Great location!!! Friendly and helpful staff. Clean. The rooms facing the interior are not so good. avoid them. the rooms facing the street are better but may be noisy on weekends. breakfast is not great. you may find much nicer options outside.Comment of G. Avraham , Israel the 2015-10-13
"Really, REALLY.... As good as it gets!!!!"
Ok. So I am the kind of person who rarely, I mean that, RARELY, posts reviews online for many many reasons... however... this TIME, I will. The location, was unbeatable (I wanted to spend all the time I could at the Prado and other museums, and it was easy to walk everywhere and right by public transportation). The room was immaculately clean with lovely toiletries provided; the breakfast (both the lovely server and the quality and variety) unbeatable. The room was small, but having lived in New York City, I kind of expect that in big cities anyways, so no problem for me. Plus, I travel solo. And, last, but not least at all... the attentiveness, kindness, patience, professionalism, friendliness and warmth of the staff in the reception made my stay in Madrid one of my favorites after traveling for three weeks in Spain. I can possibly be described as a "pain in the neck" by guest service providers, with my insisting on asking about special places in less touristy areas... like corners, parks, spots, walks, restaurants only a local would know....I got some excellent recommendations from Pablo, a madrileño in heart and soul, who was always a joy to chat with and who greeted me on my arrival to the hotel upon arriving in Madrid: I was always greeted with a smile, excellent suggestions, interesting conversation, and a map to find my merry way, along with his patient directions. Pablo was also able to help me with some changes in my itinerary, which could have been a mess, but it was easily fixed thanks to Pablo and the very accommodating management. The entire staff, from the person who helped me out of the cab with my bags on arrival, to the last farewells I got from Helena, who supervised the breakfast buffet, and Jose at the Front Desk were amazing. I will definitely make this my top choice for my next stay in Madrid. Congrats to the entire team. You are all awesome!
"Perfect location, friendly & quirky"
We were upgraded to a duplex room with large rooftop terrace and splash pool with views over square. Fantastic location - old town, palace, galleries & gardens all easily walkable. Staff are lovely and very helpful with restaurant, bars & sightseeing recommendations. Breakfast is in small quirky restaurant - nice choice of buffet and a very relaxed help yourself affair. Would definitely stay here on my return to Madrid.
"Friendly, centrally located"
This hotel has a young "vibe" but as somewhat older visitors we felt welcome. Be sure to get the address, phone number, and the name of the plaza (Santa Ana) where they are. Our cab driver had to call them to get directions from the main train station. The room was comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, quickly adding a night when our return flight to the US was canceled due to weather and we had to return to the states. And they said they would call a cab to meet us at 5:45 AM when we had to leave, and it was there. The breakfast, even if there is an extra charge is excellent with many healthy choices. And they offer service to early risers as well as those who were up late at night, serving from 7:00-noon. The only issue was our room was too warm. We were there in March and it was not hot -- no more than about 18 C or 65 F during the day and cooler at night, but for some reason our room was hot. The desk staff explained that the HVAC system was set only to heat, not to cool. They did provide a fan and with open windows the second night was much more comfortable. One other critique. I don't object to nude art, but I did find the animated female nude sketch on a loop an irritating and somewhat disrespectful part of the lobby and registration, I would be glad to return on another trip.
"Our favorite place to stay in Madrid"
We always stay at the Room Mate Alicia in Madrid. We go to Spain every year and we stop in Madrid on our way to Granada. The Alicia is on the beautiful square of Santa Ana, great bars and cafes and very close to the literary neighborhood, Letras. We love this hotel, so conveniently located, within walking distance of the train station, the prado. We love walking to the Cascorro neighborhood, the Plaza de Tirso de Molina, the more typical neighborhoods of Madrid. Room Mate Alicia' Two thumbs up!
