"A maximum 4 star, and VERY NOISY as half wing is under construction"
Not the usual Shangri-la you'd get in the rest of the world, below standard. This hotel is old, rooms are rather small, and some of them stink of mould, facilities are old and that is why the owner decided to renovate the hotel. But the thing is, old building doesn't have good sound proof system, therefore you can imagine how noisy it is if half if the building is under construction starting from 8 or 9 and continue till 6 or 7. It is really annoying. And don't get confused with the high price! because it is under construction, only half of the rooms are available, that is why the price is up due to lack of supply. It is not because it is super popular! Nevertheless the breakfast, sunday brunch and dinner buffet are superb, the bar and Chinese restaurant are excellent!
"Wonderful Hotel/Terrific Restaurant/Important Tips"
Highly recommend everything about this hotel! It's clean, very helpful and friendly staff, great location, and best of all, it has a FANTASTIC restaurant with an extensive fabulous breakfast and sensational dinners! Rooms/beds are very comfortable. Bathroom has all amenities including a clock and scale and magnified make-up mirror. Shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. We stayed 4 nights- 3 in a standard double room, left to stay overnight in Varanasi, and came back for 1 more night. For this night, we were upgraded to a newly refurbished deluxe room. Although the newly refurbished room was beautifully done with cove lighting and rain shower, we preferred the shower in our other room's bathroom. Important tips when booking: *Make sure to ask for and get a room that is NOT on the side of the building that has outdoor parties/weddings. We heard the music until 12:30 AM on the one night that we stayed on a high floor on that side. The other nights we stayed on the other side of the corridor and didn't hear a sound, even though there was another party and DJ music. *Ask about the upgrade for a very nominal fee that allows access to the Heritage part of the dining room. Between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM you will be treated to a variety of hors-d'oeuvres, hot and cold chafing dishes, sushi, soup, breads, crackers and cheese, dessert and a nice variety of wines. If appetizers are your thing (or if this sounds like enough for dinner) add this bonus to your room. About the restaurant, TAMRA: Absolutely great!! Huge variety on buffet set up all around the room, both Indian, Asian ,and continental. Or, one can order a la carte from the extensive menu. Dessert bar also had everything from home made ice cream to homemade taramisu- all the desserts and breads, homemade Currently this restaurant ranks #2 on Trip Advisor for best restaurants in Delhi. We ate there every night after 4 long exhausting days touring the area. We also loved the ambiance and view from the floor to ceiling windows and so happy that the restaurant was so conveniently in this hotel.
"Amazing restaurant and beautiful hotel"
This hotel had some incredible food, especially Tamra restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The hotel itself is lovely, well located and every staff member is so welcoming and helpful. It also has one of the best hotel gyms I have been too and a lovely pool area. My room was the only slightly average part for the price paid, not very well insulated from other rooms and my TV didn't work. However apart from minor things, I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Delhi.
"My third and not final visit"
Stayed for 9 nights over a month long trip in India. My Indiavisit Sumit recommends as one can walk to nearby shopping with ease whereas equivalent hotels do not have anything close by to walk to. Although the hotel is renovating rooms they are doing a great job of containing the noise and keeping the available rooms noise and dust free. WiFi is free which helps a lot. Rooms are gorgeous, and I was blessed with fresh flowers and fruit in my room. Vinod was my housekeeper and did a terrific job. Tamara restaurant can't be praised enough. They have Continental, Indian, Thai, Japanese and Chinese food in their extravagant buffet. My complaint daily was it was too good and I overate. No better sous-chef that Amit Sharma! And his boss Vivek is the best! I feel at home there, and the staff makes it so. Thank you.
"High evel hotel in the center of Delhi"
It is one of my preferred hotel in the center of Delhi. It has excellent services, including external swimming pool, and also very good restaurants and a nice bar with a lot of people in the evening. Of course it has a cost aligned with the other high level hotels of that zone but I could find a very good deal on booking.com
