"Much pampering and attention to detail!"
We had a wonderful time in Montreal. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton and it was our first time in this hotel. Everyone was terrific from the first person who greeted us until the last person to say goodbye. When we arrived, our bags were quickly removed from the car and we were greeted at the front desk with bottles of water and welcoming people. The room itself was magnificent and beyond what we expected. The room was so comfortable and it was clear they knew what a guest would need, down to providing office necessities, such as a pair of scissors, a stapler and scotch tape! We ate in the restaurant, the hotel lobby bar and also ordered room service - all three excellent! And the housekeeping staff were also excellent! I was pleasantly surprised to find Ritz-Carlton bookmarks in each of my books after the turndown service. A small detail, but I noticed. The staff sent us off on our last day with bottles of water, too. Such a nice touch. I would definitely stay here again and will consider strongly staying at other Ritz-Carlton hotels in the future. They really know how to make you feel pampered and important.
"Beautiful hotel, prime location"
I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Montréal for three nights recently and had a very pleasant time. My seventh-floor room was very spacious and had a great view of rue Sherbrooke. The room hosted many amenities such as a walk-in closet, large bathroom with bathtub, double sinks, glass-enclosed shower and toilet (a Toto with many different options of heating, washing, drying, etc.), desk, two queen beds, two chairs, and a small sofa underneath the window. I often found myself perched upon the wide window ledge reading, editing photos, or just people-watching. I ordered room service a few times after returning from cold and snowy treks through Montréal. I would definitely recommend the toasted pita and homemade hummus, which I am not ashamed to say I ordered multiple times over the trip. Each order, a very polite member of the waitstaff brought a set table up to the room, asked me about my trip, etc. The customer service here, as it is known for in the Ritz-Carlton chain, is set at a very high standard. What I found especially courteous and surprising was the fact that the concierge called multiple times offering tickets to a concert at the symphony orchestra and a Canadiens-Hurricane professional hockey game. I took up the offer for the hockey game and the seats were amazing. Definitely the best seat I've had at a hockey game. The only occasion that wasn't satisfactory was the service during afternoon tea. I would definitely recommend the tea, but I had a very hard time getting the attention of my waitress on multiple occasions. Besides that experience, I was very happy with the service at the Ritz. I also took a tour of Montréal which was booked through the hotel. On the day of the tour it was very cold and snowing, and the tour guide was very willing to accommodate to give the tour from inside a car rather than walking. I actually probably enjoyed this more than I would have a tour of just Old Montréal like originally intended, as I got to see much more of the city. Reading these reviews, you may have heard something about the pool. It is located on the penthouse level, and is raised above the floor where chairs and the lifeguard are. It has a great view of Montréal and is nice overall. My only other critique is that there is little to do inside the hotel besides the pool and two restaurants. I am assuming, however, that is only due to lack of space because of its prime location on rue Sherbrooke. It is located just across the street from the entrance of McGill University, just a block away (I believe) from an entrance to the Underground City, a short walk from the Bell Centre, and is surrounded by streets lined with luxury shops and all types of restaurants. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a high-class accommodation in the city of Montréal.
"A short but sweet stay"
My wife and had a one night stay having arrived from a cruise ship with a flight back home late the following day. We would endorse all of the positive comments already made. We did arrive early and had to do a bit of "negotiating" to check in early. Our late check out was expensive, but very welcome and comfortable. One minor criticism is that the "bar/lounge area" is not too well laid out and furnished. It could be a bit more "practical".
"Thanksgiving in Montreal"
The hotel is excellent and the staff is wonderful. They made our experience/vacation in Montreal even better. The concierge is very knowledgeable and referred us to great restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay there. We'll go back for sure!
Despite arriving in pouring rain, an anti-CETA demonstration outside, and a lobby packed with arriving and departing cruise passengers we immediately were made feeling welcome and "at home", the luggage was taken care of and the check-in formalities taken care off. As the room was not ready (it was before noon) we were promised one at 2 p.m. The only glitch was it was not, but after an unsuccessful debate with one front office staff the nice guy who had checked us in took care of this and took us upstairs. Large room, well decorated and an immense bath-room (actually two rooms) with double sinks, huge rain-shower and large tub tempted us to not leave the room except for a small bite at the very nice bar down-stairs and a trip to the pool on the top/large gym down-stairs. Breakfast was sumptuous, service - once you got passed the high-nosed lady at the entrance - superb. Concierge services, both in terms of recommendations and friendliness fantastic. A truly well taken care off, luxury experience!
