Small hotel downtown, nice staff and clean room. Parking $47. A night! But there is other parking 2 blocks away for $25. A day. The valet informed me which was nice of him. Nothing around this hotel, so we had to Uber for food & bars. We did walk under a mile to the broadway pier and took a ferry to Coronado Island, which was fun. Beautiful Sunday trip $4.75 each way. Hotel is expensive but I got a special and we did enjoy the hotel. Quiet & slept well.
"Not too shabby, but not spectacular"
Pros: Good location, close to the convention center, gas lamp, airport. Restaurant is decent in the hotel, woodway treadmills in the gym, dumbells upto 50 lbs in gym, pool, rooftop bar. Rooms are decent, relatively up to date Cons: no real view from our room, gym outside of treadmills and bike is pretty weak, rooms could be better, showers are annoying because the water only flows down at a 90 degree angle to the floor
"Average at best."
We stayed here for a convention. It is an older hotel that was remodeled, and in a downtown area. Not many restaurants around, Karl Strauss was it for dinner, because the hotel restaurant was closed at 3:30 in the afternoon, including food at the bar. While nothing here was too terrible, it was nothing to write home about either, the room was clean enough but a little worn. The only REAL complaint I had is that the small bathroom had all tile floors and shower. Everything was slippery when wet and there were no grab bars in the shower, believe it or not. I did slip on the floor right out side the shower and whacked my ankle badly, not broken, just a big knot, swollen and blue. Also, there is a big construction project right outside the hotel which limits access, they should probably let out of towers coming by car know this. I would stay here again, but only if it was the cheapest option around.
Great hotel and great staff. Would recommend this hotel for people to stay in. Good location not far away from the beach. Good breakfast and a great service. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again when I visit San Diego again. Just want to thank the staff for me. Hope I will see them all again.
"Decent downtown hotel"
This hotel is located within walking distance of both the Little Italy district and the Gas Lamp district. Walking at night seemed ok, never felt threatened. The rooms were nice enough, draw the blinds for darkness, and the amenities were very nice (Aveda products) but no fridge in the room. We did not go to either of the bars nor the restaurant in the hotel but they seemed busy enough. One thing to note though, they highly recommended valet parking due to the difficulty in finding over night parking. It seemed like a pretty expensive option so we went to find parking on our own. There was a decent parking lot for half the price just kitty corner to the hotel! It
