"The Perfect Experience"
After reading many reviews regarding this Hotel I must admit I was very skeptical and actually attempted to change my reservation at the last minute. Fortunately for me I was unable to change my reservation and in hindsight I am very happy that I did not. The room was clean, comfortable and convenient. The hotel's restaurants offered a great variety of delicious food options in different price ranges. The staff where patience, and accommodating. The beach was clean and the water was warm. I was a little disappointment when I want to check out and learned that there was a $50 a day credit that I could have used anywhere in the hotel except for the casino and gift shop. This credit even applied to room service! Throughout my 4-day stay I mostly paid with cash or my credit card. I did not bill my services to the room. Therefore I miss this promotional deal which was very frustrating. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back! If you plan to stay at this hotel be sure to ask the front desk staff if there are any promotional deals when you check-in. I also recommend renting a car if you are into activities and excursions. Many of the tours available are overpriced and are accessible on your own.. during our stay we went snorkeling-$50usd, caving-$26usd, visited the rainforest -$4usd for information center, horseback riding on the beach $55usd, and and participated in the bioluminescent kayaking tour-$30usd (definately go with the glass bottom company they really are the best because they gave us a great experience and they make sure you see the glowing organisms). Without paying for transportation with each tour we saved a ton of money and were able to to do more activities then if we would have if we went through the paid tours.
Overall the hotel was good, but not great. We had no problems checking in - no lines. Our room was very nice and it was clean. However the beds were not comfortable and the pillows were horrible! There was nothing to them - as soon as you laid your head down they were flat. We had an ocean view room and had a lovely view of the ocean and the pool. We had meetings during the day and the meeting rooms were very nice. The food was also very good during the meetings. One morning we did eat one breakfast at the buffet which was ok, but not worth the price! Save your money and go to the Starbucks directly across the street. We found the workers to be very pleasant although service was very slow. One afternoon we had a drink out at the pool and the server never came back. We went over to the swim-up bar and there was nobody there either! We did eventually find our server after going over the the regular bar. The pool itself was ok. There was a water slide. I think the pool was very small for the amount of guests. The beach was nice. Plenty of seating. The current was crazy strong! The waves were really big too. There was a storm the day we got there, so maybe that's why. But they did warn us not to go by the rocks because the current would "knock you over and you'd crash your head" The casino was decent. We played the slot machines (or should I say "fed" the slots). We were in there a few nights and just kept losing money. I like it more when you win some and lose some, but it keeps you occupied (knowing that normally you eventually lose lol). One of the girls we were with played Blackjack and did pretty well. Overall the hotel was nice, but not the nicest Marriott I've ever stayed at. It was expensive once they added on the extra charges. I would probably stay here again.
I found Marriott to be over priced, with very average amenities and maybe the worst service ever. There are a lot of hotels in this area of Condado, some with better beaches and I pray better service for the sake of the hotel industry. Had issues with my room, took forever to have someone attend to them, they refused to change me from rooms or offer any comps for my bad experience.
"Do not stay here if you are Platinum member with Marriot"
Stayed here several years back and enjoyed the concierge lounge and other amenities. But stayed this week, perks are only discount parking if you have a car - who rents a car here'' and allow 20% off on breakfast. What a joke, an insult to a Plat Marriott member. The other interesting fact, the area is very dangerous around the hotel. After the sun goes down, all the gates to beach are locked. If you are looking for a nice place to stay in San Juan, keep looking. This place overpriced and under delivers. . .
"Quick girls weekend"
Nice place with a lively atmosphere. Plenty of choices to keep you busy. My only issue was the lack of really good authentic Spanish food. Unfortunately have had this same issue with other hotels I've stayed at in PR. Overall, I would return. We had a great time!
