"Perfect view, perfect stay!"
Stayed here as a guest while accompanying my daughter on a business related trip. The facilities were flawless. The breakfast buffet was awe inspiring, it soon became a favorite part of the day. We had the best view in all of Sydney, with both the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House on display. It is located in the "Rocks" area of Sydney, the oldest part of the town, with lots of fun things to do within walking distance. Service at the hotel was quick and friendly, without being overly pushy. Great place to stay!
"Good location with good service "
Went there for business meeting and it was a pleasant experience. Location is the USP of this place with a stunning view of opera house. Sea side is a walk away. Service is good and rooms were neat and clean
"Business as usual"
Shangri-la is one of those very consistent luxury hotel, with most probably the most comfortable beds. The Sydney hotel is no different, great service, great views and a good location. It does not come with the wow factor, but is is nevertheless very Shangri- La
"Long Weekend in Sydney"
We have now stayed at the Shangri-La several times when coming to Sydney - where else would you stay with such great views of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House. We had a room on the Horizon Level No 3013 which look straight across the harbour - what a view. Service at the hotel is great , staff very helpful - the hotel lives up to its reputation. Well done all!
"Doesn't live up to the hype"
Stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my 40th birthday and booked an executive city and opera house view room. Room was fairly basic and dated. Somewhat cramped too for what purports to be a five star hotel. The other Shangri-La's around the world are vastly superior to this one. Given the cost of the room, other five star hotels in Sydney offer better rooms, views and value. Horizon Bar opens on Level 36 at 5pm. It's a complete fight at this time to get a lift to your floor as all lifts head to Horizon Bar with Shangri-La staff calling the lifts and trying crowd control. Why not just have 2 of the 6 lifts dedicated to level 36 only at this time' Charging items to your room goes solely on room number and names aren't checked from the docket to room numbers. On checking out we were charged for someone else's bar bill on the day of my 40th when we hadn't dined or been in the Bar at all (Had been out of the hotel until after midnight). Querying this we had to wait 10 minutes for Reception staff to go and obtain the actual docket for them to check. No apology or anything was given when they realised their mistake and to credit it off we had to sign a credit note from them for the amount rather than them just remove it from the bill. Glad I tried it once, but would not stay again at this hotel as the hotel does not live up to the brand name.
