Recently stayed at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel on a quick trip to Seattle. Location of the hotel is very good as it is in walking distance to lots of things to see and do. Had a room on the club floor but never got a chance to check out the actual club itself unfortunately, so can't comment on that. Room was nice, and on the large side, with a view of the Space Needle in the distance. Had room service for dinner the one night I was there, which was also good. Like most Seattle hotels parking was available for $35 + $7 tax per day, but if you need to leave your car there after check out you can do so until 6 pm. I would and am staying at this hotel again, as I was very pleased with my stay.
Stayed with a friend for a long weekend. The hotel was well situated to walk to several attractions. The hotel was going through some renovation in the common area, but did not interfere with our stay. The concierge lounge was well stocked for breakfast. Room was quiet and clean, my only complaint was we could never get the room cool enough and being a Platinum member it seemed that the cleaning crew were very stingy in leaving bottled water in the room.
"Good hotel, clean with good location, would stay here again."
When I arrived I was quite impressed with the staff at the front door, very attentive and helpful. The room was very clean, did not seem to pick up noise from the hallway much and had a small fridge. The bathroom is the type with the sliding door, which I don't care for much. I like shutting doors that can also interject a better audio barrier. The beds were twins instead of queens and they were a tad uncomfortable but nothing awful, still slept well. I would stay here again easily. Try the restaurant on the second floor for breakfast, it was quite good.
"Pathetic for a hotel of this caliber"
The hotel appears nice, boasting lots of marble and plush carpets in the lobby....don't be fooled. There are countless places one could stay in downtown Seattle that have more amenities for a better price. There appeared to be no pool, and the vista rooms were closed 9/10 times during the day: disappointing. The rooms are smaller than rooms at La Quinta and the AC unit was loud all night. The beds are comfortable and so are the sheets. The TVs are huge and provide a nice viewing experience. All rooms come with a mini-fridge and "coffee maker." THE WI-FI COSTS $13 a freaking day. That is the most unacceptable aspect of this place; a hotel on the side of the road in Redding offers free wifi. The water bottles they leave in the room are $4 traps - so don't touch them. Bottomline: Do not stay here. For the money, this place is a laugh.
"Upscale Hotel @ Top of Madison & I 5"
I just stayed 3 nights here over the Easter holiday and found it to be an excellent choice, especially as a Gold Marriott Rewards member. I arrived at 1pm to find my room assigned on the 27th floor of the 28 story building. The top floor contains the Executive Lounge and a few function rooms. The hotel has one building being built just next door (west) which has already topped the hotel, and the southern side also has a building taller than the hotel (you can see some of the Cascades, but not Mt. Rainier per the lounge bartender). The east view has no obstructions but has I 5 at the base so noise would be an issue. I was almost in the northwest corner, which is about as good as the room views can get. I had lovely vistas of some of Elliott Bay, the waterfront & ferries and even the Olympic Mountains. A warning though, when that very close building opens you will have NO privacy! The room itself was extremely large, I had a king but 2 queens would easily fit. The large closet with laptop safe was immediate upon entering. The single flatscreen tv was of sufficient size which flowed into a very large white curved desk. There was one easy chair by the window as well as the desk chair. The bed was very comfy with the standard Renaissance bedding and lots of pillows. There is a large fridge in a cupboard stocked with 2 waters. I had a Seattle Times newspaper delivered all 3 mornings. The bathroom was average space with a nice size vanity. Standard Aveda products supplied. I found the water was very hot in both the sink and shower. The shower pressure was on the weak side. I have extra towels in my profile which were delivered the 2nd day. Turndown was supposed to be automatic and nightly; I only received it 1 out of 3 nights. There are plenty of outlets/USB ports both on the desk & near the bed. Wifi worked very well. Up to the lounge on 28. It has the killer north & west views, the Space Needle & most of downtown are in full view. As the lounge is only open Sunday night through Friday morning, I only had one evening's reception. I must say I was quite impressed. You can easily make a dinner out of the offerings. I had bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp that were to die for! There was also soup, mini enchiladas, meats, cheeses, a mini salad bar and assorted desserts after 7:30. It has quite a good size conventional sit down bar & a fantastic bartender who provided table service when he could. He also keeps a tab of your alcohol-no honor system here! Friday morning they had several hot choices: scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal as well as lovely yogurt with granola, fruit and cereal. The lounge also contains all day help yourself non alcoholic beverages and contains 2 PCs with printer. I opted for the extra points, so I can't comment on the restaurant breakfast which is offered downstairs on Sat/Sun. Seattle is quite hilly & the Renaissance sits at the top of the downtown hills. The block next to the hotel (between 5-6th) is a killer by itself. Walking down to the waterfront is very quick, say about 15 minutes at the most: straight down Madison. I strongly recommend Lyft/Uber to come back to the hotel. I never paid more than $3-4. A very fine choice while in Seattle. Enjoy this hotel in a fabulous city....Thanks team Renaissance!
