"Landmark hotel in a great location but badly in need of an injection of warmth"
Stayed March 2017, £99 B&B I was quite excited to be staying here as I knew it from years ago when it was a pretty tired, pre-IRA bombing monstrosity, but I'd heard it'd been substantially renovated in recent years. What greeted me was a pretty monochrome, gloomy establishment with hints of bling and I suppose that does work, if you like that kind of thing. It's certainly well-maintained and staff were very pleasant and keen to help. My room was a very generous size although the black/grey/white theme was a bit depressing and rather office-like to be frank. Not my cup of tea at all but maybe it floats others' boats. I thought the price of internet was eye-watering and that's just mean. Usually I wouldn't stay anywhere that charges for wifi - it should be like running water these days. I couldn't quite understand why but the air flow through the ducting and air conditioning system in the room at times sounded faintly like a wild hurricane. I had to order a sandwich room service at 11pm and while the order delivered was incorrect (I'll forgive them that - I just wanted to eat something, anything), it was the most tired and uninteresting fare I've ever encountered. Grated cheese on bare dry bread, masquerading as a sandwich. For 6 quid! What a slap in the face! I wouldn't have accepted it were it not for the fact it was 11.30pm and I needed to get to sleep for an early start so didn't have time to quibble. I was attending a conference and I must say the entrance to that part of the facility is industrial at best. I cannot understand why a supposedly top-tier hotel would consider a two-storey, warehouse-like concrete ramp with an inexplicable section of worn astroturf to be an inviting way to introduce delegates to their event. Quite shocking. The carpark is annoying to access given that only one of the 3 lifts will go down to that level. But you can't select that particular lift unless you're on the ground floor. So if you've got lots of luggage and are not in reception, you're forced to wait until luck intervenes. Also, to get into the hotel's section of the car park involves negotiating an unreasonably weighty door that cannot be operated with a single hand - impossible when you have young children or multiple suitcases in tow. I certainly wouldn't choose to stay here again, it just feels so clinical, cold, devoid of personality and natural light - the only warmth is from the staff and for some that might be enough. But not for me.
"They know how to run a hotel"
This was my second visit to the Renaissance Manchester. I was given a room on the 10th floor, which was very spacious with two double beds, and a sitting area. It was spotlessly clean, with a good view over the city and very well equipped with generous tea and coffee and milk as well as biscuits which were all replenished every day. The bathroom was good and great water pressure in the shower and there were adequate TV channels, an effective hair dryer and iron and ironing board (which I did not use). Breakfast was included in my package and it was good, fresh and varied with a big choice and a particularly pleasant gentleman making omelettes to order. The restaurant staff were very attentive and courteous. In fact, all the staff were obviously highly trained and well-versed in customer service. they were all very friendly and helpful and I was very impressed with all hotel personnel. The location is first class, just minutes away from the shopping areas, restaurants, and public transport. My only criticism of the hotel is that they do not have in-room safes although they do have safety deposit boxes at reception. For the price I paid, I really believe this hotel delivers good value, quality service and I will certainly stay again.
"What a gorgeous hotel"
What a lovely place. From the minute I arrived I fell I love with the decor! It was modern but so different! Then the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are a lovely size with sofas and coffee tables. The decor in the room continued to impress. What a lovely place to stay and so convenient a location. Would recommended 100%.
"Quad rooms superb for weekend girls getaway"
Arrived at the hotel after the 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly. The entrance seems a bit small for the hotel, 1 side door and 1 revolving door. Anyway, we were early, but to our delight the room was ready. Check in was quick and efficient. We took the lifts uo to the 10th floor - there didn't appear to be a ramp for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. The room was a really good size, 2 comfortable double beds - there were 4 of us. A sofa area, ample wardrobe space, long mirror - always important, teas and coffee making stuff and a television. The only thing that was missing was a fridge. To get ice delivered to the room was £3, so I went and got it from the bar myself along with glasses - there are none in the room. The decor of the room was modern, the windows went the length of the room so there was lots of natural light. There was also an iron and an ironing board. The bathroom was the only part of the room that didn't appear to have had a makeover - but it was clean and stocked with decent toiletries. We stayed for breakfast, which was served in the bar area on the ground floor, I thought it was going to be a bit odd, but it was fine. Breakfast itself was delicious - lots of choice - cooked, cereals, eggs -whichever way you wanted them, yogurts, fruits and tea and coffee served at your table. There was a supplement for Costa coffee. There is also secure parking available - at a small extra cost. All in all, this hotel was really good value for money, excellent location and clean. I'd definitely stay again.
Very nice hotel centrally located to all shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel room was huge and quiet. The hotel itself is very well maintained and staff are polite and willing to help ensure the stay was excellent.
