Nestled in the historic Art Deco district, Room Mate Lord Balfour is within close proximity of the city’s ever-expanding arts and culture scene, shopping options, restaurants and nightlife hotspots.
+ big rooms, comfortable beds, beautiful design, quiet rooms, clean, good shower, very good real cocktails at the bar, private beach! - very little bathroom, little space for clothes, breakfast is very basicComment of V. Hilde , Belgium the 2016-02-22

"Holidays in Miami"
This hotel is really nice! Is not the classic building facing the beach but it's just behind... is located anyway on ocean drive, so very good position! We found it very clean and also the staff is always nice and at the customer disposal, anytime!
"Pretty basic but does the job"
Fairly simple hotel, not as fancy as some of the other places in Miami but was clean and service was good enough. We only stayed one night anyway. Great location on Ocean Drive, and didn't break the budget.
"Trendy boutique on the quiet southside of Miami Beach"
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Lord Balfour. It had been a couple of years since I last visited, so it was nice to see some familiar faces when I first arrived. The prior Front Desk Attendant has now become the Manager (really nice guy, great customer service). The hotel still looked like it was in great shape and fresh. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. The gym is kind of small, but not a big deal, you can still get a nice workout/run in before you head out for the day. The buffet/breakfast was very good and the coffee was excellent. Regarding the location, I love sitting on their patio in the morning, have a cup of coffee and people watch. The beach is right across the street, so you can grab a towel from the front desk, cross the street and be on the beach in no time. On this trip, I took a walk to the south side pier/rocks where the cruise ships arrive. In the evenings, you have plenty of options. You can head over to Miami/Brickell/Coral Gables, head up north to Lincoln Mall Road, or just stick around the hotel to Ocean Drive and the surrounding restaurants. On this trip, I met up with a good buddy of mine and we had dinner at Common Wealth off 12th street and Washington. After dinner, we headed south down to 2nd Street and had a drink at Radio Bar. At the end of the night, I strolled back over to the hotel to close out the night. I did have a minor issue when paying bill for breakfast. I was using a credit card and wanted a receipt, but due to the arrangement the hotel has with the company providing the breakfast, they could not give me a receipt for some reason. Not a huge deal, I just paid in cash. One other thing I noticed that was different than my first visit, is that on the outside patio, there is a little more advertising about sport, drink, food specials, etc., probably to compete the businesses a little further up on Ocean Drive. A little distracting/tacky, but not the end of the world. All in all, if you’re looking for a great, quiet, intimate place in a great location, look no further.
We stayed at this hotel for 9 nights. First impression was good. Nice lobby area with a bar. The staff here are very friendly and always happy to help. The room was adequate for our type of stay. The bathroom we found would give out a strong odour from the shower area after we used it and would remain until it was cleaned again the next morning. The air conditioning was functioning well. The beds were comfortable. Some mornings we experienced noises from the room above, people walking, floor not insulated. Breakfast was a bit of a let down in fact we only ate there once. Some times we would enjoy drinks from the bar and must say that some of the cocktails need some improvements. We had paid for sun beds, beach umbrella and beach towels, very handy and the guy at the beach very friendly. The beach is very close to the hotel and we loved it. All in all the place was adequate but believe it could have offered more for the price we paid.
We stayed for weekend in February. We flew into Fort Lauderdale and made the quick and easy trip to Miami Beach with an Uber car. The hotels location is the best. It has the best access to a lot of things, including the beach, restaurants, shopping and tour bus stops. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. It’s close to everything but far enough way of the hustle and bustle of Ocean Drive which was really nice and probably the best benefit of staying here. The room was also clean and of average size, however the bathroom was a little small, but it was clean. We had breakfast at the hotel which was an average hotel style buffet breakfast, it was convenient. The hotel staff was helpful with recommending restaurants and offering suggestions on different places to go. There’s a lot of places to choose from and it can be overwhelming and hard to make a decision. You also have to pay attention to your bill, so many places included the gratuity in the dinner bill, so take an extra look at any dining bill before you make your payment. All in all, we had a wonderful time and we would recommend the hotel and South Beach Miami for weekend getaway.
