"Birthday Break Away"
I booked a 3 night stay for a short break away and to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Overall, the hotel was good. The minimalist decor was different to anything we stayed in before and was clean and tidy throughout. Along some of the corridors it was clear that a paint job was required, however this was clearly being taken care of from the numerous wet paint signs dotted about, which soon reassured us. On check-in, we were greeted at Reception by a friendly young lady who we found to be very efficient and even wished my Boyfriend a 'Happy Birthday' which he found very welcoming. She also provided us with a map of the local area and highlighted the main places to visit which was very helpful. On booking, I had asked if the Hotel could arrange something special for our arrival and we weren't disappointed. The Team had kindly decorated the room with banners and balloons making our stay even more special. I had booked a Classic Double room and this was plenty big enough for the two of us. The bed was very comfy with a big TV and enough space in the wardrobe to store all our cases. The bathroom was clean and the heat and pressure of the shower was excellent. On our first night, we decided to order room service. We were let down by the hour long wait for it to arrive and with no indication of this delay upon our initial order we simply thought we'd be forgotten. However, the food, once it arrived, was good and very filling. To make it worse, we were unable to get to sleep till 1am due to the noise from the apartment above. With what could only have been a wooden floor above us, the clip-clop and women's heels seemed to echo into our room below making it a very disturbed night's sleep. We also had breakfast included which was good value for money with a variety of a hot and cold buffet to choose from. Our only let down were the scrambled eggs. Each morning these were overcooked and didn't look appetising at all. On one morning, the hot buffet was table order only and with no menus, we weren't completely sure of the full menu available to us. In addition to this, on the same day there was only one waitress working the floor and she looked flustered. Constantly running to and from the kitchen, taking orders and clearing tables by herself with, what seemed to be her superiors, only appearing later on to help once the rush was over. Nevertheless, this young girl was still very polite and welcoming. As we had never been to Liverpool before, we felt it was safer to park with the Hotel than any of the Long Stay car parks and whilst £15 a night may be quite expensive, we were very pleased with the service. The only thing to watch out for is Parking Wardens! On check out, the receptionist brought my car round to the front of the Hotel where the only option is to park on double yellow lines. Within two minutes of receiving my keys back and walking outside, we were pounced on by a very grumpy Warden who barked at us to move as soon as possible or else he'd give us a ticket and wouldn't even listen when I tried to explain it had only been there two minutes and we were about to leave. Liverpool itself is lovely with an excellent variety of shops, restaurants and museums to keep you occupied with. On our final night, we visited the Cavern Club, only a 10 minute walk from the hotel, which was celebrating it's 60th Birthday. We got lots of pictures of the new 'Cilla' statue and found this was experience we couldn't miss. We would stay again if we visited Liverpool again.
"the hotel is located in the heart of the city within 10 minutes walk of most attractions"
The hotel is beautifully presented and the staff are all warm and friendly. Tod, working in the restaurant is worth extra mention - nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to ensure that we had an excellent stay
"Richmond Hotel Liverpool "
The Richmond Hotel - Hatton Garden Have just returned from a great time at The Richmond Hotel at Hatton Garden, Liverpool The hotel is located in the business district of Liverpool, just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of this amazing city. I arrived by train and it is only a few minutes walk from there. Apparently they do offer car parking at the rear of teh hotel. The reception staff made me feel instantly at ease, with a cheery check in and helped me with my bag up to my room on the 5th floor. The suite was just lovely, with thick, warm carpet and great modern decor. It comprised of a kitchen, a lounge, a gorgeous bedroom & bathroom with a patio with a table and 4 chairs with a great view over parts of the city. The bed was so comfortable and warm, with TWO televisions in the apartment, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. Only me on this occasion but that would keep many couples happy!! The dining room is quite unique, black and white in decor, modern and very welcoming. Again the staff were great (Daniel and Nikia) ensuring that i was fine throughout the meal, which as i was alone was most welcome. A great menu, all sounding delightful making it quite difficult to choose but I decided to have the starter of poached salmon of remoulade with crayfield, lemon creme frache. The main meal was absolutely delicious Roast Rump North West Lamb. It was cooked just as i wanted it pink and it was so tasty with potato puree, root vegetable & gorgeous pomegranate jus! A great list of desserts from which i chose cheesecake with ice cream.......luscious!! The breakfast selection offered a great start to the next day with a choice of fruit, breads and cakes, scambled eggs, scrumptious sausages and lots of coffee or teas. Nikia again was the waitress and again was full of smiles and chat. A talented girl as she also plays the Grand Piano there on a Friday night! I loved staying at the Richmond Hotel. I do stay frequently in hotels and this place stands out in a good way and I will definitely be returning soon. "A gem of a hotel in the City Centre"
I stayed here mid week on business but already planning to return for a weekend stay in the city. Everything about it is 5star except the price. Luxury rooms, great food, good atmosphere, within walking distance of everything going on in the city centre, Easy access to bus and train stations if you plan to go to football or Aintree. The added bonus was the staff could not be more helpful. Need to make a special mention of the breakfast buffet which is the tops.
