This is the third Shangri-La hotel we have stayed in and we always go for a Horizon Club room. Our room was a good size, a nice touch is the window seat so you can sit and take in and enjoy the view of the harbour and Opera House (see pic). The bathroom was spacious and up to Shangri-La standards with good quality products. The wow factor is the spectacular view from the club lounge. Staff are friendly, though I feel local knowledge was missing from some of the Horizon Club lounge staff compared to the ground floor concierge team who were superb.
"Great view and location"
This is a hotel that I can recommend in Sydney. Great location, fantastic view of the harbour and fast WiFi. The staff is very friendly and professional. Check-in and check-out was really fast. It would be great to have breakfast in a nicer room. I recommend to eat early to avoid crowds. I'm sure I will return to this hotel.
Beautiful hotel, beautiful room, great observation deck with huge glass windows overlooking harbour and the Bridge, we were going to go to dinner but the free spread they put on filled us up! Great view of the harbour and bridge from our room as well. Spacious, luxurious. We have stayed there twice, both for a wedding anniversary.
"Hotel with great Views"
I stayed here prior to boarding a cruise ship out of Sydney. I stayed in Room 2313 which is a Premier Grand Harbour View Room. The room stood just at the top level of the nearby Four Seasons Hotel and from the windows you could easily see people in the other nearby hotels. The views over Sydney harbour were amazing with clear views all the way out to Watson's Bay. The room had a long L shaped hallway to enter with a medium open sitting area next to the bed with bench style seats around the windows. The Bathroom was of good quality with a narrow bathtub but usable, spacious sink, toilet close to the floor that you feel like you are in a squatting position, and a spacious shower cubicle with door that prevents water spillage in the rest of the bathroom. It is somewhat of a walk to Circular Quay. There is a back entrance on the level below ground level and the lobby which is convenient if you are walking to Circular Quay.
Let's start with the location - the Shangri-La is perched on one side of the famed Circular Quay and boasts expansive views of Sydney Harbour. It is breathtaking, with clear views of the harbour bridge and opera house. Rooms are well appointed - if you're going for a special treat be sure to book a room near the top and pay extra for the horizons club inclusions. Our families enjoyed meeting in the lounge for breakfast, coffee, aperitifs, and quiet moments of newspaper reading throughout the day. Much nicer than meeting in our rooms. The club lounge has wonderful views and exceptional customer service. If you are visiting Sydney from overseas, do consider this hotel. It is worth the money - you are walking distance to Circular Quay, The Rocks, Barangaroo and the CBD. And if you don't want to walk anywhere, perch near a window and enjoy the ever-changing view. Spectacular!
