"NICE AND COMFORTABLE HOTEL NEAR CONGRESS CENTER"
I have been in this hotel for work , and i had a seminar in the congress, nice place in fronte of the river, with a good view, i get a dinner in one of the many japenese restaurant in the gallery. The Subway is close the hotel, so will be very easy, visit the city Good service, and clean room
"I Definitely Recommend: Excellent Room, Efficient Laundry & Fast Wifi "
This is by far the best hotel I've stayed at in Osaka. The room was big and comfortable. There's even background music in the room. Clean big super King sized bed with beautiful view at the window. I was most impressed with the laundry service. They were efficient and detail oriented. The wifi was strong and straightforward to log in. Only improvement I guess is that the pillows could have been more firm. All the pillows sank in as soon as we slept on it.. Also, the location was mediocre. It is right next to a subway station but you'd have to change a train from Shin-Osaka Station if you came by Shinkansen. Getting around RIHGA is easier by car or taxi if it is nearby. Namba is a 15-20min taxi ride away and should cost you no more than 1600¥. Hotel is great for family holiday and business travelers. Very comfortable stay throughout.
"Great staff and lobby but dirty room"
I really liked the hotel but the bathroom had hair in it in several places (toilet, tub sink). That just grossed me out. When you stay in a hotel, you know you're sleeping in a room where hundreds of others have slept but a clean room let's you delude yourself into thinking it's only yours. A dirty room just smashes that delusion and makes you wonder what else is dirty (bed, sheets'')
"Hidden Charges - poor communication"
Early check in at noon – ¥8,460 (Over $80.00) was not advised there would be an early check in charge. I arrived from the airport and was told “your room is ready” no extra charge was mentioned, If I had been advised of the charge I would have declined, ¥8,460 is overpriced for a couple hours wait for a regular check in time. This is completely unacceptable. Check out: I was advised by my group organizers I could stay in the room until the time the car came to take me to the airport, 7:30 pm. I made my way to the lobby only to be told my bill would be paid by someone else. I did some checking and confirmed with my group the hotel bill was my responsibility and NOT someone from the group. It seems there was some miscommunication. Finally only at about 7:30 while my car was waiting in front, I was able to convince the front desk staff I was responsible for my bill, not the group. When I saw the bill I was outraged at the early check in charge and the FULL NIGHT charge ¥42,120 for late checkout on Sunday the 18th, neither of which I expected NOR was I directly advised of by the hotel staff. These 2 EXTRA charges were over $500 USD nearly 1/3 of my total stay for 4 nights. This is completely unacceptable. BTW- Weekend rate Sat & Sun nights was nearly 2X the weekday rate. I went to Tokyo that night and had to pay another night hotel in Tokyo, so paid for 2 nights hotel Sunday the 18th. Upon paying I was advised by the staff that after 6pm checkout was a full nights charge. Well had I known I would have and could have been in the lobby to check out at 6 pm no problem! I had packed at noon and I was back in the room 100% ready to go at 6pm just waiting for 7 because the car was coming at 7:30. The point is for a simple miscommunication of the late checkout time and missed by 1 hour, the penalty should not be 1 night stay at over ¥42,000, ($420.00) this is ridiculous. I should have been advised prior to check out time. I had to pay the bill because at this time due to staff not accepting my payment at 7 pm and my car waiting I was going to be late for the airport. Breakfast wait to be seated daily. Worst was Sunday over 30 min. wait. Room keys are made of cheap paper/cardboard material. if you get it a little wet they don't work. I got mine wet... They will attempt to charge you for replacement key if you ask to have it replaced. Don't misplace you CHEAP key or get it WET it will cost you. I wanted to give management the opportunity to fix this issue before posting strong comments on trip advisor and any other social media. I wrote to the GM and I received a reply from the "front desk". The reply was they will check the travel agent the booked the group. I will hear back in a week. Also unacceptable, I write the GM with a complaint and the reply form the front desk is they will check with someone else. More miscommunication, I am complaining not the travel agent. No reply from the General Manager. If you stay here beware of hidden fees and overcharges without prior notice! I don't like this kind of service and I will not stay at Rihga Royal properties again.
"Small but expected"
I visited Osaka to attend a business meeting so I stayed at RIHGA for few days. I had expected the room to be small as it's the standard in Japan but I think they could've done a much better job on decorating to make the room feel more welcoming. Pictures are included for reference.
