"Home away from Home"
I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 5 years and I can honestly say I've never felt more at home at a hotel. The staff is gracious, welcoming and very accommodating. The rooms are standard, but comfortable and the restaurant offers excellent breakfast lunch and dinner. I always look forward to my return to this hotel!
"Great hotel w/ wonderful service but not Monte Carlo prices"
We stayed here for 2 nights in November 2016 after having looked at several other - non chain - hotels that were twice the price. We had a great room with a nice deck, it was quiet (most important part of a room IMO - I don't want to be unable to sleep due to noise in the hall or next door, no issues here). We really liked the location, we love walking around any city we go to and the location was convenient for lots of great restaurant and not that far to the Palace or the main harbor, both of which we walked to. What made this hotel a top pick, however, was the staff. We checked in around 6 p.m. and asked the lady at reception for a recommendation for dinner. After inquiring about what type of food gave us a great recommendation for an Italian-oriented place that also served great seafood and offered to make a reservation for us. We said we had a long travel day, coming from the US and where could we have a drink pre-dinner and gave us a suggestion a couple of blocks from the restaurant. OK, great - logistics: can you show us on a map how we get there' She produced one giving us the perspective and then said, "But we have a shuttle service, tell me what time you want to leave and they will take you there and bring you back". WOW. Sure enough the gentleman was waiting for us in the lobby when we came down and drove us there, pointing out other places we might want to try, and when we passed the restaurant made sure we knew where it was as the bar - where the staff hang out when they get off so it was not over priced as some Monte Carlo places are - was a few blocks away. We had breakfast included each day and the selection was decent, especially the breads (hey we are in France so you expect that). The service at breakfast was inconsistent, seated quickly and one day coffee offered within 30 seconds the other took over 5 minutes. They had an omelet station but I never saw anyone there, breakfast was OK, nothing special but you would not leave hungry. Lots of staff seemed to be more focused on setting tables, not sure if the hotel is separate from the restaurant as the rest of the service from front desk to housekeeping was exceptional. When we left we were joining a cruise and when I inquired about a taxi the front desk person - again they are going the extra mile - asked what time I wanted to leave. When I told them, he said our shuttle will take you sir, be down in the lobby a few minutes beforehand. Shuttle driver was waiting in the lobby to take our luggage and when we arrived at the port acted surprised when I gave him a tip - a taxi would have been much more involved and expensive. In short, make sure you look at this property before you book anywhere else in Monte Carlo. The service is top-notch.
"Convenient location , needs to be refurbished .."
This hotel has a great location, especially for the people with the boat , who needs to stay a couple of days to fill the storage with food and have the laundry done ... We had a great view from our room. But the ceilings are low, the bathroom seemed to be due for the remodeling . Good bedding but not exiting ... A lot of families with a small children. Breakfasts are very basic . Everything else is too..
Marriott is close enough to walk to Monte Carlo right on the water. Reasonable rates, nice staff. Rooms are ok but beds a bit soft . Restaurant is just ok but the staff are quite pleasant and helpful . I've stayed here before and it's consistently good. Rooms are pretty good size for European hotel especially for the price . I'll come again
"Not your classic Marriott"
I have stayed in Marriott Hotels all over the World but this one left something to be desired, it didn't seem to have a heart or a presence. We were greeted by a very snotty male receptionist. I had had an email from Marriott telling me to ask for an upgrade when I arrived at reception. I duly did and he told me very impolitely that HE decided when or if he gave an upgrade, that I should NOT ask for an upgrade. He wouldn't let me speak! Finally, I asked him if I may speak and told him that I was a Marriott member, he looked on the computer and told me impolitely that I wasn't so I showed him my card with my Marriott number, he did not apologise. He left me feeling very upset, he could see that he had gone too far, my husband, an invalid had to sit down. The receptionist then said he would upgrade me, I was not interested in an upgrade all I wanted to do was leave the hotel as I felt humiliated but my husband was too fragile, so we stayed. I didn't enjoy my time there, the welcome we got ruined my short holiday, what a waste of time and money, time, at our time of life is short, how dare he speak to me in that manner and treat me so shabbily.
