Tucked within the heart of the Nation's Capital. Dupont Circle became a hub of commerce and home to embassies based on city plans created by George Washington and his architect friend, Pierre Charles L'Enfant. Dupont Circle has remained an integral part of DC to this day.
Had a business trip in DC so I stayed at quite a few Marriott brand hotels in downtown. This was the most disappointing stay of all! The checkin was quite rude, can't remember his name though. The room was very noisy because it was next to the central air condition, so I returned to the front desk for another room. The room was very tight compared to the other hotels I stayed in (another one was just across the street). Hotel itself is very environment friendly with a certain type of zen. It is very centrally located and modern but made me self aware to avoid Renaissance brand as whole.
"Value for money, excellent location"
This hotel does many things very well: quick service, great location, clean, reasonably priced. Free newspaper, wifi, coffee and water. The area has many restaurants and shops, the metro is very close.
I was a little worried because I got such a great deal on this room, so I was expecting to be disappointed. From the moment we arrived, I knew that would not be the case. Ronald checked us in and he was fantastic! You don't always get such friendly service from someone working on a holiday. We had just traveled 5,000 miles and we were tired and road worn. He had us laughing and checked in quickly. The room was perfect for our needs of a two night stay. The bed was comfy and any issues we had (the water pressure in the shower) was fixed immediately. We had dinner in the hotel on our second night and it was comfort food at its finest. Our server was great! I can't remember her name but I do remember asking her about her lovely accent and she said that she was from Peru. Our stay at the Renaissance was truly a wonderful experience and we will absolutely stay here again on our next trip to DC.
"Pretty good hotel in good location"
overall, this hotel is good but room for improvement. Has the crazy system of free wifi only in lobby, but turns out if you join their rewards programme it's free in the room as well, which you can do at reception. Would be nice if they let us know that when checking in however quite enjoyed sitting in the lounge area to use the wifi. The rooms are on the small side and we had to ask to be moved because of the noise all night from the large aircon unit outside. This was done very willingly by the reception staff so high points to them. Our first two nights were spent at Hyatt Regency Crystal City, then here, so on price, rooms, space, quiet, this hotel was not to the same standard, it only wins on location.
"Loved This Choice"
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very accommodating... great welcoming check-in and everyone always had a cheery attitude... from the desk personnel, the bellmen, the chambermaids. The staff in the executive lounge on the 8th floor was amazing... thanks for the great service! Our room was excellent. The hotel shows some signs of wear but is generally well maintained and comfortable. Location was great. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Their excellent weekend rates make it even more compelling... a chance to experience this fine hotel at a great value.
