Stayed here for 6 nights on business. Great facility for large conferences and convenient walking distance to the river walk and Alamo. Attached to a large mall with lots of dining and shopping choices. The lobby and conference areas are modern and impressive. But this is an older hotel and the rooms are in need of renovation. My room was clean and the beds comfortable, but there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. There was also no fridge or microwave in the room. I had to request them at the front desk because someone in my conference mentioned to me that I could do that. The appliances were quickly delivered but the fridge was smaller than the smallest in room fridge I've seen. It kept my drinks cold, so that was all I needed I guess. I also had a room on the other side of the elevators, which I initially thought was very convenient, until I realized I could hear the elevators going up and down rolling by on the other side of the wall all day and night. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again in a different room.
My friend and I stayed at San Antonio Marriott on the Riverwalk so we could be right in tyhe middle of the festivities. It was great to be able to walk out of out hotel and be on the Riverwalk. The hotel was very clean and modern. There was a Starbucks down stairs that we frequented quite often despite its considerable convenience fee upcharge. We were able to walk across the street to Dennys for Breakfast after our checkout, which was a Los very convenient. The price, location, and amenities will make this a staple on my lust of hotels.
"Great Hotel and Friendly Staff"
Just returned from 4 days at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio. Great experience--we were holding a Board meeting for our professional association. We used a Conference Room and a Conference Suite and both were perfect for our needs. Staff routinely checked in with us and were very responsive to any requests. They left their numbers with us so we could call if something came up. My sleeping room was very nice. Location on the Riverwalk is great and you can easily walk to a number of restaurants and a nice shopping mall is connected to the hotel. Overall a great experience and I am excited to be returning in December for the Conference we will host at the hotel. Be sure you are a member of the Marriott's Reward program and you will have free wi-fi.
I love this hotel! we have an annual convention every other year here. The property is in the perfect location, and the staff are the best I've worked with. Top notch, highly recommended. The food is good, try their short braised ribs (pricy, but out of this world good). They have a pasta with ribs in it as well - excellent! One of my favorite hotels.
"Great Location, Average Amenities"
I stayed here last week while attending a conference at the convention center. The location is really great. It connects directly to the river walk and is a short walk to the convention center. It is also connected to the Rivercenter mall and a number of great restaurants with adjoining walls that make finding a quick bite or late night drink easy for everyone - particularly in a large group - options abound! The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. It's huge! There are 12 elevators that split service to the hotel guest room floors and you'll still wait 3+ minutes on average for an elevator. The pool is on the 4th floor and is connected via a window wall to indoor and outdoor sections. There is no hot tub. The pool is nice, but it's a bit small. There are a lot of lounge chairs on the deck to catch some Texas sun. I was unfortunate and the reason for my 3 star review - my room was the room behind the elevator on a lower floor with no view. This was particularly frustrating because I was the first person in my group of 7 to check in and everyone else in my group got great rooms with lovely river walk views. I was going to change rooms, but with the conference next door, I thought they'd all be taken. I should have asked for a different room, but I am really disappointed that the better rooms were not given up first. I could hear those elevators running all night long. I was also supposed to be in a King room, but I was put in a 2 queen room. This made the solo stay feel a little lonelier. Also disappointing was the lack of refrigerator and microwave in the room. The first night I was there, leftovers went to waste because there was no place to store them or reheat them. I will also say that their housekeeping was perhaps too attentive. Housekeeping each morning came in and moved all of my personal belongings, rearranging them how they saw fit. This was sort of frustrating because I am not an unorganized person. I kept my shoes under the sink by the door so I could grab the ones I wanted as I left. I did not want them placed near my suitcase each morning only to have to put them back myself that evening. My last day there, I did not receive housekeeping. Also strange since I had housekeeping every other day...I wasn't disappointed by that though. There were no eco-friendly commodities here either. Each of the 6 towels in the room were replaced daily, even if I only used 1 and re-hung it every night. Then there is the outrageous charge of $13.00/day for WiFi! It took 45 minutes for my phone to charge in the room the first night there for some reason and I went to look for a business center to send an e-mail home that I was out of service until further notice and the business center had a minimum charge of $5.00! This was ridiculous and really felt like penny pinching. I am a Marriott rewards member, but that didn't seem to get me anything with this stay because the rooms had to be booked through the conference and not through Marriott. This hotel is nice, don't avoid it, but there may be better options also.
