"Where the action is..."
If you want to be where the action is, then this is the hotel for you. Stayed at this hotel as conference held here. If you want to get rest, even though the hotel provides ear plugs, forget it especially if they give you a room on Bourbon street. You will do better requesting a courtyard room which my friends requested but even they could here the onsite jazz club music until about 11 pm. Waited in line over 20 min to check in and got to room which was terribly loud at 4 pm from street noise on Bourbon so wanted to see if I could get a room change but no answer at the front desk which I was later told by staff they were told not to answer when the desk is busy (glad I didn't have an emergency). No concierge working so asked about a room change from front desk and was told I had to wait in line again (another 20 minutes!). First told no open rooms and I could come back tomorrow and move but they "found" a room thankfully. Got to room and found a wet, dirty towel on back of bathroom door which made me wonder if the room was really clean. Tried to call front desk but no surprise, no answer and didn't want to "wait in line again" to complain. After the first night, the stay got better but street noise is still an issue even on the Conti side. I would not stay here again.
"My three days in New Orleans "
We stayed at the Royal Sonesta as a first part celebration in celebrating 25 yrs together We arrive early evening after traveling all day from Seattle Our room was very small and more suited for a single due to slanted ceilings but bed was so comfy The staff was not as friendly as I experienced in less expensive hotels No welcome or how are you or how can we tell you about what we have to offer. When we arrived in our room after a short time the AC started to rattle very loudly and after calling the front desk a very kind man came up to spend about five mins and after leaving it started up again We were exhausted after getting dinner we called down and they said they would come up in the morning After a night of little sleep I called down and asked to be moved they said they would do so just come down and get key but we request bell man to come because we were a long way from front desk They moved us to a beautiful room over looking courtyard Great room one that I thought we had reserved in the first place We were happy ( bed not as comfy) But oh well Loved opening the doors to the courtyard down below and the pool down the way The rest of our stay was fine No great service to report The gym which I use everyday during travel had machines that I couldn't view tv's even after asking 4 times and four different ways
"ON BOURBON STREET"
It is right in the middle of all the Bourbon street action. Is a beautiful old hotel with lovely lobby. Was disappointed in the service. We had to call everyday for clean towels and coffee. For the high price we paid i expected better maid service. everything else was fine. check in was very good gave us great information as to where to eat etc.
"Staf was very helpful gave you a little extra to enjoy your NO experience."
We were 3 friends who never traveled to New Orleans. We found Darin Stearns direct us to the best resterances and sights to see. He was very helpful with directions to points of interest within walking distance of hotel. Hotel is located so you can walk to everything, we only weed cab to go to airport. We had Patrica Hollins who also assisted us with ideas during out breakfast. Have recommended hotel to friends going to New Orleans.
"A Diamond in the Rough"
Beautiful hotel & excellent service on the RClub level. Jessica was amazing & assisted us with reservations, directions & tour recommendations to which we were not disappointed. She was so friendly & helpful & nothing was too much trouble. Patricia & Eboni in the RClub were amazing. So friendly & their service was excellent. They had a genuine interest in getting to know you & also wanted to make sure that we were well taken care of & made sure we knew what was happening in the area. We wanted to experience Bourbon St & although we didn't enjoy it, the hotel was the perfect location & walking distance to the French Quarter, markets & shopping etc. Would definitely stay there again & recommend this hotel to anyone as it was so clean & our room was very luxurious
