"Memorable Birthday Weekend"
I stayed here with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. We were looking for a hotel near the 5th ave. This is located at the end of 5th ave, but its quirky atmosphere and fun decor will do the talking for you. This is a great place to stay for young adults and party people. Plently of shallow pools (perfect for drinking parties) and bars. It was a fun place to stay with friends, would not recommend if traveling with kids or family.
"Exotic design, clean, good location"
Hotel Reina Roja, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico Pro - exotic design, cleanliness, staff are friendly & helpful, good location, close to shopping street, few blocks to ADO bus station (to cancun, Tulum) Con - though it fits perfectly with the hotel theme/red-light-district decoration, the techno dance music during breakfast ruined my peaceful morning, I'd prefer jazz, but that's personal taste. Dark/dim lid room is not suitable for elderly.
"Great Decor, Average Service!"
Let's get the obvious out of the way. Reina Roja is easily one of the most modern and stylish hotels in Playa Del Carmen for Great Value and I want to recommend it...but there were a few disappointments during my 5 night stay. Firstly, we had booked a twin room. But after check in they gave us keys to a King Room and we had to wait for a bit before they could switch and give us the right room we had booked. Then there was the weird thing where we had no access to the AC Thermostat. It was under lock and key.And every time we wanted a change in temperature we had to call the Reception. We then called for an Iron for Ironing our clothes. The first one they gave us did not work, but the second one did. The Breakfast was included which was a plus, but they could definitely improve the variety and quality of the same. The coffee was served cold on atleast a couple of occasions and we had to ask for it to be re-heated. I don't wanna say that it was all bad. The staff is very accommodating and always mean well. Just close attention to detail would go a long way.
"Great surprise with courteous staff"
Very courteous staff and spacious rooms in a great location. Stayed in a junior suite with great natural light. Wonderful Breakfast included every morning until 12 then open bar on limited drinks noon to 1 am. Had a great stay. Interesting characters too.
"This Place Is A Trip, and Really Cool!"
I really liked this hotel and we would stay here again. For just a few $$ more than Las Golondrinas the difference is like night and day. The complimentary breakfast is small, I could easily eat 2 of these plates, but with free drinks they make up for it. The free drinks start at 12 noon, so if you want a Bloody Mary in the morning, you have to pay for it.
