"Shaky Start, but Ended Strong!"
I was here for four days attending a conference. Prior to my trip I reached out to the property on Twitter to see if I could be afforded an upgrade since it was a longer stay and because I was a Gold Hilton member. I was informed that I would be upgraded to a luxury suite. Prior to my arrival I reached out to confirm and was told that there was no such guarantee that was made to my reservation. We went back and forth a few times on Twitter, exchanged screenshots of the comments saying I was, etc. It seemed like there really hadn't been any resolution, but I was just going to see what happened from there. On the day of arrival I noticed I had been "upgraded" to a concierge level room, but not a suite. Basically a similarly small room (BTW the regular rooms at this hotel are less than 300 square feet), but on a higher floor with a lounge that I already had access to as a Gold Member. I immediately contacted the property, and again after some back and forth, as well as a phone conversation with front desk manager, Patrick, it seemed as though things were straightened out. Once I arrived from the airport, Patrick personally greeted me, handled my reservation and check-in process, and I was off to my room. And boy oh boy, was it a room! (See pics below) After I was settled into my room the hotel manager had sent up a complimentary order of chips and salsa for me to enjoy. This was a very classy touch and it took care of all the anxiety that there had been from the previous several hours leading up to my arrival. Other than the room pictures and others below, the hotel was in great condition, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel really couldn't be located in a better spot. You are steps away from the Riverwalk, there a MANY restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The restaurants and shops in the hotel are all very well appointed and good as well. This is certainly one of the more conveniently located places I have stayed, which was great because it rained for the last couple of days I was there, and there were plenty of places to eat and shop without having to get drenched! I really felt like a valued customer once I was on the property. It seems like everyone there was going above and beyond to make sure the guests felt welcomed and appreciated, from the front desk staff, to housekeeping, to managerial. There was definitely some consistency across the board which is what I like to see as a frequent traveler. If I find myself in the area again, I will most definitely consider staying at this very same property.
"Very nice place that closed to very thing"
The hotel was very nice but was shocked we had to pay 35 dollars a day to park and also there was no mini fridge in the room. The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful. I like that it was right on the riverwalk and the mall.
"4.5 rating for a very good stay!"
We stayed here for 4 nights while attending a conference at the Convention Center. I'd like to give the hotel a 4.5 rating. All the staff (front desk, restaurant, concierge, housekeeping, shoe shine fellow) were excellent -- very friendly, professional, helpful. And all the food -- for breakfast, for evening conference receptions - was excellent! And we had a nice, bright room with a somewhat modest "city" view. The room was a bit on the small side, but it was super clean. The shower was great - excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water and, like the room generally, exceptionally clean. The reason for a less than 5 rating is (i) the room only had one mirror which was over the sink. So - no full length mirror and no mirror in the main part of the room. This was a bit of challenge with two people getting ready early in the morning for conference sessions. And (ii) the bed was not as comfortable as other Marriott beds I have experienced; this particular mattress felt like it should be replaced. But overall, we had a great stay and would choose the Marriott Rivercenter again if we were visiting San Antonio.
Very convenient to the Riverwalk, restaurants, shopping and the Alamo! The Riverwalk Marriott never disappoints. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the beds are comfortable. Plus, there is a Starbucks in the lobby! Grab a coffee and stroll the Riverwalk in the morning before it gets too crowded.
"Large convention hotel"
Stayed here for a convention. The hotel is fantastically close to the convention center, as well as to the downtown sights. Hotel staff were accommodating and friendly. We opted to not rent a car and ubered from the airport. This ended up being cheaper and more time efficient than parking at the hotel. Great location, and pleasant surroundings.
