We stayed for 3 nights arriving on 01.12.16. The first thing that hit us as we walked through to reception was an unbearable smell of cigar smoke and this was due to the fact that there was a smokers lounge next to reception! The smell was throughout the hotel and was not nice considering the smell stuck to your clothes. The bedroom was ok, the pillows were not that good and asked for another set. the room had no tea and coffee making facility which was a bit odd and the shower was so small you could not swing a cat in it. if you moved about in the shower you often hit the on off tap which would send the water freezing cold or boiling hot. staff here are very good and very helpful and breakfast was great especially with bucks fizz in the morning. the hotel is very close to restaurants and the local Christmas market and close to where the hop on hop off tour guide busses are. problem if you have a room facing the front of the hotel is that you will hear car noise, tram noise and people often shouting at all times of day and night. would return but they need to sort the smoking situation out and next time we will ask for a quiet room.
"Ouch! Stubbed my toe again"
Really excellent location hotel just off a main road. Very engaging reception staff A comfortable room, maybe a bit small, maybe a bit over heated but fine. Good bed though i wasn't a fan of the empty pillows. Of course it's clean. I loved the touch of having neat coat hooks inside the door Didn't eat in the restaurant as the breakfast buffet looked a bit expensive to me. I prefered a very nice independent cafe just down the road. I did however stub my toe in the room. There was a funny little carpet strip step in the room on the way to the bathroom and I stubbed my toe ...twice. In the public areas there are a number of these strips at edges of carpet & fire doors though dear reader you will be pleased to know there were no more trips! Overall a really nice friendly hotel. It calls itself 5 *. Nothing wrong with that (I didn't look at the spa for instance) & I am not fully informed but I would have said 4*. I was very happy against the price though so I felt it easily 5* value
"Close to amenities, very central"
We stayed here for 3 nights in October. It was very cold outside but we found the hotel to be very warm and cosy. It was even a bit too warm on some occasions. The breakfast provided was a great selection of both continental and cooked. The location of the hotel is close to a number of UBahn stations.
"Great authentic hotel"
Staff were extremely helpful, breakfast is a great spread. Would recommend! I would say that the cigar bar that forms part of the hotel is a definite added benefit as we could meet friends and clients there after a days work
"Good location, old school hotel."
Stayed at The Savoy in Berlin for a few nights whilst in town on business. The hotel can best be described as a typical old school hotel with a lobby clad in wood paneling, leather furnishings and red carpet. To the left of the reception you can find a cozy little Cigar Bar and to the opposite side, you will find the hotel Restaurant. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly and made every attempt to help us feel welcome. My only criticism was that our rooms were only available for check in around 3pm, despite us arriving at the hotel around 11am due to early flights. The rooms are a bit old in their furnishing however are well equipped. I found the beds to be too soft, but that could just be personal preference. The hotel is ideally situated close to various tourist points of interests, shopping districts and great restaurants. For the price, this is a good hotel and offers good value, without the thrills.
