Just 3 minutes’ walk from Holborn Underground station, Rosewood London is ideally located for transport links around the capital, and direct access to Heathrow Airport.
I really liked the property, the building is beautiful and the rooms are very comfy. The service is very refined but I would have expected someone warmer to make you feel more welcomed. It is not a complaint but being mexican I am used to more friendliness. I will definetely go back. I loved their bar scarves with the live music, great drinks, food and ambience.
"Another destination hotel"
We chose this hotel having been ever so impressed by their Beijing property and The Rosewood London didnt disappoint. We took two rooms 148 and 518. Both rooms were well appointed and very tastefully if a touch sparsly finished. The walls in particular were bare painted and showed some signs of a tightening budget on what must have been a very very expensive conversion. The bathrooms were on the other hand, lavish. I particularly liked the unlikely combination of clear vanity mirrors, smoked mirrors and antique patinaed uneven mirror tiles in the bathrooms; quite a combination that worked so well. How i wish i had the eye! Only thing is like most London hotels, there is no separate shower stall plus bathtub; just a shower in the bathtub in 148 and only a shower with no bath in 518. Volumetrically, the rooms must be double the size of the average London 5* norm, thanks to the close on 15 foot ceilings. Window openings were however, small in comparison but this was just as well given the crowded views around the property. 148 faced a building site and 518 had head height window openings and afforded only light but no real views. We loved the very cosy charm of Scarfes bar and enjoying the live jazz and cabaret acts starting at 8pm was a great way to spend an evening making full use of the hotel. We also tried dinner at both the Holborn Dining room which i found to be no more than mediocre and the Mirror Room; great value given the lovely premises and much much higher quality. The gym is split into two smallish sections, one for cardio and the other for strength training. Fit for purpose with Technogym equipment but not particularly impressive in scale or variety. Regardless, a great source of free bottled water and bananas! There is no pool in this hotel. The spa at basement level is very popular and you need to book your slot as soon as you check in. The fitness and wellness facilities are nothing compared with their sister hotel in Beijing but this is London and the competition are similarly constrained on space except perhaps for the spa at The Langham but then again the Langham hotel rooms are micro in size compared to the ones at the Rosewood. Service was impeccable. We had poorly packed some bottles of specialist tonic water concentrates in one of our soft bags and on having the bags stored, the bottles were broken and caused quite a mess. On returning to collect our bags, woe and behold, they had gone out and got us replacement bottles for free. Now, that was a nice surprise. In conclusion, lots of character, lots of soul, service that made us feel special and the antithesis to the hotel we were moving on to; the Singapore run Royal Garden Hotel on High Street Kensington. You might want to read that review if you're looking to staying in Kensington.
"Brief stay in London"
Overall, very good. Immediately happy to see Pearl, the hotel dog, in the lobby! Room was nice and everyone was very welcoming and helpful. We had a few small issues, but nothing that would deter us from coming again. Not great service in the Holborn Grill, but the food was good.
My wife and I stayed in the Rosewood London for 3 nights in February, and it was a wonderful stay in such a luxurious property. From the check-in experience, Rodrigo had such a warm welcome for us and showed us to our rooms while briefly explaining the amenities. Although our Grand Executive room was next to the service room where you can hear the workers push their carts, it was a minor nuisance in the daytime. However, thanks to Olivia, they moved us to a room that was in a quieter area of the property. The property is amazing, from its grand marble lined staircases, the grand Holburn room for cocktails, to the Art Afternoon Tea, the Rosewood London is an oasis in a large city.
Romantic weekend that was made more special by the attention shown by all the employees. I really enjoyed the breakfast in the Mirror the first morning, the second morning we decided to try the Holborn and it did not end well. We waited 25 minutes for an omelette and avocado toast, we ended up leaving without tasting it and with all the excuses from the staff. It was the only disappointment of a great stay. Room was spacious, turndown amenities with bottle of water. We loved the apples and candy in front of the elevator, as well as the dog and birds, and it was a real pleasure to exchange with the french concierge that assisted us with directions. Would love to come back and try the Spa.
