We wanted somewhere special to celebrate New Year with friends who were en route from the UK to Spain. Deauville ticked all the location boxes and Le Royal all those for a hotel. It's costly but it's also huge value for money. From the moment you arrive to the second you leave you are treated like royalty or a film star - you choose. The breakfast buffet takes that phrase beyond anything you could imagine. The New Year's Eve Dinner was fantastic and the live music a real joy. We've started saving our pennies for another visit.

Hotel Barriere breaks away two myths that existed ...at least for me...first that the french hospitality borders on slight indifference and second that the luxury chains in India and Thailand have an authority on amazing hospitality. I stayed at Barriere for 3 days and it was nothing short of phenomenal ... From the time I checked in (except one minor issue of not sending my luggage up quickly as was rushing to speak at the conference center across) to the service at breakfast and housekeeping in general was meticulous. I see some reviews that its dated and usually I prefer modern clean format hotels but this was straight out old world luxury without feeling dated. I loved the size of the room- it was huge with a gorgeous balcony (although it was freezing cold so never sat out). Whatever I requested from housekeeping was sent efficiently without much wait. The room was always clean and I am quite picky. I had read some reviews that you could hear people from adjoining rooms - I must have gotten lucky with the room as it was really quiet (stayed in 417) I did not eat anything other than breakfast at the hotel and it was like any other luxury hotel breakfast- good. There was a cute little bar to the side which looked so cosy that would have loved to grab a drink but unfortunately did not have the time to do so. Checkout was super fast and no hassle considering there were several people checking out that day because of the conference. I appreciated the fact that the hotel maintained its level of service with such a large conference crowd. There was someone who did give me a tour of the spa but that was the only place where I didn't care for the decor. I didn't use the spa so cant comment on the service. Loved that there was a cake and a welcome note from the GM in the room on my first day of stay. Thought that was a great touch. Thank you Cyril and team for a fabulous stay. Hotel Barriere feels like home (in all the best ways possible), when I make it back to Deauville this will be where we come back to

Since the moment I arrive all the staff members received me with a big smile and excellent service attitude, the room service was efficient, housekeepers very helpful, it general this hote exceeded my expectations.... if I come again to Deuville For sure I will stay at the Royal!
"Nice but in need of a facelift."
This hotel is perfectly located for the seafront and the towns restaurants. The staff are 1st class and very helpful . We stayed during a French bank holiday and the hotel was nearly full so we had to wait for a table at breakfast. The place is very grand but really is in need of a facelift and refurbish , the rooms are a bit old fashioned and tired . If you are flying into Deauville "local" airport as we did you should book a taxi via the hotel because there weren't any taxis when we landed .
