The Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort is located at the splendid corniche in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. Along with being a ‘green city', thanks to its many tree-lined avenues and parks, Abu Dhabi is also becoming a vibrant and bustling city and is on the verge of transforming itself into a truly global city - planned to be a centre for the fine arts.
"Hounded like a criminal..."
I am currently staying here. Gave authorisation for all incidentals to be charged to my bank card. Came back from a day around the pool to find my mini bar had been locked. When I enquired about it I was told it's because my bank card was debit and not credit. Had a meal in the restaurant tonight and the waiter gave me a chit to sign to charge it to my room. When I'm my room later 2 members of staff were at my door with a card machine asking me to pay for the meal I had just eaten!!! I paid them in cash but was annoyed they had hunted me down as an absconder; after all they had my card details on file for charges. This is my first night/first time in Abu Dhabi and I have to say I'm not feeling welcome here 😔
"Short stay get away "
My wife and I decided to visit Abu Dhabi for a short break and we chose the Sheraton due to the reasonably priced rates. This hotel I have been told is one of the older ones in Abu Dhabi but you wouldn't think that in the slightest as it has been well maintained and has excellent facilities. We had a late check in on arrival and were met by the welcoming porters and reception staff. The staff here as with most places in the UAE were fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful, from the gentlemen who cleaned our room to the bar, reception and waiting staff; all friendly and more than willing to assist with anything we needed. The hotel has ample bars and restaurants, we had lunch at the pool side bar and dinner at the Italian and the tavern bar. The food was nice however slightly pricey for what it was. Around the area there isn't too much unless you go to another hotel which I imagine would be similar prices. A couple of times we visited the mall which is close by which has a great selection to chose from and cheaper prices. Facilities at the hotel are great, we took a walk to the private beach but didn't use it as the pool area is great with a pool bar and ample sun beds. We also utilised the hotel gym while staying and it too is well kitted out with all the machines and free weights you would expect from a five star resort. At night time outside the gym and close to the beach there is a bar which has a great atmosphere. The hotel is well placed for 20 - 30 min taxi rides to and from the airport, Yas Island and the rest of Abu Dhabi. We visited the Etihad Towers for drinks one night and that too was only a short taxi ride away. Also a must see is the Grand Mosque which is also around 20mins in a taxi. I would highly recommend visiting and taking one of the (free) friendly and informative guided tours, you will not be disappointed. On the whole I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Abu Dhabi as we certainly enjoyed our visit.
"Very disappointed with airport transfers booked through the Sheraton"
We recently stayed at the Sheraton on a stopover from London to Sydney with a baby and a small child. I booked the airport transfers through the Sheraton despite the more expensive price because I wanted to be sure the car would have a baby capsule as requested and paid extra for. I was confident a Sheraton Hotel would have no problems delivering on this promise. We arrived at 1am after a long flight to find out the car did not have the capsule. After waiting at night with two tired children for over an hour one was finally found even though it was in another terminal and we had to drive 8 minutes on a busy road with our small baby on my knee. The baby capsule which we used was old and smelt strongly of cat urine. Upon arrival we accepted the hotel's apology, discounted transfer price and assurance it would be sorted out before our return to the airport. To our utter disbelief when we went to get into the car to head back to the airport (after confirming the baby capsule two more times) once again there was no seat suitable for a small baby only boosters for older children. When a baby seat was found it was broken and the strap couldn't be done up. With the clock ticking towards our flight we had to strap our young baby into a seat not suitable for her age and I had to support her for the 20 min drive to the airport in an upright position. Luckily we were not involved in an accident. I expect more from a Sheraton especially as we were prepared to pay a premium price for a service they confirmed they could deliver. Otherwise, this is a very family friendly hotel, a great pool for kids, wonderful staff.
Having read many reviews before booking we were not disappointed. Hotel is a very good location, right on the Corniche with a little private beach into the bargain. Staff were extremely professional and friendly. Everything is thought of from nice warm fresh towels for the beach down to a delicious breakfast selection. This hotel is in a good location to walk the Corniche to the old dhow port area (20 mins) or catch the big bus tour around the City. It takes about 30 mins and £16-20 in taxi from airport. Our room was very comfortable with a good bathroom and shower. Lots of bottled water supplied daily free of charge along with the normal tea and coffee. Pool area is nicely presented with plenty of beds. Hotel offers guests a good selection of places to eat and drink. Our booking included breakfast. Air conditioning was good along wifi. We would not hesitate to return to the nice comfortable hotel.
"We'll Run Hotel"
We're on our fourth night of a five night stay at the Sheraton Abu Dhabi resort, and we couldn't have picked a better place. The staff to a person are friendly and ever so accommodating. Nothing is too much to ask. The hotel has a charm which many hotels lack. I'm a platinum SPG member and have logged countless stays throughout the globe, and I find this hotel has the perfect charm and service. The pool and beach facilities are very relaxing, and the fitness center gets five stars with the variety of machines, cardio vascular, and free weights. The breakfast is fantastic. I've rarely experienced such a delectable spread. Definitely include the breakfast in your rate. You will thank me for the suggestion. We took taxi to the Grand mosque for 40 dirham, included tip, 40 more back to the Heritage center and Emirates Palace, a short walk to the marina mall and a 20 Dirham taxi w/tip back to the hotel, made this a very full day. This hotel really has charm. As a platinum SPG membe, I really appreciated the club lounge happy hour. The snacks were tasty and the drinks were top notch. If you are thinking about staying here, contact me and I can give more information. Love this place and the attentive staff!
