"Good Staff , average food"
I arrived late but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was a good size. Had room service but it was poor quality expected better from Rotana! Especially a since I have experienced other Rotana hotels in the GCC.
"Reaching the sky"
Two nights on the 65 th floor was with amazing views was the pinnacle of a very enjoyable weekend. We were thrilled to think we were in the second highest hotel room in the world, the hotel being the second tallest in the world. The staff could not have done more to accommodate us. Although the rooms were small and the furniture dark, the beds were extremely comfortable. We had an adjoining room to the Premier Suite and there was a better sense of space with the bedroom separate from the lounge with a view looking down Sheikh Zayed Road. The only disadvantage was the time taken for the lifts to arrive. The Club room on the sixth floor was spacious and comfortable with the breakfast, up till 11 am, afternoon snacks from 3 to 5 pm and evening nibbles from 6 to 8 pm. Not sumptuous amounts of food but adequate. The second morning saw the morning fog envelop the surrounding buildings with only four of the tallest buildings peaking out from the fog. The fog also swirled around the fourth floor swimming pool at 7.00 in the morning and even then the temperature was delightful, with the children pool even warmer. This we followed by a jacuzzi, warm, relaxing and bubblicious. By ten am the sun had burnt off the fog to reveal a beautiful sunny day. Because it is a non alcoholic hotel it is very good for families and very well situated for shopping at Dubai Mall, Festival City, City Centre, The Walk and Mercato Mall. It is also close the to WTC and the Exhibition Centre for business with the metro station very close by. All in all the hotel served the purpose of providing a relaxing weekend experience. However, the price paid per room was expensive and the hotel in general lacked a five star welcoming and spacious lobby.
"Disappointing stay. Definitely not four star hotel. Tried to scam us on taxi fare."
With previous reviews, star rating, and price, we were expecting much more than this. The staff seemed stressed, the room was quite small and dark, and the breakfast was sub-par. Worst of all: We were going to take a taxi to Mall of the Emirates. Outside the hotel, a man in hotel uniform approached us and asked us where we were going. He offered us a "special, fixed price", which was way higher than expected. We wisely ignored him and flagged down a taxi of our own. The actual fare was 30% lower than the one offered by the hotel. We didn't think a high-class hotel in Dubai would try this classic scam. They probably thought we were tourists, and not seasoned ex-pats. If this was a three-star hotel, with prices to match, we would probably have given it a higher rating.
We stayed at this hotel for the second time and we loved everything about it. We had a room on the 38th floor with an amazing view. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was so comfortable and the kitchen was perfect. The pool is located in the 4th floor with beautiful view and the breakfast is served in the first floor, again, with beautiful view to the skyscrapers and metro line. The location is great, just a few steps away from the Financial Center metro station and there are many cafes, a pharmacy and exchange offices around it. We will choose this hotel again for our next trip to Dubai.
