"Good accommodations & great restaurants"
I stayed here 4 nights for a meeting at the convention center. It is a short walk between the hotel and convention center. The rooms are comfortable and I liked the organization of the bathroom area & closet, that was separated from the rest of the room. The soundproofing between rooms could be improved, but most of the other visitors were well-behaved so it was not disruptive. Their gym facilities are better than most similar hotels I have visited. I was also surprised how many folks took advantage of the gym early each morning. I think they had 6 treadmills and 6 ellipticals and a decent amount of weight lifting machines and some free weights, although only 1 bench. I really liked their Dust Cutter restaurant and would have liked to write a separate review of that, but it did;t come up as an option. I had several lunches and dinners here and was impressed with the variety and quality of the food. I especially enjoyed their salads that could be supplemented with protein such as salmon or chicken.
"Great location. Expensive hotel. Not worth what you pay for."
This hotel is in a great location to everything downtown. Lots of great restaurants and activities within walking distance. Also very close to the train. However, for the price it isn't worth the stay. The hotel lobby is very noisy, especially at night. It is a busy place and very loud. Rooms are nice. Aveda products are a very nice touch. However, the room isn't fancy, compared with what you pay. Also, for the cost per night you'd think they could include the internet! Even low end, cheap hotels include internet. That was disappointing. Ordered room service and the food was great. Awesome sized portion. I only ate half so I could save some for the next day. However my room fridge froze my food solid and I couldn't eat it. Really disappointed since room service isn't cheap. Also the tub in my room didn't drain well. Ended up standing is water with every shower. The rooftop patio is nice. If you want sun you either need to be out early in the morning or later in the day. The pool never gets sun because the hotel building is between the pool and the sun. We used the conference facilities while we were here. The conference rooms are great. The conference staff were awesome. Unless there is another conference at this hotel and the rooms have a discount I wouldn't stay here again. I know a number of the people at the conference stayed at other locations just because of the price of the rooms.
"Big, business , comfortable stay"
Lobby is enormous and bustling! Great place to stay for business as it's convenient to, Phoenix Convention center. Great restaurant, glassed in garage doors open up so you feel like you're eating al fresco!! Pool area on 5th floor with many places to sit outside with a book! Large exercise facility...well equipped. We stayed in a suite that was huge and very comfortable. Staff very accommodating.
"Perfect location, nice renovation "
When arriving at the hotel, the exterior appears to be just a large gray box. But when you walk inside, it is nicely decorated and gave off a swanky feel. You could tell they had a major renovation in the lobby and first floor area and the staff appeared very proud of it. The location is perfect and if you enjoy the hustle and bustle of a city metropolis this is for you. Lots of restaurants close by and talking stick arena (Phoenix suns) and chase field (dbacks) within a 5 mins walk. Light rail one block away. The bellman were super friendly and greeted us everytime we walked in. I gotta give a shout out to front desk Kelsey and Navigator Tim. Kelsey lit up the room with her smile and aimed to please. One of the friendliest front desk staff members I've had the pleasure of checking in with. She had a positive attitude and represented the Marriott brand well! She also remembered my name throughout my stay. That is awesome! So either she was just that good or I was just that needy to get her to remember me haha. I also will say the other front desk staff members were excellent as well! Tim was right on the money with some of his recommendations on what to do and eat! He was friendly and patient! Marriott is lucky to have employees like these two. Pretty nice fitness center for a hotel. Everything you need. Plus you get a complimentary pass at Eos fitness one block away for your duration of the stay. A few issues we had: We made a maintenance request and it took FOREVER for someone to get to our room. Luckily it wasn't something that needed immediate attention. I would think a hotel of this scale would have more maintenance personnel during the days... plus Our bathtub would not drain well at all and remained clogged our entire stay. The pool was a real let down. You hear "roof top pool" and think how great it will be... yea we were wrong. It's stuffed on the 5th floor with no sun and fenced in like a prison and was tiny... pretty disappointing but luckily we weren't staying here for pool use. Lastly, thank god we had reward certificates for our entire stay. The average price a night was almost $450. I know march is one of the busiest months for Arizona with spring training and spring break but $450 is way too much for this hotel per night. Marriott is my go to hotel company but I would never spend that kind of money for a night. This hotel seemed to cater for those on business trips or conventions since the convention center was a block away. Maybe we visited during the busiest week and that drove up the price. Overall, amazing staff members. If the nightly price went down I would definitely pay to stay here!
"Clean, Within Walking Distance of All Things Downtown"
My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights to get away. The room was clean. The location was within walking distance of all the things we wanted to do downtown. We were able to get a feather free room. The bed was comfortable. We had a decent view. if you bring your car, you have to valet park, there's nowhere else to park. The valet fee is high. Walking around downtown, as long as it isn't summer, is fine. If you want to go anywhere else then you need a car.
