Fantastic hotel and found the prices to be more than reasonable for the hotel status that it is. Worth it for couples, business and even families. My only comment to the management would be about the service. Please try to be a bit quicker with your check in process. Took us 20 mins. Too long and I know most hotels have a lengthy process... More staff by pool. Found it difficult to get anyone's attention. Same with breakfast, not enough staff. Otherwise great weekend.
"Fine but no more "
Family holiday at Easter had booked 2 rooms one for elderly relative. Check in was very late post BA flight was very disappointed not to be allocated rooms next door to each other with a view of the Mosque as requested. There was also no additional bed for my son so not a great start. Attempts to resolve that evening failed miserably due to poor attitude at check in desk and an apparently full hotel. This was resolved the following day. The hotel is fine if a little tired rooms and pool area need refurb. There should not be pool tiles loose in the pool in a 5 star hotel for example. Food in the main buffet is high quality although the service is nothing short of useless. Similar around the pool good luck in trying to get a drink! The service in the horizon club however is excellent, if only it was spread across the hotel. The hotel location is good with the souk next door with some nice places to eat, a short ride to the mosque and a 20 min taxi to yas island, Ferrari world etc. To finish check out was worse than than check in, incorrect bill lots of debate before finally resolved. In summary decent hotel let down by underinvestment and in the main poor quality staff. Shangri La you should and can be better than this. Would need some convincing that things have changed to visit again.
We only came here for a brunch. The food is amazing. The staff are wonderful. We especially loved the fresh seafood and grilled lobster. Love to have a brunch there again. Staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive.
"Excellent 3 night stay in Abu Dhabi"
We used this hotel as a 3-night stayover on our way to Thailand. We had booked two Horizon rooms which were on the 4th floor. We traveled as a family with our four children aged from 17 to 10. The greeting at the hotel from the staff was excellent and we enjoyed a very prompt in room check in. The service from all hotel staff members was excellent and synonymous with the Shangri-La brand, hence why we chose to stay in these hotels. We were half board and enjoyed eating in the buffet restaurant plus the Chinese restaurant one evening. Food all of an excellent quality. Beach and pool were both fantastically clean and served very well. Great choice for our stay and would not hesitate to recommend.
"Thoroughly enjoyable stay"
Had a lovely two-night stay in the Shangri-la. Gorgeous, quiet room with the touches you would expect from a five-star (fluffy robes and slippers, high-end bath soaps and shampoos, fruit tray, mini-bar, complimentary water, etc.). The staff were wonderful - friendly, efficient and accommodating. The buffet breakfast was amazing - they had thought of everything! Can't actually think of anything negative to say. Thoroughly recommend!
