"A lovely hotel!"
We went to Berlin for my partners surprise 50th birthday trip away. We got to the hotel after 11:30pm (thanks to easy jet!). We were quickly checked in, our room was lovely. Spacious, airy and the bathroom is by far the cleanest and well maintained bathroom I've seen. The twin beds had been pushed together so it was hard to notice it wasn't a double. We asked about food at that time of night, the man at reception seemed unsure but directed us to Harry's Bar. The girl who served us was very pleasant and keen to help us. The guy on piano was fabulous! A joy and a treat to listen to. My only 2 disappointments, the first of which is possibly not the fault of the hotel (I booking with booking.com) was I'd requested a price for balloons in the room for our arrival (as it was his 50th) I heard nothing about this after my email. The 2nd is, wifi isn't free. Why not' This hotel is quite far away from the action of Berlin centre but with the efficient train systems, isn't too much of a problem.
"A vintage hotel in the quiet part of town"
The hotel is nice and while was being renovated when visited gave a nice feeling of quaintness. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The major crowd seemed to be the elderly or people for whom the nearby office area would be at walkable distance. The rooms are large, well furnished, cozy and plush. The bathrooms are also sufficient although nothing luxurious or over the top. The breakfast buffet spread is quite decent and fulfilling and perfect for some conversation over it. The pool is small, triangular and cozy in the basement and the gym is rather small but equipped and functional. There's a small stream flowing right across the road in front of the hotel which adds to the charm of the place. The Wi-Fi is only active/available in the lobby area so if one doesn't want to pay for it in the rooms then one would have to hang around the lobby which doesn't have too many places to sit or at least didn't at that point of time. Getting a cab is no problem at all. One has to just step out. Most of the major attractions are quite a distance away and while I walked a lot to all the places as I was blessed with a nice sunny day (temperature of 8 degree celsius and strong cold breeze), one can't really indulge in something like that if it's raining. Towards one side is Ka De We and the market place extending into the area which has the Christmas markets and to the other side is the City centre and other attractions.
Great location great hotel Stayed there in September 2016 Breakfast was very good Rooms are large and comfortable Minibar stocked well. Good toiletries also. Great location to roam around Berlin Great Keep it up
"Excellent hotel and staff ... but please note"
This is a lovely hotel, spacious rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. A couple of things you should be aware of are that the hotel is located in a fairly isolated down town type area... that is, there's nothing much around there .. a bit depressing .. so it's a cab ride to anywhere you want to go. Also, they charge for WiFi in the room which for a luxury type hotel is a bit mean spirited I think. The small NewYork bar is fun at weekends with a band.
My review is solely based on the staff's poor customer service and poor location of the hotel. My friend and I (both young girls from London) stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and 4 days. During the stay the housekeeping will PERSISTENTLY knock on your door every 20 minutes even if you tell them in German to come back in a few hours. They do not know English or German - be warned. Upon leaving the hotel - we were given a 44 Euro bill for a "red wine" spillage on the carpet and chair - which was actually fruit juice - as they can see in the fridge. Alexander [-] (receptionist who hides behind a fake smile) told us that the cleaner had attempted to clean this stain beforehand. He took us up to the room as we assured them we had not drank red wine. We got on our HANDS and KNEES and cleaned the stain right away with towels and shower gel. ALEXANDER [-] said they would have to cut the carpet out for this juice stain!!!! If the cleaner had tried with "premium cleaning products" - then how did we remove it with a shower gel - it was a blatant lie to get money out of us. Alexander [-] then wanted to charge us for the towels we had used - juice and shower gel on a towel is not going to harm the towel - people do far worse on the towels at hotels!!! Alexander and the deputy manager went to check the stains but were not satisfied with the chair EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CLEAN - we argued for an hour and a half but they were not willing to excuse this accidental spillage. Alexander [-] was ignoring me at the reception and did not want to give his name - he then got very angry, pointed his finger and was sent into the back room by his manager - extremely unprofessional behaviour. Yet we were still charged after this event! I have stayed in several Sheraton hotels and this is by FAR the worst. They try and make money out of their guests - for example the sauna and wifi are not free to use - very strange in a 4* hotel. This hotel is also in a residential area - with poor views and there is nothing of importance nearby. A Sheraton hotel making their guests clean on their hands and knees' Unbelievable!
