"Hidden Paradise of Koh Phangan"
Stayed at this property between 12th March to 14th March, arrived early by speed boat from Koh Samui..... my room was not ready, the front office staff were kind enough to let me have my shower in their spa and relaxed myself at their ocean facing restaurant. The room was Sea Facing Pool Room Plus, it was a wonderful room. They arranged my requests for full moon party at Haad Rin Beach which was amazing. Their spa is so good and please try Thai Oil massage. They have a private beach which gives us privacy to relax in the sea and take a dip in their amazing pool. Awesome food at their restaurant is what I would say, please try their Thai Buffet on Sunday night. Please see their voucher or offer signs near the reception where you pay 8,500THB & get 10,000THB vouchers or pay 16,000 THB and use services for 20,000 THB which is very good and havent found such deals at other places where I have stayed. Room 606 was spacious, clean with separate living and bedroom. The bathroom was so good with a open shower and natural rocks part of the design which I liked the most. Kindly keep the doors and windows closed always as there are chances of incests coming inside. Kindly as for comb or ear buds if needed as they dont keep in as the part of room amenities. Please wake up at 6am to view the sunrise from this room, its an experiece of lifetime. Hats off to the team Santhiya for such a wonderful Hospitality.
"Highlight of our trip to Thailand"
My husband and I stayed at in an ocean view, private pool suite at Santhiya and it was unlike anything we've ever experienced. The hotel decor is incredible, the furnishings and decorations are like something from a movie. It was so serene and beautiful. The buffet breakfast was amazing, great selection of cooked and fresh foods. The main pool is spectacular with many waterfalls and areas to laze about in while looking out on to the beach. The restaurant lunch and dinners were great, a little more expensive then what you usually pay in Thailand but worth it for the quality and atmosphere. The staff were wonderful, hopefully one day we will be able to return! Until then we fondly remember it as our highlight of any overseas trip so far.
"Very unique and memorable property"
I reserved this place due to the pictures and high ratings. It just looked so unique with all wood carvings. The property and buildings are stunning and look even better in person. The place oozes Thai charm. So much to the extent that I feel like someone hired Disney to build a luxury resort that was Thai themed. I can't tell if it's actually authentic luxury Thai, or they just went overboard thinking foreigners would find it charming. I'm most skeptical of the fact that they announce your arrival with a gong, and you have a papyrus lookalike welcome letter scroll in your room. In any case it does not change my recommendation since the property was just so cool and memorable. Do not forget to just wander the hill, there's just so many scenic details and features that are cool to see. I was upgraded on arrival to the "Rock Room". Apparently there is only one though I could not see it when booking. This room's coolness factor was on par with the rest of the property. The room is huge and is 1.5ish stories. Scattered individual stairs take up most of the room as you make your way down to the bed. There are enormous boulders that also take up a significant chunk (hence rock room) . I like to think that the construction crew was reporting to management that it was going to cost a fortune to remove these rocks. Then someone said how about we just leave the boulders in the room and charge extra :). One low-point is that most of the view of the beach was blocked by overgrown brush just in front of my balcony. If these had been trimmed the view would have be similar to the one on the website. Looking around the property it seems most rooms will have significantly obstructed views. If the beach view is important to you I would be aware. The beach in front of the hotel is very rocky- nobody really swims or lays out on it (nor are there lounges. To get to an actual beach you need to take a path over a few rocks. Continue walking ~5-10 minutes on the beach and you will reach the village. Here you will find cheap restaurants, convenience stores , & laundry. People complained that the restaurant on site is expensive but I thought it was relatively reasonable. I only ate in the village, but the decent looking dinner buffets were about $24 including tip/service. Naturally this is far more expensive than a shack in the village, but for a hotel it's not that bad. Instead of booking the hotel's 1200 baht transfer, I took a songthaew on arrival at the pier. This was 600 baht for two people (though shared with others). It took about an hour to reach the hotel, but I didn't mind seeing a bit more of the island. We left using the speedboat service. I appreciate that this was also reasonable at $28 PP. In "good" weather the boat leaves directly in front of the hotel. In "bad" weather you must leave 30 minutes earlier and take a mini-bus transfer to an actual pier 30-45 minutes away. Keep in mind when they say "bad" weather they really just mean if the waves are too rough. It can be a sunny gentle-breeze day and you may still have to take the transfer. (that's what happened with us). I did wish they would provide complimentary water at the pool- but they do not. My other resort in Ko Samui did not either so it may just be a Thailand thing. My last complaint is that the towels are small and remind me of dish drying towels. You also had to sign them in and out.
We stayed at the Santhiya Resort & Spa between March 4th-10th 2017. We enjoyed our stay immensely, unfortunately the sea was too rough for us to arrive direct into the resort by speed boat. and had to travel by speedboat to a different landing stage and then travel overland, (although we did manage to leave direct from the hotel). The staff were always pleasant and courteous, and ready to help in any way. We stayed in room 422,which was large and had a great balcony and sea view. The buggies taking you around the resort were always plentiful, and we never had to wait for one. The pool area is great sat right on the beach, and cascading waterfalls into the pool are really impressive. Unfortunatley the draw backs we found were that on two occasions the hot water ran out before we had both had time to take a shower ( not what you would expect to find in a resort of this standard). Also the cost of food and drink in the hotel/ bar were on the expensive side, which drove most people to scramble over the the rocks to next door beach, where there were several beach resuarants, and a small local village with few shops and retuarants. Decor in some areas becoming a little jaded, but all in all we had a great time there, and would recommened it to anyone. Perhaps more evening entertainment would be good.
"Massage and breakfast "
Really good breakfast buffet and a relaxing massage at the beach. :) to be recommended! Service was fantastic and it is easy to chill out in the library with a cozy atmosphere. View is just beautiful!!!
