"Great place to stay in Rio. We would stay here again."
Fresh off the plane and for our first steps in South America, this was a great choice. Location wise it sits right opposite Copacabana beach and is a 10 min walk from the lake & 15 from Ipanema. The rooftop pool was nice and had a great view. The room was really cosy with a lovely bed & a great view across Copacabana from the balcony. The buffet breakfast was great and with plenty of dietary options too. Wifi was strong and we also got a small English news bulletin posted through our door every morning. How nice! Only one negative, no locks on our 25th floor balcony doors! If we had a history of sleepwalking and/or had kids with us we would have had to have insisted on staying either lower down or elsewhere.
"Very average experience"
We had a corner room with a great view of Copacabana Beach. The room was an ok size, bright and clean, with a comfortable bed and nice crisp sheets. The bathroom was small and pretty basic, but there was good water pressure in the shower. Wifi was free and worked very well. Breakfast was not fantastic, but adequate. Only the most basic toiletries were provided. Bring your own tissues and shower gel. My advice is not to touch the minibar! Prices were exorbitant. There was no complimentary bottled water provided. In a country where you can't drink the tap water, this is pretty miserable on the management's part. There are supermarkets located a block away from the hotel, where you can buy your drinking water supply. The lifts (elevators) were horrendously slow and overcrowded. If you patronise the laundromat situated around the corner from the hotel, check everything is returned. Several items of our clothing "went missing", never to be seen again.
"Fantastic View, Average Service"
We are two women who travelled to Rio for business and shared a room. While the view is incredible, and some staff were very helpful and attentive, we did find other staff were not. Despite paying for access to the Club Floor, we did not receive a friendly welcome when checking in - although this frosty service did warm up a little during our stay. The worst experience was one night when guests next door arrived back at 10pm and began playing very loud music and singing along loudly, plus dancing and thumping. We rang Reception to ask them to deal with it, and rang again, and then rang again! We were promised that Security would attend to it, but after 45 minutes we resorted to ear plugs. This was very disappointing. Also disappointing was the fact that only two towels were provided in the bathroom, which was a bit stingy, as was the provision of only one complimentary bottle of water in the room in a country where you have to boil the water. The gym downstairs was awful and dingy, and was not included in the cost. The door staff and breakfast staff were all helpful and attentive. We ate from both the breakfast and room service - food was mixed, but overall, quite good.
"Everything I could of ask for! "
Both me and my wife stayed at the "Rio Othon Palace Hotel" on the first part of our trip to Brazil. This hotel met our every criteria. Clean rooms, clean bathroom, Clean/comfy beds and a fantastic view (both from the bedroom and other areas in the hotel). Also to add, it is in a great location!! The hotel allowed us to complete our Rio tick list with ease and comfort! They even offered some competitive prices for day trips/executions when compared with online and local tour providers (we booked two tours and they were fantastic). As for location, the hotel is basically on Copacabana beach and provide sun loungers for hotel residence only - just in front of the hotel at no additional cost). Shops, restaurants and all other amenities are all in walking distance from hotel). Breakfast was great. Plenty of options and all staff we came across were easy to approach and happy to help where possible. The hotel also offers some competitive rates for money exchange also! All in all, our stay here in Brazil was brilliant and made ever so due to the fantastic staff and facilities! The only criticism would be the fact that there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the hotel room. Not a big deal all in all.
"Brilliant location "
My husband and I stayed at the Rio Othon Palace for 5 nights during the end of September. The hotel has an excellent location on Copacabana beach, our room had a side view along the beach which was great. Along Copacabana beach are plenty of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, and just behind the hotel are plenty of back streets with more restaurants, supermarkets and shops within a few minutes walk. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which had good variety to choose from. The breakfast room also overlooked the beach which was perfect. Staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and helpful. Free wifi was very easy to use and good connection throughout the whole hotel including in the rooms. There is a pool on the rooftop which is nicely kept and again a good view over of the beach. The rooms themselves are very clean and modern. Excellent double shower and huge bed. We would definitely recommend staying here.
