The Renaissance Baltimore harborplace hotel is located in downtown Baltimore is near many Inner Harbor attractions, restaurants and shopping.
Where we usually stay when we visit Baltimore was booked so we tried the Renaissance. There were several pluses and minuses from our stay. The location was definitely a plus. When staying here you are right across from the Inner Harbor. We had a great view of the harbor from our room which was awesome (binoculars were even in the room)! Another plus was the friendliness of the staff upon check in. There were several minuses however. The room we stayed needed some TLC. The paint was peeling off of the ceiling in the bathroom. This isn't necessarily a deal breaker relative to accommodations but when you pay what you pay to stay here you expect a bit more. Also, the pool area needs a bit more monitoring relative to cleanliness/safe use. While we tend to be very skeptical of entering hotel hot tubs for obvious reasons, we entered and exited this one as there was dirt (''') floating on the surface. I will note that it appears the staff was addressing this as we were leaving. I would probably stay here again only if other options were not available. It would not be my first choice in Baltimore.
Way to noisy at night. Walls are paper thin. Got no sleep. Sounded like constant construction with hammering and banging within the walls. Great location and restaurants near by but I definitely will not stay again.
The location of the hotel is great - so central and there's a Shake Shack next door (the veggie burger is a fav of mine). The concierge was really helpful and kind. The pool was amazing - had it to myself! The hot tub was a touch of luxury, loved the Aveda toiletries and the room itself was comfortable. Would stay again!
"A weekend in Baltimore"
The hotel was nice with comfortable clean rooms. We paid extra for a room with a view of the harbor and it was spectacular. Unfortunately there is not much going on in Baltimore in the winter. Many of the shops along the harbor were closed for renovation and the mall connected to the hotel was not fully occupied although was nice to walk around.
"Bring Your Walking Shoes if Staying Here, Rooms are a long way from Elevators."
The hotel is in a great location directly opposite the USS Constellation. It possibly doesn't get more Baltimore rooted than that. The staff were helpful and friendly and possibly because the room was part of a block reservation for a convention not the best located. The hotel has a square footprint. the rooms along all four sides with an inner courtyard. If you have an inner facing room you have light, but no view. If you are not near the elevators that are in one corner, count on a walk of 120 yards or so to your room. The rooms are a good size and have large internal adjustable air conditioning or heat units. See photo. This unit changes the sounds it omits every fifteen or so minutes. This leads to guests waking up in the night wondering what all the noises are. Do not count on getting a good nights sleep if staying here.
