"Greek Paradise - Rocabella Hotel Mykonos"
There are some things in life, that can be perfectly summed up by an old school wanted advertisement. “Workaholic frequent flyer seeks super chic luxury hotel spa to rejuvenate and celebrate birthday in” I knew exactly what I wanted from my birthday trip. Usually you have to wait for a response to your adverts but in this instance, my holiday wish was granted by the magical Rocabella Hotel on the gorgeous island of Mykonos. I was met at the airport by Anestis whose lovely smile and care-free demeanour made the short drive to the hotel an enjoyable one. I was wowed by the scenery, as we drove to the hotel and then dumbstruck when we arrived. It was stunning !!!! Hotel reception was manned by Margarita, an absolute sweetheart. Her warm welcome and great hotel tour was the perfect way to start a vacation. My view was worthy of a slo mo movie moment. I could see for miles, unobstructed and it wasn’t just when I was sitting on my balcony, I could sit up in my bed and still see that incredible view. My deluxe sea front room, but it was so much more than the name suggests – like a super chic suite. The luxury began with the entrance where you had the option of chilling in the lounger chair or if you like me, like to curl up, in a shaded nook complete with comfy cushions. The room was architecturally perfect. Every inch had been carefully considered and was set out on a graduated mezzanine level which added depth and drama to the room, complimenting the furniture and decor placement. On the right as you entered the room, a table set up with a kettle, crockery and an assortment of teas and coffee. Just above the table perfectly positioned power points Also on the table a candle holder, that turned out to be a pivot part of hotel tradition (more of that later). Directly opposite a wall mounted TV and raised level shelf featuring vases, two mini candle lantern holders and an Ali Baba basket. My bed was huge and heavenly. Situated on a raised platform accessed by stairs or jump (yes, I chose the jump :0) that almost made me feel like I was floating. My pillows were fab for me; but if I had been one of those guests who needed to change them, included in the brilliant hotel information guide, was a pillow menu, again adding to the bespoke ‘for you’ element of the hotel, as well as things like wifi information – I have to shout out about the wifi which was fast and constant. On either side of the bed, perfectly positioned power points for your devices and opposite the bed, a tree branch adorned wardrobe, with two drawers, housed a safe, slippers and dressing gown. The bathroom was lush, cleverly set behind my raised platform bed. A deep traditional sink, a counter top of O. live’s gorgeous products, but shower cap that fitted, a sewing kit and least I forget vanity kit. The bathroom lighting was epic ! I crave decent light to create my daily fabulousicity via the power of make-up. I found it at Rocabella along with the type of shower that makes you want to get up early to use it. I was wowed by the breakfast offering at Rocabella which was simply five star. Breakfast was hosted by Dimitri, a kind warm soul who perfectly anticipated the mood and needs of his guests effortlessly and ensured the breakfast service was prompt and orderly. It wasn’t just the mix of a cooked and continental breakfast selections, the addition of dried fruits, nuts and gluten free options, ensured that breakfast was a fun, diverse, healthy and inclusive daily joy. When I hear the words ‘hotel services’ usually groan as it means a template of bland standard traveller must haves that you’re glad you’re have, but most of the time aren’t blown away by. This was not the case at Rocabella. The gym was private, so no gawking spectators while whipping your body into shape, just a well-equipped fitness hub that had everything a fitness addict on holiday could wish for. My highpoint however, on hotel services list was of course the spa. From the diverse and well balanced spa menu, I choose a 50 minute massage. My masseur Pavlos was wonderful. What I loved about him, apart from his amazing masseur skills, was his obvious expertise and attention to detail. He didn’t just ask me about massage pressure, he correctly identified a physical weakness I have on the right side of my neck and was able to show me how to look after it; which I greatly appreciated. My interest in aromatherapy was reignited by a lovely hotel custom performed by Vicky, who visited my room nightly with a selection of oils for me to choose from and combined this with lighting my candles, flooding my room with a variety of beautiful scents. Her insightful knowledge of the beneficial qualities of the oils was delightful, as was her friendly engaging manner. What did I think of this custom …totally divine. A unique quirky tradition that made me feel special and gave me my daily Beyonce moment of having my room scented to my request. If you’re new to Mykonos you must, must book a tour of the island via Rocabella reception with their guide Tasos. Tasos is one of those tourist guides who combines a killer personality with a forensic knowledge of the island. His natural instinctive way of judging, just what type of tour knowledge and format works for individual tour parties is a standard many a tour guide aspire to, but never quite attain. He compliments the Rocabella team beautifully and is a wonderful hotel bonus. I arrived at Rocabella in major need of some chill time. What I found was a unique, beautiful hotel staffed by a group of passionate, friendly consistently engaged, hospitality professionals who made every effect to ensure I had a great time including a surprise birthday cake, which was delicious. Finally, I must give a special shout out to Rocabella Hotel Manager Alan. His strong, meticulously efficient, focused management style, was a joy to witness. The relationship he has with his team, was a perfect example of how a luxury hotel can offer an original, high quality product and marry it with the very highest standards in hospitality. It goes without saying that I am already desperately looking for gaps in my work schedule so I can return to Rocabella as soon as possible.
