The Hotel Relais Chateaux Orfila is located in the Orfila Street, in a mansion built in the very centre of Madrid. This 19th century mansion is located in the residential, cultural and business centre of Madrid, next to the Colon Square, where Christopher Columbus's statue is.
Comment of D. Louis , Belgium the 2014-08-22
"Quaint boutique hotel"
Pretty hotel in a great part of the city. Easy to walk to Prado, Musee Thyssen, etc but far enough away that your are out of the crowded city hustle. Very friendly staff in a lovely hotel. We would stay again!
"Our Favorite Hotel in Spain"
The room is soothing and comfortable. Room windows overlook a gorgeous courtyard. The location is on a cool side street. The period buildings reminded us of the nicest upper east side areas in NYC. Plus a beautiful walk through parks and fountains, to the fantastic Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (or to the Prado if you prefer old school.) The morning orange juice in the cafe is wonderful. We also loved the apple pie. Oh, and the service is fantastic. One quibble with ALL Spanish bathtubs. They never have safety handlebars, and they all have those 1/4 dividers making it easy for shower water to flood out the bathroom floor. Also missing are convenient wall soap dishes. This is true of all the hotels we stayed at in Spain. But we liked this hotel so much that we cut our trip around Spain short to get back to Madrid.
Hotel was first class - lovely big room & bathroom. Room had enormous double bed and a sofa - couldn't fault it. All staff went out of their way to help us from suggesting restaurants, tourist must dos etc. Hotel is located a short walk from the metro, some of the tourist attractions and excellent restaurants. I would agree that the breakfast was pricey but excellent and did mention it to the manager. However, after reading trip advisor before we visited we did head out for breakfast the first morning but decided to enjoy the hotel breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere for the next 4. If I visited Madrid again I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it
"Hotel Orfila Madrid... Great stay"
We stayed here 3 nights in Madrid in November of 2016. After looking at many many hotels on trip advisor we decided on the Orfila and were not disappointed. The room was beautiful and big. Furniture in the room looked to antique or copies of classics. The room was clean. The staff was very helpful and always seemed happy to see and help guests. This hotel is slightly outside the center of things in Madrid and this is ok. It sits on a quiet street and is a 5 minute walk from the metro stop. Easy. There is mini market up the street and a good bread store too. We loved our stay here.
"beautiful boutique hotel and experience"
My husband and I /steve thomas arrived straight from airport on Friday am/our room was ready and the most gracious staff served us coffee/pastries in the bar while paperwork was completed. They then took us up to a lovely room and gifted us with a bottle of bubbly as we were celebrating our anniversary. There was also another bottle of sherry in the refrig on the house. We slept for a few hours and then out to explore. The staff took so much time getting us oriented to the neighborhood, facilitated getting our tickets to the Prado for the next day and overall just were beyond kind and attentive. Our room was great, though we did not see much of it. and the breakfast was amazing. It was centrally located so we went everywhere on foot. We do like to walk! They arranged everything we asked for including a 6am cab to airport.Such a sweet place and when traveling to an area we had never seen it was reassurring to know we were in good hands. Have already given out their information to friends traveling there in two months.
