"Average Vegas hotel"
My hubby and I stayed here the end of November. We choose this hotel based on the reviews and that we were seeing Rock of ages and Penn and Teller here. The rooms are all suites. Fairly large space with a couch and TV. There was also a fridge and a separate tub and washroom area. They only have one convenience store that you can buy booze from. So needless to say, the beer was over priced! We had a rental car, so we went the next day and stocked up on beer at a liquor store near by. SO much cheaper. I found the Casino extra smoky, as compared to others. And the Carnival buffet was average...... but yet it was expensive. I would not stay here again. The location is'nt the best and your held hostage with their inflated pricing.
Overall great experience for the value . Very large rooms . The gym is very nice and the casino staff is very friendly. Great choice for a quick and enjoyable las Vegas vacation. I will definitely. Come back and stay again.
"Needs a renovation"
Disappointed with the upkeep overall. 4 of the guest elevators were not working, escalator broken, not sure if they have Masqarade party entertainment, not enough black jack tables. Starbucks was out of eggnog the entire weekend.
"Depends on the price"
Recently stayed at the Rio for an extended weekend. We got a really good price, so it was worth it. We requested a high floor. They put us on the lowest floor possible. We overlooked the heating/ cooling roof. Our room smelled like hamburgers, must have been the vent from the kitchen below us. We thought that was better than other smells, so we didn't request a change. The beds were hard but comfortable, the water was hot in the shower, but the pressure was not good. I have thick hair, and it was difficult to rinse the shampoo out. The room was large and spacious, but definitely needed to be updated. They were very stingy on the toiletries and towels. Every night we put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on our door and locked it. Every morning housekeeping woke us up by trying to get in our room. Very frustrating!!!! It is a quick walk to Gold Coast and Palms. Otherwise you have to take a shuttle to get anywhere. We ate one night at the deli and it was good. Otherwise we ate off-sight. Check- in was slow, but they had plenty of workers, it was just busy. They do have automated check in kiosks and that worked well.
"Grandma's 87th Birthday Celebration"
The Rio, a Harrahs and Caesars location. Funny thing is after a two night stay the wonderful Venetian, Grandma knew we were off to a 5night stay at the Rio. A place she calls HOME, not only of her familiarity of The Rio casino and services; but because her Marriage renewal vows with my now deceased Grandfather on their 50 wedding anniversary over 15+ years ago. She called it home! Well from check in, to horrible décor, to reduced services, to declined rating & overpriced buffet to Old/Rusted Siding on the Non Vegas strip side to HORRIBLE ADA services (the Disability guest like Grandma and I, Michele H.D.) The Rio Suites and Casino Resort is not HOME ANYMORE for Grandma and I!!! The highlight of checkin was Walter from NY and VIP services staff & Rose. (They allowed us to see the room and change to another room, after a $60 a night upgrade. The rooms available did not offer handicapped friendly folks like ourselves. So to the 19th floor we go....) The highlight of leaving to go to shows, was the Bell Desk, because they saw that my scooter and Grandma's wheelchair was promptly bought to us (But this maybe because of the PAID Receipt for the wheelchair and scooter of over $260 for 5days.) The highlight for me always was the SPA and its services. I am pleased to announce that it is the same, but could use an upgrade on the tiling in the Jacuzzi and a paint job in the Steam room and Sauna. The gym is small but over looks the pool and eye friendly when working out..So I thought (We left the Rio on day 6 and went to Green Valley Resort for 3 nights to find A NEW HOME- The SPA is AMAZING along with excellent Customer services. The Free Wheelchair and the $30 a night scooter) . Not to mention a Wonderful and buffet and a winning casino!!!) The highlight of the Food at the Rio was Chicken and Waffles, Oatmeal and Fruit, Hot Chocolate, Biscuits for Breakfast at Hash House a Go Go. But they close by 1pm. This became well known because the Breakfast ROOM SERVICE ends by 11am. WTHeck''''' No 23 hours room service at The Rio' Wow!!!! If your a coffee person, check out the Starbucks by the Spa. It is friendlier, spaces and accommodating to Regular Starbuck uses than the one by the elevators in Ipenema tower. The American Grill was busy but it is obvious that the quality of food and culinary standard is not as it was! We we return to The Rio' Grandma says that was her last stay. Not because of her age..LOL but because she prefer to leave her casino money in a place that is welcoming and keeps up the appearance she tries to for her own self. She said for me and my mother to book The Venetian and Green Valley Ranch for Valentines day. I mentioned I would talk with my host when we return home. Grandma, reminded me that I did call my host from the Guest SErvices desk when their was confusion of the Free Wheelchair and scooter that was supposed to be there as a complementary. SMH... Overall Grandma said The Rio did not spoil her birthday celebration but The Venetian made her feel special and Green Valley Ranch put the ice cream on Cake that we got from LEEDS Bakery in Henderson...
