"Simply Awful...stay away...."
I was excited about my opportunity to stay at the hotel and booked a suite. The entire experience was a complete disappointment. The room was poorly decorated and actually had chilowich mats for carpet. the worst part of the room was the night club next door that stayed open till past 2 AM every night. The room was loud and impossible to sleep in. When this was presented to the staff the only response i got was "its a private club and we can't do anything about it". Not the answer one wants for 500 euros a night. The breakfast was also sub par and virtually inedible. After two nights we checked out. If going to Hvar I would not recommend this hotel at any price.
"Modern Room with Great Location"
Hvar was one of our favorite places on our Gate 1 Tour. We had read reviews about it being noisy but it was fine. Right out the door a beautiful patio to have breakfast which was excellent, or a glass of wine with friends at night. Right on the water, fun to watch all the boats and yachts, easy to choose a day tour on one of the many offered.
"Perfect location, great welcome, and a great view"
We stepped off the ferry from korcula at 8am and we're delighted to find the Riva hotel right in front of us. Although check in wasn't until later, the receptionist could have been more helpful. She took our luggage and put a priority on our room so it was ready by 10.30. Just great. After a walk up to the fortress and breakfast we returned and were able to check in. Our room was at the back, quite cute but small and dark with a view of a concrete wall. When we returned to reception she gave us a free upgrade to the room opposite. This was still a bit small and dark but a fantastic view of the harbour. We were directly over the front door but not disrupted by noise at all. It seems there is pretty effective double glazing or maybe in spelt ember it's a bit quieter generally. All in all we had a great stay, the shower was fab, decent breakfast and we enjoyed the outside terrace very much where you could while away the day people and boat watching. We stayed all over Croatia in B&B's and apartments and for the price at the Riva we got a 4 star hotel and breakfast for about 20€ more. So I reckon that to be excellent value.
"Good location but noisy "
Hvar is a great place but pretty lively in July. The hotel is on the front in a good location. We choose a sea view room which was tiny and with basic modern fittings much like any standard hotel. Also the noise was so loud at night we had to move to a back room . At £606 for 2 nights was pretty steep for the basic room.
I think that we were lucky, based on comments by others, that we had a rear facing room. No problem with noise, however, our patio had a gate opening onto a pedestrian walkway - this was only a problem when our curtains were open! The room was unusual, with the bathroom having no door and a large window facing out to the patio area! The bathroom was badly designed wet room style with glass enclosure. However, the floor level was such that shower water flowed away from the drain and flooded the bathroom. Now for more positive comments! The staff were charming and very helpful. The seating area, to the front of the hotel, was great and we spent many relaxing hours drinking wine and beer - a perfect spot for people watching and enjoying the views over the harbour. Our stay of four nights was for a family wedding and in general we were happy with our choice. Perhaps a few areas could be improved to justify a 4 star rating!
