"Scandic Palace & Copenhagen"
We booked the hotel based on reviews and location and we were not disappointed. Flew in from the UK on Ryanair who had the worst cabin crew I have ever seen on duty. Totally bored with what they were doing and wandering up the aisle mumbling when supposed to be offering customer service. Anyway enough of them. Landing and luggage collection was fine and we took the metro from the airport to Norreport in the city centre. You can buy tickets in the airport near the luggage collection areas. Really easy to use. Follow the signs and head up to the metro where your journey will take no more than 15 minutes. Its then about a 10 minute walk through busy streets to the hotel. Probably easier and cheaper to get a train from the airport to the main station which is closer to the hotel and easier to get to. The hotel stand on the town hall square and is an imposing building. There is a lot od construction work happening in Copenhagen but dont be put off by this. Check in was very easy and handled well. Our room on the 2nd floor was a superior plus and was very spacious, our friends booked a standard room and that was tiny in comparison. Even though we looked out over the square the "bells" were not an issue. The balcony is small - more a juliet balcony in reality. The bed was huge and comfortable but the duvet was a tad smaller than the bed so that made for some duvet tug of war! We had a separate bathroom and a huge shower room as well as a walk in area that doubled as wardrobe and a place to store luggage. Breakfast is excellent plenty of choice (hot and cold) and we were never rushed or felt that we had to get down early to get a seat. All staff were polite, smart and friendly. We had left our travel plug but reception provided one for us. I have been in some hotels where rather than lend you one the policy is to sell you one for a high price, so this was a nice touch. Location wise I dont think you can beat this as it is central for everything. We ate out most nights but had a few beverages in the bar. We walked everywhere in the city so didnt buy a Copenhagen card. We did visit Rosenborg, Amelienborg and Christiansborg as well as taking a trip on the train to Helsingor to see Kronborg Castle which was the inspiration for Hamlets castle. The train ticket cost 130DKK and gave 24 hours travel on bus, train and metro. Eatng out was relatively expensive and I wouldnt say we had any stand our meals, good but nothing extraordinary. I'd recommend the hotel and suggest you upgrade to a superior plus for a view over the square.
You couldn't ask for a better location , across from Tivoli and a block from Stroget. A short walk really. The hotel is ran on minimal staff which is fine if you are an independent and able travelled. I couldn't see a bell desk or anyone to help with your luggages . Usually there is only one staff at reception. The shower is weak n the temperature uncontrollable. However the location makes up for the shortfall. The room I was in was a little tired but being in Copenhagen , the price was reasonable.
"Great location, comfortable room"
The location of the Scandic Palace is wonderful - right in the city center. The room is beautiful, much larger than most European hotel rooms. The breakfast was very good with many choices from bacon and eggs to yogurt or sweet rolls. There is a nice bar off the lobby that is a nice spot to stop later in the evening for a drink.
"Terrific location but chilly room"
This hotel is located near Tivoli and is excellent for walking the city. However, it was packed the weekend we went and the breakfast room had to overflow into the bar, which meant walking across the main entrance with our breakfasts. The room was spotlessly clean and would have been very comfortable if it had been warm. There was no heat in the bathroom and we were cold in bed. Our tips would be go midweek if you can and wait till the weather is warmer.
"Average...good location, comfortable bed, but tired/worn property"
The hotel was average - the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and I got a good night's sleep. However, it seems that the property is a bit worn/tired...and needs updating. Another positive: well located.
