Visited Rocabella for a friends daughters wedding. A beautiful spa hotel on the cliffs overlooking the lagoon of the old volcano. Superb views, lovely pools (4) and great staff. Could do with a more varied menu and heating in the main pool. Beware lots of stairs.
"Phenomenal Wedding & Stay!"
Last May my, now, husband and I were married at Rocabella and it was the best day of our lives!! Between the outstanding service of the wedding planner, Katerina, and the generous staff, we were completely taken care of. In the months leading to our big day and the amount of nerves starting to settle in, Katerina was great at easing those emotions, especially because we were half a world away. We had Skype sessions, phone calls, and regular e-mail communication. She was fantastic! Also, as far as the hotel itself, WOW!! I have been lucky enough to enjoy Santorini a few times and Rocabella just nailed it. It has the best location for a true get-a-way from it all stay and it is simply the best view you can get in all of Santorini. Its private and romantic, a true dream come true. We actually loved it so much...we're going back to stay at Rocabella for our one year wedding anniversary!!
"Can't recommend enough!"
Rocabella is a beautiful resort with amazing views of the caldera. Our host, Georgios and the team was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable, helping with our bags, providing recommendations on places to eat and see, and being helpful throughout. They even provided us a doggie bag for breakfast when we had to check out early to catch our flight. Highly recommended!
We stayed there with our 11 month baby in the honeymoon suite. All the staff was amazing! They were very friendly, always with a smile!!!!The room was great with an amazing view to Oia and Thirasia. The hot tub of the room helped us to relax and enjoy the views from our balcony! If we come back to Santorini we will definitely stay here again! Highly recommended!!!!!
"Mostly great stay"
My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon in Greece and Santorini and stayed at the Rocabella in the middle of winter. First, the hotel is in a beautiful location. You can't beat the sunsets here--even better than in Oia, and it's perched on top of a cliff, so the views are completely unobstructed. Winter is not the best time to visit Santorini, as we were hit with hurricane-like weather on the last two days of our trip. We paid for a cliff-side room with a spa overlooking the caldera, and the view was fantastic. However, the "spa" is more like a lukewarm bath. It was probably 35 degrees outside, and the water temperature was maybe in the low 80s. It ended up being too cold to sit in. The room itself was just okay...not the luxury accommodations I was expecting. The biggest problem is there is absolutely no ventilation in the room, so when you take a shower, the entire bathroom gets soaking wet, and the whole room becomes a bit suffocating. There was mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom as a result. It also rained quite a bit, and water started seeping in under the door into the room. It could be that Santorini hotels are just not equipped to handle the weather we experienced, but it did create a mess on the floor in our room. We found the staff at Rocabella to be very friendly, but there was an inconsistent attention to detail. For example, there was no soap in the bathroom, and we had to ask for toilet paper multiple times throughout the visit without it being replenished naturally. Also, service at breakfast was a bit chaotic and disorganized, as there was only one staff person available to replenish the bar and serve all the customers at once. She seemed very stressed unable to handle the pressure. Again, it could be that during the winter months this hotel is a bit short-staffed. We did really appreciate the staff offering to let us stay in another room until our flight left in the evening due to the horrible weather. Surprisingly, the cheaper, standard room away from the cliffside was much newer construction and actually had much nicer touches than our cliffside spa room. We would probably choose to pay less and stay there next time, given the issues we had with our spa room. Overall, this was a beautiful hotel with just a few kinks to work out in the winter months.
