"They call him Elvis marlin alonzo"
All around I had a wonderful trip but it was honestly the staff that made my stay amazing. Especially the bartender Elvis who was properly named as he is the king of all the bartenders in my opinion. While all the staff were very welcoming and friendly Alonzo introduced us to the resort and helped with any and all questions or issues we had come up; he really made an excellent first impression for Sandals. Back to Elvis though he was amazing at his craft and very genuine along with his impressive knowledge of alcohol he guided me into an amazing rum progressing through the ages and things to notice in these different ages of rum. Finally I have to give a big shout out to Marlin he is an amazing waiter at the pub open late his patience and ability to take your preferences and lead you to amazing late night dishes was very impressive. While all of the Sandals staff made amazing impressions these three gentlemen really made my first stay at Sandals an experience that I can not forget. Thank you again Alonzo, Elvis and Marlin along with the rest of the Sandals resort staff I can guarantee I will be a return visitor. Also especially to Elvis I am sorry it took so long to give the reviews I promised unfortunately life got very busy and I wish you all the best. Stephen Bost
We came with a great group of friends with South Sea Travel to celebrate the vow renewal of my daughter and her husband who honeymooned here 9 years before. While there my son proposed to his girlfriend of 10 years. I also took the time to take a dive trip. The crew from the dive show were Damien, Nelson, Ramon, Sam, Sonny, Wenzel, Brian and Antoinique. I had some issues while on the trip and decided to sit it out and they were very accommodating. The last day of the vacation they let me try different gear and I swan around in their training pool for 20 - 30 minutes without any trouble. I will definitely be back to dive with them the next time we visit this particular resort.
"Not quite as expected"
Where to start, in the beginning as was once said, would be as good a place as any I suppose. Unfortunately our good Lord did not create this place latterly , although the description was rather heavenly from the BA details, that is why we initially booked the Sandals Royal Bahamian. To be perfectly honest (which is the point of the tripadvisor review) we along with every other couple we met (when the subject was brought up) all felt slightly disappointed with the SRB. People were almost embarrassed to say, but they felt they had travelled an awful long way, and not got what they bargained for. Don't get me wrong, it was not awful, in fact it grew on one, but it was not quite right. We got off on the wrong foot by being put in a room, which my dear wife likened to "Butlins" slightly harsh I thought, but never having been there I will have to give her the benefit of the doubt, it was not nice I'll say no more. The next morning it poured with rain, (not the SRB's fault) everything looks awful in the rain so what, the sun duly came out in the afternoon, all was good. We had a room change from the Royal Village to the Balmoral Tower, sooooo much better, so why did they put us in a nasty room to start with, I know why from experience, Hotels always seem to see if you will put up with rubbish until you complain, the people who don't sadly get left in the roughest accommodation. This is not right, I don't mind telling people, some less minded people would have to suffer in silence, so I am saying this for those unfortunate people who deserve better. Anyway, moving on, I'm sure that you will have read, the pools are too cold , as is the Spices restaurant (its freezing in here I told one waiter, the air con its on a timer Sir, yes jolly good, well turn the B thing off, but no it stayed freezing the several nights we ate there, still our choice, there were no shortages of restaurants). Bacarats for breakfast is delightful, the service sadly not so. If you want to eat within an hour, you will not want to eat here. I appreciate we are in the Caribbean here and things are slower, but there is slow, and then there is SRB slow. Japanese good, Italian with a star called Paula from Portugal excellent, Gordons on the Pier, so so, Cricketers again slower than you would believe possible. Pizza station good, Island restaurant good. Food generally ok but not great to be honest, loads of it but less and better quality would have been better. Anyway if you are a glutton, you'll love it regardless. Even better if you are some sort of person who wants to drink all day, and night long, you'll like it even more. Not my thing I'm afraid. All I wanted was to take my wife to a Robinson Crusoe type of location, such as Le Touessrok in Mauritius which was heavenly and so much better than the SRB in every way, sorry SRB, but you have a long way to go to get in that league. What I wound up with was a load of loud mouthed Americans who drank far too much for the best part, ridiculously loud entertainment, which was poor to say the least, and weddings by the score, it was so impersonal I felt sorry for the participants (congratulations to you all by the way). Room service was very bad too, from no towels when requested to the room being made up on two occasions after 4.00pm, too late by far (did you request an early service) no I just expected to return to my room in the late afternoon and find it done, is that