"Good Hotel with a lot of Ups and Downs"
I stayed in the hotel for 2 days (Friday to Sunday) and it was a delightful experience. Their qualities are really confusing, offering some real 5 star hotel services, but lacking really bad on some other features. The room was remodeled, with an OK bed, old TV (but an LCD one), real wood furniture, AMAZING view and a really old bathroom. So when I was in my room, it look liked a 5 star hotel, but when I entered the bathroom, it looked liked I was send back to a 2~3 star hotel. Not what I was expecting. The service is good. Some people a really nice and helpful, but other are not. Nothing exceptional or bad to comment about. Breakfast is really good. Lot's of variety with really good quality. I really liked. And it was from 6am to 11am, which is great! I got the room on a flash deal the Hotel does one Monday per month. Really great value. But everything in the hotel was so expensive! My God! They try to charge me 90BRL for renting a bicycle for 1 day, but in front of the hotel they had a really good quality public bikes for 5BRL for 24 hours!!! Renting at the hotel is 18 times more expensive!!! Beer was 14BRL, water 6.50BRL, and there forth. The only thing I thought had good value was the room service. Would could pay 40BRL for a Cheeseburger (really expensive), but you could pay 58BRL for a Shrimp Risotto (great value)!!! The location is complicated. Is nearby a colossal "favela", called "Rocinha" and there is not a lot of restaurants and bars nearby. So if you are going there to enjoy the night, it's not ideally located. But during the day is perfect. They have a small beach in front of the hotel which is great for walking and riding bikes. I got my bike and went to Barra neighborhood and was a great ride!!! Overall, I recommend and will be back to the hotel.
"The most gracious staff at a beautiful location"
loved staying here. the location is perfect, being directly across the street from the beach. perfect for the morning run and beautiful mountain views. i was here for the olympic games and it couldn't be more perfect. the rooms were very comfortable and very clean. the staff were very helpful and friendly. yes you can tell that there were rooms that were renovated and others were not but that still did not hinder having a great stay there. I cannot stress enough how amazing the staff was and their willingness to help with anything. it is also literally a 10-15 min cab or uber ride from Ipanema and leblon, 20 minutes to copacabana. Wifi is easily accessible and hardly any interruptions. the restaurant at the hotel is great, the bar is a great place to hang out.. if you don't want to eat at the hotel, the Fashion Mall is steps away where you can find great restaurants and shops...i highly recommend Farm for awesome clothes. thanks royal Tulip...i miss you already
"Comfy 3 week stay during the Olympics"
Stayed here for three weeks during the Olympics and found the hotel to be comfy and hospitable. The room was cleaned daily although some days it was better than others. The bed was comfy and I had a lovely view from my 11th floor balcony of the beach on the right and the favela on the left. On clear days you could see Christ the Redeemer which was pretty awesome. Breakfast was great, there was a good selection of hot and cold food - omelettes made to order, waffles, bacon, grilled tomatoes, toast, cold meats and cheese, yoghurt and some really good fruit. The only thing you need to be wary of is the VERY attentive staff, often they cleared your plate and cups before you were finished! The cost of the hotel was covered by the company I was working for so I can't comment on whether it's good value for money. In terms of location - it's not bad, right on the beach which is nice and the 24hour bar serves some great food and drink although it's fairly price - on par with top London hotels (£8 and up for a glass of wine). Leblon and Ipanema are about a 15minute cab journey away, I think if you want more hustle and bustle and ease of accessing these places and Copacabana it might be better to stay here but for our work this was a good location.
"An place to stay in Rio"
I have stayed at this hotel a few times through work and stayed for 3 weeks during the Rio Olympics. The rooms are ok but nothing special. They were renovated but still not nice for what they charge. Although the service is friendly, we had several issues in our big group and they took a long time to fix. The food is average to bad. The pool is nice!
"Good hotel next to the beach"
Good location, good stuff, named as a four star, but even better than some so called five star houses. The beach nearby is beaitiful and you'll get a eoom wirh a nice sea view. The sea is even rough not really good for swimming but having a sun bath.
