"Poor beyond words!"
Have stayed in this hotel a number of times and have seen it deteriorate over recent years. The hotel food is poor and the rooms are dirty and worn. Staff appear to be poorly trained except for the front of house staff. Time for this hotel to be replaced.
"A Tired Old Friend -- Good Value, Well Located, Great Restaurants and Bar"
I will always be nostalgic for this property since this was the first hotel (in its original incarnation) I stayed in when I first arrived to live and work in China back in 1998. I later helped lead the A Share IPO for the parent company, so we have a lot of history. Over the intervening years living in China until I moved back in early 2016, I found Aria, their signature restaurant, one of the most consistently excellent western restaurants in Beijing. Plus Aria has a great bar, As I lived in Beijing, I had not stayed at the hotel in fifteen years until a recent business trip took me again to Beijing. I stayed twice, first in an upper and pricier room as the guest of a client, which had been renovated at least once from the original 1997 decor. That first room was fine, no nore than staisfactory and not on a par with most Shangri-La properties, which I frequented in Chinese cities other than Shanghai. Perhaps this is to force people into the new Tower property. I returned later in the week, paying my own bill, strictly as a value proposition in a lower floor room. Suffice that it was not clear whether that room had ever been renovated from my 1998 days -- pretty mediocre by current standards for a property of this headline quality. However, I would stay there agioan as the location remains fantastic, the restaurants - Chinese and western are excellent, it has a great bar and a top fitness center, both critical for me, and even the low-end rooms are serviceable.
Very kitsch decoration. (e. g. Christmas decoration already early November.) Below average service: nobody to take your luggages from the taxi when you arrive, long waiting time at check-in & checkout, at breakfast they offered me a sit facing a wall (there were many other options) To me, definitely not up to the 5 stars of tripadvisor. But it seems this hotel is very much appreciated by first-time tripadvisor users... One can still sleep there and the facilities are ok, but there are definitely much better options in beijing for this price. I was so disappointed that I checked out after one night. As you can imagine they did not even bother to ask why I was checking out after one night although I had booked one week...
"Model of hospitality"
I had a really enjoyable time in China world hotel. The hotel is located closed to everything u need!! The room was very clean and they did a great job to maintaining the quality of the room .The public areas were top of the line and made my stay very relaxing . The breakfast was delicious ,there was a mix of different breads, eggs in different styles, pancake, fruit and also Chinese options. A special thanks to Ray Xu ,the bartender at the Aria bar, whose English was pretty good ,he help me with a smile every time and answered all my questions, and the cocktail he made was just the best one I've had!!!Friendly and knowledgeable bar staff also make this a must to visit !!
"Great Hotel Excellent Service"
This hotel is the best in Beijing. The hotel itself is beautiful. What makes China World fantastic is the service, especially from the staff of the Horizon Club Lounge. During this trip I was taken care of by Nancy, Cathy, Bluce, Taylor, Carrie and Joy just to name a few. These folks are wonderful, caring people, making China World the best place to stay in Beijing. Thank you all.