unreasonable. Listening to other people at reception I was not alone. Not sure where the huge amount of money was recently spent here, certainly not on the carpet leading to our room, it was manky and smelt (not as bad though as the carpet in our first room so we were lucky). In the end you tend to put up with little things or it would get to you and ruin your holiday, which I refused to let it do. There is no shortage of staff, but a lot are next to useless I'm afraid, they seem to know how to say how are you doing and awesome, both dreadful Americanisms, oh yes and I apologise, but I do not honestly believe that they understand the Queens English, which is funny for a country that was part of the BE for many years, as the taxi driver Morris pointed out, we were still trying to plunder his country, sad old git. It made me wonder if they understood full well, and were just intent on being awkward which is very sad. I cannot be held responsible for what my ancestors may or may not have done. I must confess that the whole Butler thing made me feel very uneasy, and I would not personally have enjoyed that scenario. I understand where the Balmoral, Windsor, Edward the VIII thing comes from, but the butler thing just looks and feels all wrong, and no I was not dragged up in local authority housing either. I am very proud to be English, and love our heritage and way of life generally, but the past is the past, move on Mr. Morris and company. On the plus side, you have a lovely group of islands in the Bahamas. You have beautiful beaches and I'm sure that most of the Bahamian people are truly wonderful. As I say, the hotel grows on you, or wears you down, not sure which. But if you fancy a noisy, drunken, Henry the VIII banqueting type of holiday, with loud games a freezing pool this will suit you, and I wish you well, not twice for me though sadly, I will pass and move on. Please note some staff were lovely, Toni from Barbados, the boat to the Island Captain, Paula, the staff at The Spa to name but a few. It was not all bad, as "Len" would say, but it could have been better, a lot better. I suppose I may have been spoilt, maybe thats why I don't go all inclusive usually, maybe this is good for this type of holiday. Put me in The Spice Island Beach resort Grenada, or Le Touessrok anyday. Sorry, but honesty is the best policy. I hope some other reviews reflect my humble opinion to save disappointment, after all its a long way to go, unless you are from the USA or Canada of course. I suppose knowing about the Zika Virus, followed by Industrial action with the unions on the island and lastly Hurricane Matthew, I should have known better. I did try and postpone my holiday but BA were having none of it, thanks BA, people have long memories. I am not just a miserable old sod, I like to congratulate people when they do a good job, but I will also say if they fall short, which they did.
"Fantastic honeymoon destination"
Myself and my husband have just got back from the most amazing time at this hotel. If you have read any negative reviews about this hotel then they must be mistaken as we had the best time ever from when we arrived to leaving for the airport. This is totally a five star hotel. We booked a honeymoon suite overlooking the ocean and we were not disappointed as it was fab. The food was lovely, plenty of choice and we ate a different restaurant every night. We still cant decide which was our favourite as each restaurant was lovely. I recommend going over to Stew fish on the island at night to eat. The breakfast was excellent, omelettes were cooked fresh to order. Piano bar was our favourite as Sherman the barman was very welcoming and enjoyed having conversations with us. He even remembered what drinks we had the previous time! great service. They have great water activities like paddle boarding. kayaks, water bikes etc. They have tennis, shuffle board & boules which we enjoyed. They are all inclusive. The beach is white sand with a turquoise sea, perfect! They have a quiet pool & a busy pool which if you like something going on then this is for you. The entertainment staff were brill. If you wanted to venture out then we took a trip to the town of Nassau which is only 15 minutes away on the number 10 bus which only costs $1.25 Bargain! All in all we cant wait to go back, we don't normally visit the same destination twice but we will definitely on this occasion. Thank you once again to all the staff. If you want the perfect honeymoon or just a great holiday then The Royal Bahamian is for you.
"Best Trip Ever"
This was our first all inclusive and our first visit to a Sandals Resort. Initially, I thought it was expensive but for all the food, drinks, activities, and entertainment at a first rate resort, I feel it was money well spent. Great place to go for an adult only vacation - no kids to interfere with your relaxation and dining. Stayed in the Windsor. The room was spacious and clean. We didn't have the best view but we were never in the room so it didn't matter. Food and drinks were spectacular. All the restaurants had great food and service. Only restaurant that required a reservation was Kimonos - reserve a time as soon as you arrive. The staff was the best part of the entire trip. They were always accommodating, fun, and greeted you with a friendly smile. Shout out to Hughvon in the Baccarat restaurant. Thanks Sandals...We will definitely return and/or try another Sandals vacation.
