"Fantastic Hotel! 10/10 Experience"
My friend and I stayed here on a girls trip to Thailand. Everything about this hotel was perfect: the location, the staff, the food (breakfast was included, and we ate at the hotel restaurant a few times), the property and the overall experience. The staff was outstanding and incredibly friendly, and the property is absolutely beautiful. Koh Samui can get busy and there are a ton of tourists, and this hotel was the perfect reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the island. It was so nice to have a busy day exploring only to come back to a tranquil, quiet environment. I would absolutely stay here again, and strongly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quieter place to stay without over-paying.
"One of the Best properties I have stayed at"
This was one of the best Marriott Properties I have stayed at in the world! They upgraded us to a Suite with a private jacuzzi pool (Absolutely fantastic) They kept us soo happy throughout the stay. Welcomed us with amazing Mango delicacies like Juice, Jam, Sticky rice dessert, etc.. Kept our room crystal clean throughout our stay. Breakfast is out of the world with OMG, cant count the varieties of items served. Would recommend this Hotel to couples, families with kids, basically - for all groups and kinds of people.
"Beautiful and Relaxing Resort"
The Renaissance Hotel Koh Samui is a great place to go and relax. The grounds/gardens are absolutely beautiful. The pools (there are two separate pools) are nice and a great place to unwind. The Renaissance's greatest asset are the people that work there. The staff are trained very well and I was impressed with all of the staff I encountered. Max and Capu in the Banana Leaf restaurant were such a pleasure to see and speak with each day. Other staff, such as Gunz at the pool, Pop at the concierge, Nut at the front desk, and Chin the front desk manager, were so nice and helpful. Aek, the General Manager, you have an outstanding staff and I hope you continue to motivate, appreciate, and train them well! The food in the Banana Leaf is great. They offer a different Thai salad each day and have a Bloody Mary bar. However, I think that they should offer more Thai dishes. Elite member benefits are scarce at the Renaissance Koh Samui. There's no free breakfast, no lounge, and as a Platinum member, I was only given some peanuts when I checked in for my arrival gift. Upgrades are difficult to get and I was given the room that I booked for the first three nights. I understand that upgrades are given on an as available basis, but from reading other reviews, it seems that upgrades are difficult to get at this hotel. I was upgraded the last three nights of my stay. The rooms are nice, but the hotel is in need of renovation. The first three nights, I was in the deluxe sea view room. All deluxe rooms are located in a separate building across the main road from the rest of the hotel. The room was nice, but if I were to come to this hotel again, I would not pay extra for the sea view. The sea is barely visible as it is a very far distance from the deluxe room building. Additionally, the hotel is only six stories high (I was on the fourth floor) and the garden and villas blocked most of the view. Go for the cheaper deluxe garden view as the sea view room is not worth the extra cost. I was upgraded to a garden view pool villa the last three nights of my stay. The villas are huge and I love the courtyard area. However, the pool is so small that it is barely useful. It's the size of two hot tubs. Additionally, the villa courtyards aren't very private due to the topography of the resort. It is easy to see into other villas as the courtyard walls aren't high enough to prevent others from seeing into your villa. The villas need to be renovated. The curtains were stained (they are too long and drag on the floor), the lighting was inadequate, the shower layout is awkward, the shower head was broken, and our villa ran out of gas in the hot water heater the second day. Maintenance came to refill the gas when I called, but I think that they should refill the hot water heater gas without the guest having to call them. The bathrooms had blinds in the shower and wood trim in the shower, both of which leads to mildew. The cost of my room, for a deluxe sea view for six nights, came out to $333 USD per night. This is extremely expensive for what you get. The villas were even more expensive than this. Although the resort is nice, it is extremely overpriced. The hotel is located in a remote area, near the end of a dusty pot-holed road. It is difficult to walk on this road as there are no sidewalks and there is constant traffic (especially a huge water truck that must make hundreds of trips per day to the Banyan Tree resort at the end of the road). I suggest that you rent a car or a motorbike if you stay at this hotel. Taxis are expensive and scarce, and there are very few restaurants near the hotel. If you rent a motorbike, you can drive 10 minutes into Lamai where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and street food. The hotel should offer some bikes and motorbikes to the guests free of charge since it is in such a remote location. The beach to the west of the resort (looking toward Lamai) is so beautiful! However, to the east, the hotels and land are really run down. Retaining walls falling into the ocean. Lots of litter. Hopefully this area will be renovated and redeveloped in the future. One last note; 90% of the guests at this hotel are from a large Asian country that is not known for good manners. At the pool, there was a child swimming naked (very unhygienic), lots of men chain smoking, and most women appear not to have any personal grooming habits. At breakfast, there was lots of slurping, burping, snorting, talking with a mouth full of food (and falling out of the mouth), yelling, wasting of food, and one woman gave her child a smartphone that was blaring a TV show (no headphones). When I was checking in, someone cut me off and demanded that the front desk staff help them first. Overall, the Renaissance Koh Samui is a great hotel. While the hotel is more expensive than properties in major Asian cities and is in need of renovation, the staff working here are outstanding!
"Unique experience in Koh Samui"
I experienced the unique stay at Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa. If you are looking for an escape from busy lifestyle, this Resort perfectly fits you. However, the free shuttle and the taxi service is always available and the great staff will suggest you the best places to experience during your stay. The check-in procedure went smoothly, and quick, but it took longer for me as I saw they can help with suggestions about places to see on the island. My favorite part was the delicious Mango ice-cream that i was served upon the arrival. I had a sea-view room. the view was more than i was expecting with stunning sunrises and sunsets. The Jacuzzi bath-tab on the balcony, was even better after i visited the hotel's Gift shop, because i found a wide range of aroma-oils and some other things that will definitely help you to relax late in the evenings. the hotel area is quite big. the restaurants offer both international and thai cuisine. the food was incredibly delicious, we just couldn't stop eating. the pool area was renovated recently, and it was a pleasure to spend the day in the property. I just cannot forget the cocktails that we had at the bar. Honestly, the best ones on the island. and of course my favorite place was the Spa. as i am a massage-lover, i can definitely say that they have a professional staff. what i also appreciated they can suggest you what exactly you might need. I highly recommend this Resort, because i felt being a part of their family. the care that I've received in this resort i will remember for long time. I will come back soon.
"Simply the best!! "
There are no words or pictures that can truly reflect how beautiful this place is or how amazing all the staff are. We visited as part of our honeymoon and were treated like royalty. Our room was lovely with fresh towel display daily. The hotel facilities were superb. What made our visit so special was the people who worked at the Renaissance. Obviously being there a week we got to know some more than others but generally they were so welcoming. The chef was so accommodating and the breakfasts were amazing! Thank you for making our once in a life time trip so special.
