"Not every luxury is included"
The grounds, accommodation, food and service are excellent. The beach is well maintained and has enough chairs, but the sea is full of seaweed sometimes hiding inside sea urchins (I was "lucky" to step on one of them a year before – a very painful experience – and had needles in my foot for a few weeks). Unfortunately, there were much less smiles and greetings from the staff compared to our previous vacations at this resort, but we could live with this. Our main complaint is against the resort management: we spend much of our past time playing pool, but the condition of the pool tables is terrible. First, it used to be 4 tables, but now, after their relocation, only 3 left. All tables are unlevelled and with uneven surface covered with a worn out fabric. The holes are "through holes" and if you are lucky to send a ball into one of them, it goes straight to the floor. The table location is wide open and the sun is in your eyes most of the day. Most sticks are crooked and some are without a tip. No talk for hands is provided (it is really needed in the Caribbean climate). Only 2 chalk remnants for sticks are provided. Over the last few years, we complained several times to the management both orally and in writing, but our complaints were ignored. The resort has spent, probably, millions in the latest renovations, but could not find a few thousands for pool tables of at least the lowest bar quality. We have talked to quite a few vacationers that tried to play pool there, but left either angry or laughing at these so called "pool tables". So, if you don't play pool White House (now "South Coast Jamaica") is an excellent resort (except the sea condition), but if you are planning to spend some time playing pool, this resort is not for you. We gave it 4 stars as a compromise between 4.5 star rating for those who don't care about pool and 3 star rating for those who want to have the "luxury" of playing some pool in their spare time between the food and the beach.
"First time at south coast"
First time at sandals south coast formerly White House! Beautiful property with lots of space to walk both beachfront and garden! Food has been good with lots of diversity. Lots of activities to do and the new latitudes bar is phenomenal with the hammocks around the perimeter. Would love to come back again.
"Sandals south coast"
Very relaxing and beautiful place to visit The staff are all incredibly talented and do everything in their power to make your stay as pleasant as possible I can't wait to go back for a third visit PS the Rum is not bad either
"Beautiful Beach, Great Service"
We spent 9 fabulous nights at this resort and had a fantastic time. The beach to the right of the French Section of the resort is so beautiful and quiet. We walked it twice a day. We saw sea urchins, conch in their shells, and sting rays. Other guests also saw some turtles. The food in the restaurants is very good, a lot of variety. We were served by Logan at Elanor's and he was very freindly and efficient. Davia at Neptunes was also very friendly and helpful. She saw my husband had hurt his foot and offered to get him so ice. Great service! Carona was our server in the buffet restaurant at breakfast. I would go in and ask for my beverage and mayonaise and by the time I had come back with my food everything that I had requested would be their. She always asked about our previous day and how we enjoyed our supper the night before and even remembered when it was our last breakfast and wished us a safe trip home. She made us feel like she actually cared about our trip being enjoyable. She hopes that we will come back to Sandals South Caost again. Our room was very modern with a separate bath and shower. We were on the 4th floor of the Italian Building and had a gorgeous view of the sunrise. The new bar on the ocean "Latitudes" is amazing. Hammocks all around to relax on and the waiteres really put on a show balancing drinks and bottles on their forheads. I love the fact that the majority of the staff members now where buttons explaining their no tipping Policy. I hate going to a Sandals, believing that tipping is not expected and then seeing guest slipping tips in wait staffs pockets. I did not see that happen here on this trip. My only complaint about this trip is the food in the buffet was never hot. They need to go around with temperature testers and change the food or fix the temperature and their holding trays. In the morning if I took a pancakde or a waffle, I would pass it through the toaster a couple of times before eating it to warm it up. Thank God for all of the A la Carte restaurants where the food is not only delicious, but served nice and hot!!
"A wonderful week!!!"
Spent a wonderful week at South Coast for a romantic getaway. As others have mentioned, Devon at Eleanor's is incredible. Had one of the most wonderful evening's outside on the patio thanks to his doing. Danced in between servings to wonderful live music. The food is wonderful and all the staff are amazing. The jerk shack is great for lunch and the bartender's at the main pool were wonderful, friendly and always aiming to please. Troy made all around him laugh. Also enjoyed 2 couples massages, Sandra and the rest of the staff at the spas made the moment relaxing! Looking forward to when we can return! Only downside was the lack of communication regarding our departure by the staff with club sandals, easily overlooked when considering the rest of the stay.
