"First visit to Barcelona "
After procrastinating for to long we found the center of Barcelona booked out during our mid to late October visit so we booked at Salles which is about 20 to 30 minutes walk from the center of town. The hotel is fairly modern and quite large. We stayed in room 625 and there were at least another two floors above us. The rooms are a good size and well serviced. The staff were excellent going out to help guide us around the city. While it is not a small boutique hotel like we love staying in we have no complaints and would certainly stay here again. One last point, while i mentioned the Salles is a little way from town taxis are plentiful and extremely cheap costing only 6-8 € to go to center of the city.
"Flying visit, but all good."
I was only here for one night, but i really did like this hotel. i was on the top floor (8th) which had a nice balcony outside and a pretty cool view over the city. The Air Conditioning in the room worked very well, but I couldn't quite get the balance was after and although the bed was very comfy the covers were a little thin for me. I confess freely that the Air Con could well have been user error, and as I said it was very effective. The shower was good, and amenities in the room were not bad complimentary soft drinks in the fridge was a really nice touch, and much appreciated. In terms of location this hotel was very convenient for where I needed to be and was only a 20 minute cab ride from the airport, although this was very late at night and I have been told that this can be much longer at peak times. Not the hotels fault but worth bearing in mind. The breakfast was excellent, lots of variety and all good quality, the Churros were particularly nice. Wifi was also good and connected straight away to all my devices, the wifi speed was perfectly adequate for working, and skype calls home. All in all I would definitely stay here again, i think it is excellent value for money.
"Energetic City Break"
We looked to book this due to the distance from the beach and the city centre. Forget the area it is in the commercial centre and looks uninviting but less than 20 minutes walk from the beach, park, city it has its appeal
"2 day stopover after cruise "
Part of package with Iglu Cruise . Not in the best of areas , slightly grubby with some dubious looking clubs/buildings nearby .Short cheap taxi ride into town about 7€( Port , Las Ramblas etc) Inside however is a totally different story . Modern marbled reception open 24hrs with great bar area with snacks till after midnight and lounge with video screen playing music ( VH1) . Restaurant attached on ground floor , can get busy so book . Food excellent such as octopus and olive oil ice cream, spinach soup, langoustine et . Bottle of Merlot €15. Service a bit slow on the night but overwhelmed with guests staying in due to heavy rain but worth waiting for . Friendly helpful staff everywhere . Breakfast is buffet style all you can eat , 15€. Large busy noisy area with large selection of menu. Room excellent value ( not best of views side 3rd floor but quiet ) . Spacious and tasteful decorated with writing table , lovely bathroom with complimentary male/female toiletries . Plenty of lights and mirrors , multi channel tv . Amazing hidden sweeping stair case ( I avoided the lifts just to use it! ) . Air con throughout . Well worth it . Don't forget city tax is payable per night extra ( 1.84€)
Stayed here while attending the IB AEM conference. Had a comfortable stay for the 3 nights I stayed. Nice and clean room. I did miss some coffee making facilities in my room which is always nice. Plenty of breakfast choice
