Situated directly on Ocean Drive, south of Fifth Street, in a neighbourhood better known as “SoFi” to the Miami Beach locals, Room Mate Lord Balfour is just a stone's throw away from the beach and Lummus Park. Nestled in the historic Art Deco district, Room Mate Lord Balfour is within close proximity of the city’s ever-expanding arts and culture scene, shopping options, restaurants and nightlife hotspots.
+ big rooms, comfortable beds, beautiful design, quiet rooms, clean, good shower, very good real cocktails at the bar, private beach! - very little bathroom, little space for clothes, breakfast is very basicComment of V. Hilde , Belgium the 2016-02-22

"spectacular personnel, good++ hotel"
on Ocean Drive, just south of the south beach craziness, but a 3 minute walk away, couldnt have been better. Of note was the staff: always pleasant , accommodating, and helpful; theyve earned the 5 stars. room was comfortable and quiet. of note was the night clerk "Laz", he did everything in his power to help in our stay.
"Good location, clean, quiet hotel"
Very nice and stylish hotel with a nice bar, gym, breakfast (not included). My room was rather small with a huge bed, but ok for a weekend stay. Friendly staff, great location next to the beach, nice breakfast and very quiet at night.
"Awesome relaxing stay!"
I just returned from a relaxing 4 nights at the Lord Balfour and can't say enough good things about the hotel and it's staff. The location is on Ocean Drive but 2 blocks away from the noise and nightlife of the main strip of Art Deco hotels. The hotel is clean and comfortably hip with a wonderful staff to help you enjoy Miami. Devin the Front Desk Manager goes above and beyond. His staff mates Juan, Gilbert the Bellman and a young lady whose name escapes me, will treat you like royalty. She had recommended the restaurant inside the hotel and even came to check on me to see how I liked it. Chef Vincent's restaurant is a nice choice for the breakfast buffet, lunch or dinner and has a outdoor porch for great people watching. Michelle the owner even recommended other dining options outside the hotel property away from the tourist traps. The beach is just a 1/2 block away and the small resort fee covers towels, chairs, cushions and a large umbrella. A short walk to the close by Walgreens will stock you with sunscreen, adult beverages and other supplies including fresh fruit and beach food. I had a room on the 4th floor which faced Ocean Drive and while there was some construction noise during the day from their expansion, it was never a problem. When I did report noisy young spring break neighbors, the night manager took care of it in no short order and there was silence immediately. Great hotel, great staff and great location. I will return!
"Straightforward and clean with local enthusiasm and neighbourly smiles"
Stayed overnight between a transatlantic and a local connection. Staff were helpful and recognised that getting to the room was our first priority. Room was clean and quiet if bathroom small and dark but funky! Upon reappearing we were offered a lift RH the airport in the morning for a modest fee and the breakfast was expansive. Nice. Good Value.
"Nice, convenient, comfortable, reasonably priced place with good service"
The location is good, two blocks from the beach and on the south end of ocean boulevard, between the party area and the quieter residential area. So you can easily walk to the park and the bars and the shops in the heart of Miami beach, but the hotel itself is more quiet. You can also walk to the more "neighborhood" restaurants south of it. It is a small boutique hotel, but nice, modern artistic ambiance, the rooms and the bathrooms are on the smaller side but comfortable and nicely done, modern, clean and functional, the bathrooms very modern. The restaurant/bar has street-side terrace area and inside small courtyard. The service is great overall. The valet parking is great and (while not cheap, nothing in South beach is, so avoid having car if you can help it)it is cheaper than the rate on the street or other public garages. They give you towels and umbrella for the beach and the closest to walk south area of the beach is nice and quieter. The breakfast was not included and fairly basic - if included, take it, it is convenient, but for 14$, I would rather find a real brunch place with actual menu, even if it is a few extra $. The hotel value is good for the area, so overall, if you don't want to be right in the middle of the party scene or if you don't need the large/swimming pool/spa resort hotels (which come at steeper price), and you want a nice, convenient, reasonably priced place with good service, I recommend this hotel.
