"Mixed feelings ..."
My husband & I visited Santhiya as part of our multi stop honeymoon. We visited on a recommendation from my parents & also my cousin. We have mixed feelings about the resort/service having stayed at the sister resort in Koh Yao Yai. The resort is vastly overpriced in comparison to the rest of Thailand. The prices are verging on European city prices. For example the price of a Heineken in the hotel is 150 baht, it is 80 baht a short stroll from resort. A short walk over the rocks/beach takes you to a nearby village & the Jip Shop/Luna Lounge are incredible for dinner. The village also has a local supermarket/pharmacy/ATM. The staff at the hotel car rank (you have to get a car to your room as the hotel is built on a steep incline) can at times be a little unfriendly & appear to be inconvenienced when you ask them to do their job, despite waiting patiently for them to do so. We had a pool villa, the room was wonderful, the attention to detail is incredible & obviously created by a very passionate carpenter. The downfall however is the outdoor bathroom, in rainy season taking a shower is an inconvenience as the shower is completely exposed. The bathroom also opens you up to mosquito bites & ant infestations once the rain has passed. The outside bathtub is located next to the pool. This was unfortunately dirty due to the rainy season & therefore unusable. The pool is perfectly secluded but very shaded so do not expect much sun. I had an amazing complimentary massage in the spa, I would recommend that you take this offer up as the service is great & the setting relaxed. The hotel is very clean, the views are amazing & the food is incredible. Koh Yao Yai wins the award for us.
"OMG! Perfect "
I have never been in a place like this before. Everything is perfect. When you arrive you have all the he staff and structure to make the reception. They give a fresh juice and a refreshing towel and the check in is really quickly. The access to the rooms is by transfer. You have the privacy you deserve if you contract some private room. I didn't. Just could pay for the cheapest room and no regrets. It's perfect. The room is huge. It's decorated with Thai ornaments. Different than everything. It smells good, the air conditioning is full operating when get in. It's clean and beautiful. Every room have a great view of the beach or one of the pools. It's really breath-taking. If I can say some little aspects to correct, they forget to replace our towels (took the old and put no other), the room is quite dark at the night and the room maid crowd were quite noisy early in the morning of my last day (radio and speaking in front of my room at 8AM - don't judge, it's early for me lol). Wish I have some more days to spend at this place. Instead the airplane trip takes like 30 hours, I wish to visit it again next year. If you are coming to Ko Phangan, you must stay at this resort. Its a must see.
"Awesome Resort + Service, Poor WiFi, Thin Walls"
My partner and I had a great time staying here and I would have given this resort 5 stars but the WiFi in the supreme deluxe rooms was non existent and barely 1 bar so I could not connect. Also the walls are like rice paper, there was an obnoxious man in the room next door and we could hear every word he spoke (loud voice). Bad points aside we took the private speed boat from Koh Samui to the resort (900 baht each) and this takes you directly to the hotel. I recommend you do this as a taxi from the pier will cost you 800-1000 baht anyway. We booked a supreme deluxe room which was on the top floor overlooking the swimming pool at the top of the hill. You had to get the van to take you up and down each time but we found walking only took 5 minutes. Buffet breakfast was great, we trekked over to the beach and the small village near the hotel to eat each night as it was much cheaper than the hotel. Luna lounge was definitely a highlight of our trip. We went to the night market on Saturday night, the hotel offers a shuttle bus there for 300 baht each at 3pm. It's a shame this shuttle doesn't go later at say 5pm when the night market is in full swing. The return shuttle was at 6.15pm so we stayed later and ended up paying a taxi 1000 baht to get back to the resort. The resort is about as far away from the night market as anywhere on the island. We didn't use the spa facilities as it was 1000's of baht cheaper to walk to the little village across the beach and go to massage there instead.
"Best stay in Thailand"
This is a beautiful property at a wonderful location, a little remote so a perfect hideaway. Everything about this place is royal. The staff is simply amazing. They don't ever say no for an answer. My boyfriend was a little sick when we went there and they took such good care of us that we can't thank them enough. The food and view from the restaurant is great! You will never regret going to this Hotel. A perfect place for couples :)
Wonderful stay at the Santhiya at the beginning of November, 2016. I stayed there with my boyfriend for 4 nights in a Hideaway pavilion which was amazing with a view over the bay, a nice interior decoration, an outside bathroom and a large private swimming pool. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We went to the spa to have a massage and we enjoyed the magnificent view from there. The last but not the least, the buffet breakfast was sumptuous with a large choice of delicious food in a pleasant environment. In order to go to the hotel we strongly recommend to take their speedboat shuttle service which is simple, efficient and surprisingly cheap.
