"Great warm service but some improvement areas"
My husband and I celebrated my birthday over the weekend and spent 3 nights in Relais Orso. Overall, we felt happy with our choice of hotel but there were many improvement points undeniably. We got a junior suite if I'm not wrong, on the 3rd floor facing the street. Positives: - Super nice staff throughout our stay, especially the reception but also the waitress at Breakfast and everyone else we met. Truly felt welcomed by their warm hospitality. - Breakfast came with our room rate and although not out of this world, sufficient and a good enough variety and quality. - Our room was fairly large for such a small boutique hotel and had a standalone bath tub in the room itself which we didn't use but found to be a cute design touch. - Good location, not too difficult to find and surrounded by good restaurants. Rome is a very walkable city and we found ourselves walking almost everywhere from and to our hotel Negatives - Walls are paper thin! Can hear the neighbor watching television. :( we were lucky the room next door was empty for he first 2 nights but on our final morning we were woken by tv noises next door. - Streets are super noisy on weekend nights with partying sounds till late. :(( noise travels in an alley the hotel faces so we were disturbed particularly on Friday night. Not sure if other non street facing rooms have the same issue. - Shower doesn't drain properly, or at least takes forever to drain. So one can forget about a long leisurely bath as there is a real risk of flooding the toilet and room!
Boutique style and pleasantly small, this is a great hotel. Lovely breakfast to start the day, bijou but well appointed room and extremely helpful staff. Fabulous location to visit all of the wonderful sights which this city boasts -all walking distance. We had an excellent time and really enjoyed our stay.
"Outstanding service from receptionists"
My husband & I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and the end of our month trip around Europe. The hotel is modern and sleek and we loved the spacious bathroom. We would have loved to use the lounge area on the upstairs deck but going up there it is empty. The thing that makes me give this hotel 5 stars' The 2 ladies who alternate day and night at reception. These 2 ladies made our stay at Relais Orso. Both were so friendly and went out of their way to help and went beyond what they needed to do. When arriving at the hotel I realised I have forgotten my IPad in Pisa. The girls were contacting the hotel I had left my IPad at (as was being abit difficult) and spent many phone calls to couriers trying to organise. On the second last day it seemed we had exhausted all options and I was going to claim on my Insurance, when 20 mins later a knock on my hotel room saying they can get it here in less than 24 hours ! Amazing!! These girls went above and beyond for their customers.
This is a great spot if you're looking for a boutique hotel in a perfect location. I loved the fact that we could walk just about anywhere. The rooms are small, but cute and clean. There are no amenities to speak of in the bathrooms and the breakfast buffet was sparse but the front desk was helpful and their restaurant recommendations were spot on. This isn't a place that you would soend much time hanging out in your hotel but it does it's job very well at a great price.
"Great staff but room needed work"
We stayed here for 3 nights and had a few issues. The hotel is very quaint and the staff was helpful and polite. Our room was dark with one light that didn't work. The shower head was broken, top of the doorframe to the bathroom was broken too. The wifi was very weak connection which wasn't a major issue as the wifi in the lobby and breakfast area was better. We made a few requests to the staff to change rooms and they were very helpful. I know this is a little expected when travelling to such an old historic city but for the price we paid, I think it could have been nicer.
