"Good Hotel In Heart iof City"
The Sheraton hotel is a sweet spot to settle into the city of Salvador. Close to many of the cities attractions...Within walking distance of a few shops to pick up essentials for your room. The hotel has a good breakfast buffet...The bar is also a nice place in the evening...

"Power Cut Fiasco"
I have to agree with the other reviewers as I was there also when the power failed. Woke up very early as the A/C had failed and the room was boiling. Then discovered no power in the room/corridor either. To have internal stair wells without any form of emergency lighting or backup supplies is negligent in the extreme. If someone from the Sheraton's head office reads this, then please make them put in battery powered emergency lights before someone get killed. I won't even bother writing about anything else, as to do so would be like asking Mrs Lincoln what she thought of the play!
"Safety standards low"
Had power cut in hotel and all lifts were out. Tried to use emergency stairs which were pitch black. Very dangerous descending 12 flights of stairs and back again in total darkness. Managers comments was why didn't I use the light on my phone!! Very poor technical standards. Avoid. PS phone was dead because of power outage. Rest of hotel is not up to sheraton standards. Breakfast very poor.
Good points - a short ride to beach and old town; many staff speak some english; shower worked well. Clean. Wifi up to 1.7Mb per day. Bad points - Down-town area - some people might not feel safe walking out at night. My room was noisy due to windows not closing properly and lack of sound insulation in the corridor. Pool too small for a hotel of this size. Breakfast was poor - mainly cakes and processed cheese and vapid ham that you would avoid in the supermarket. Do not expect cooked tomato, mushroom bacon and so on. Service in the lobby bar was slow both times we used it, even though it was not crowded. The second time, after a 15 minute wait we went to the reception desk to order! The receptionoist told us it would be another 5 minutes until someone from the bar could take our drinks order. We left. Overall - I agree with others that this place does not have what a guest expects from an international hotel chain in one of the major cities of Brazil. The management need to shake up their ideas.
