"Tried hard but could do better...."
We stayed at the Royal Bahamian just after it had reopened following a major refurbishment. Whilst it was clear there had been a lot of work done around the resort - sadly none of it was in our villa! It was very dated and needed a facelift. The decor was drab and dreary. It was just one little thing after another but they all added up taking the edge off what could have been a fantastic holiday. We didn't make too much of a fuss about things - after all we were on holiday and didn't want the hassle. However, we'd paid a lot of money to be there and expected things to be better. We're seasoned travellers to the Caribbean and embrace the laid back approach to everything but we got the feeling whenever we mentioned a problem that the staff actually weren't that bothered and on a couple of occassions it did take having to make a fuss to get things done. A lot of the staff were new to the resort following the refurbishment and service in some of the restaurants was disorganised and slow but I'm sure with time they have improved. We spent the majority of our time at the pool at the far edge of the resort in the village area. It is the ony heated pool in the resort - the main pools were freezing! It was our little secret - not many people realised it was there :-) I don't want to harp on about the negatives because overall we did have a great time. The food was great in all of the restaurants and we particularly liked the Baccarat for breakfast and evening meals. We never had to queue to eat in any of the restaurants. One thing I hadn't known about Nassau is that it is breezy. It did get a bit chilly in the evenings so would recommend you take a shrug/shawl to wrap up in. The good news though is that the breeze kept the mosquitos away! After all the issues we had had - on day 10 of a 12 day stay they did offer to move us to another villa. We declined. A bit late for that don't you think'' Shame they didn't do that before...
Excellent. Great food, location, drinks... everything! A special shout out to Reggie and company at the pool bar. They stayed on top of everything. The entire staff is helpful and energetic. Our second trip to a Sandals property. There will be many more. Have already booked Antigua and St. Lucia.
This place has everything you need and want in an all inclusive. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, and nightly entertainment. They offer games by the pool but are not intrusive when trying to drum up participants. The piano bar sing along is a must as is the one man band by the fire pits. The food is very good and they offer a nice variety. We had a butler so we were able to enjoy every restaurant by having reservations. The best restaurant by far is Schooners on the island. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the lack of housekeeping. Our suite was cleaned each day but the mold and mildew in the grout of the shower was way over due for a cleaning. The furniture needed a thorough cleaning as there were stains on the upholstery and the outside patio furniture was filthy. The furniture was quite old and had seen it's better days. The pool is not heated so we were not able to really get in and enjoy it until the last day of our 7 day trip. I highly suggest getting a butler, it is worth the extra money. This was our 3rd Sandals vacation (White House, Antigua) so we were able to compare the properties. This was nice because of the distance from airport is only 25 min. Definitely worth a visit.
The staff and service were outstanding, they were friendly, helpful and polite. The food was very nice and the ground beautifully kept. Our room was nice, but not super clean. We left a note asking for it to be vacuumed and it was taken care of. We were on the second floor of a villa and it was very nice and quiet. It was extremely difficult to leave this paradise!
Between Hattie and Elvis best service by the beach I have ever had at a resort! The dinner at Gordon's with 5 star service from L'toro our waiter! The sandals island is awesome- bring towels as they run out on the island