"Perfect island hotel"
The Rocabella strives to offer the most pristine guest experience imaginable. Alan, Vicky, and Dimitris go above and beyond expectations in ensuring that you have the most comfortable stay possible. The rooms are Greek island chic, and that aesthetic carries over throughout the rest of the hotel as well. The effect is that you end up staying in a 5-star luxury hotel that actually manages to have character and soul. The breakfast is superb - easily the best interpretation of a continental breakfast I have yet come across. Will definitely be coming back here!
"The perfect stay - it made our honeymoon"
We booked into the Rocabella hotel for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon in June 2016. Having just married at a luxury 5* hotel in Lake Como we were sad to leave Italy but excited to visit Mykonos for the first time and to stay at Rocabella having read all of the great reviews. We absolutely LOVED every single thing about this hotel. From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel very special and looked after. Alan is simply the best at his job, he welcomed us with a glass of champagne and sat down with us to tell us about the area and to help provide us with ideas of how to spend our days there. He then proceeded to take us to our room, a complimentary upgrade as it was our honeymoon, which was simply amazing. After he left us to it, my husband and I just looked at it each other and both said 'WOW'. It got better and better from there. The hotel is fairly small but beautiful, and the pool area is really chilled and relaxing. We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night as we were too tired to go out, it wasn't particulary busy but we appreciated the quietness and the food was fantastic. Breakfast the next day... again, WOW. A huge selection to cater for all tastes. Safe to say we came home a lot heavier that when we arrived. Alan also took the opportunity at b/fast to chat with his guests, which was a really nice touch. We also took advantage of the complimentary massage on our first day, which was simply fantastic - we booked in another 2 massages with Ana before the end of the week as she was so good. All of the staff at Rocabella are absolutely brilliant, so friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be around. They handled all of our restaurant reservations and transfers - they couldn't do enough for us. (I wish I could remember all of their names so I can personally thank them!) My husband and I travel a lot and I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will return to Rocabella one day and recommend this hotel to family and friends time and time again. A huge thank you to Alan and the Rocabella team for making our trip so perfect, we can't wait to come back :) Kate & Dan x
"A trip to heaven"
This hotel is not for people who want's to save money on their holiday :) We really liked this hotel and the breakfast was also very good. The staff was polite and you could take easy tours with satelitebus to mykonos town. I liked the jazuzzi a'lot :)
"Boutique Hotel with family feel!"
I can't say enough about the staff and experience at Rocabella. I went during the New Year and although there was not much to do in Mykonos due to the season, the Rocabella team did their best to accommodate us. They ordered delivery for us, made reservations at the restaurants, and treated us very well. Accommodations are lovely. Very simple and clean with a gorgeous patio if you have a suite. There is a beach nearby that could be in walking distance. They also have a great outdoor pool. Breakfast buffet is served daily with different options. My favorite part was doing a traditional New Year's cake cutting in the lobby w/ all the guests of the resort. Served w/ champagne as well! Will definitely be back when it gets warmer!
