We're family of 4 with 2 kids and we just get back from Shangri La after 5 days. We travel together to lots of places around the world and personally I started by thinking Maldives and Shangri La are both overrated.....boy I'm sooo wrong. We had the most amazing time in the resort and never in our travel we're sad leaving the place. It was such an amazing place to spend bonding quality time with your family Did so many activities here, went for 2 round of golf with my son and then touring the course with family. Beautiful scenery all around. We went for the Maldivian night fishing and we never fish before but we got 8 small fish though and kitchen went BBQ for us later. The guide are friendly and patient. One of the guest even manage to fish a 5-6 meter reef shark. My daughter was estastic with the video she took. Went for family discovery Scuba and Linda and Thomas are awesome and we all feel very safe with them. Did stand up paddle and kayaking. Jet ski around the atoll didn't see much but enjoy the thrill. Me and wife try out massage by the pool and also Chi Spa...heavenly. Try out all the restaurant in the island and fashala is fine dining. Dr Ali and Jaavu good food too. Josefina who serve us at fashla and Jaavu provide us with excellent service all the time. Couple of in villa dining all good except the Nasi goreng and pad thai below average We stay at water villa for the 5 days and felt it's money well spent, we enjoying the snorkel at door step daily and saw so many fish. Stay at whispering palms side where the house reef are. We saw even turtle and twice baby reef shark. Finally we have Arif our villa host who's very helpful arranging our golf games and also pick up and send off schedule. We're given extended check up till 3pm as our flight back at 5 At the end the whole trip was just amazing and if you can afford the stay, go do it. We basically loves everything in Shangrila bilingualism. You'll have great time in all aspect and we'll be planning our trip back
Me & my wife got married on september. After a brief discussion, we decided to spent our honeymoon in shangri-la villingili resort & spa. We stayed in a water villa for five nights. Villa itself was amazing. You cannot wish for more. It was of full comfort & well intergrated with nature. We enjoyed the water sports activities, pools, bars, snorkeling & the dolphin trip. We like the house reef & the beautiful corals very much. All the staffs we met was very kind & helpful. They never fail to greet us on any time with a smile. Specially our villa host Aslah was outstanding & was very kind. He was very patient & gentle with us. Upon arrival he gave us a small phone to be in touch with him when ever we needs any assistance. Not only about the resort, we got to know many useful informations about Maldives & their culture. We would love to be taken care of by him on our next visit too. We left the island with great memories. It was one of the best vacation on our lives. Thank you shangri-la villingili resort & spa for making our honeymoon so memorable. We are really impressed by the great hispitality. See you guys soon 😊
Me and my friends had a lovely stay in the hotel. The staff is lovely and friend and all the natural beauties surround the island are gorgeous. I recommend to stay in a water villa and wake up early to enjoy the delicious breakfast. Save time to do a massage with Sampa in the spa. Unforgettable time.
The resort is on an island a short boat ride from Gan Airport. It is one of the southern most resorts in the Maldives. It is an outstanding resort. Three excellent restaurants allow for plenty of variety. The standard of accommodation is first class. For privacy the Tree house Villa, with its own private pool is hard to beat. The staff are very good indeed and could not be more attentive. From my perspective, there are absolutely no negatives.
"Dream destination for a beachlover"
There are a couple words that described my stay at this resort: wow, dreamy, heaven, serenity, happiness. Simply had an absolutely fantastic say in this little piece of heaven on earth. Yes a lot of superlatives, but what do you expect' There is hardly anything to complain about this place. The service was lovely, the food was good, the overwater bungalow was fantastic and the island itself is huge and offers a lot of activities. The location is a bit off the beaten path and it will take a domestic flight of 1,5h to get to the resort, which is fantastic, cause Maldives from the air is just as beautiful. At Male Airport I was already greeted by a Shangri-La representative and I was guided to the business lounge where I enjoyed free internet and I could have lunch/dinner. The flight to Gan Airport was scenic and smooth. There was a Shangri-La team waiting at the airport and a 1-min bus ride brought me to the speedboat. Another 10 minutes later I was welcomed by another huge team a Shangri-La crew on Villingili Island. A welcome coconut was handed out and every guest got a private buggy to their villas. Overwater Bungalow The bungalow was huge, with a massive bathroom plus outdoor private shower. In the front there was the bedroom with amazing ocean views. The balcony has a big bed to chill but also two sunbeds plus a supersized hammock, see the pictures. Villingili Island Every guest get his own bike and its super enjoyable to cycle around the island, be aware it is not as small as you might think and there are loads of hidden spots. There is a divecenter, watersports are for hire a gold course, beaches of course, snorkel spots, paddle boards, kayaks, jet skies, etc. But best thing was cycling around on this private Shangri-La Island. The highest point in Maldives is also here: Mount Villingili which is fun to take a picture with. Restaurants I tried Dr. Ali (Indian Ocean to Chinese) and Fashala (fine dining, local seafood) restaurant. Both super tasty, Dr. Ali a bit cheaper. Night time views were equally stunning! Breakfast is next to the pool and the welcome pier. A great place on the beach to have your breakfast. Mostly I just enjoyed every minute of my stay with hanging at the beach, taking in the great surrounding and stare in unbelieve of its magnificent beauty. The coolest thing was probably the unexpected size of the island and exploring it by bike and golf cart. The island is private and only hotel guests and staff is around. It was a unique experience!
