"Hotel very good, Internet very bad"
I've been staying at the Sheraton hotel in Edinburgh for several months on business, and whilst it's a clean and pleasant hotel their draconian policies towards the Internet and appalling download speeds render it virtually unusable even when paying for their premium Internet package. Also if you happen to leave anything in your room it'll be the last you'll ever see of it. Definitel not what you'd expect from a hotel in this price bracket.
"Great hotel, excellent location, attentive service"
The hotel, not exactly cheap, has rooms with view of the castle, and offers amenities consistent with a 5 star property. It has great spa as well. Toiletries in the rooms are spa-like and everything works. Just simply works. The staff are friendly and very professional. I booked a room with the castle room for £180, and the hotel upgraded me to a two-room suite.
"An outstanding stay!"
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I booked my teenage daughter and I in for a long weekend and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and left feeling decidedly spoilt. One has to look past the austere, characterless exterior of the hotel because the service and the spa really make it a worthwhile place to stay. The clubrooms are extremely good value for money and are located on the 7th floor. The floor has its own private lounge where breakfast is served in the mornings and where they serve complimentary canapés and drinks at 5pm. Beside the impressive spa, what truly makes this place is its staff, all of whom were unfailingly friendly, professional, polite and attentive.
"Hotel and spa are of a very high standard."
The interior of the hotel is of a very high standard which you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The public areas and rooms are very luxurious and modern. The spa is located in a different building, however access from the hotel is via a covered walkway, which is bonus. This allows you to wear your bath robe to go down to the spa if you so desire. The rooms have all modern amenities including a full range of sockets to accommodate your phone, computer and laptop. Particularly liked the instruction leaflets on how to work the lighting, heating etc, great for those not so technically minded like myself! Very refreshing to see the hotel supports protection of the environment by asking guests to consider green options. The bar is very appealing with views of the Usher Hall with the Castle in the background. The spa is a must to visit, one of the best I have every visited, The outdoor hydro pool is a MUST have experience. The only downsides the hotel is not that appealing from the outside. The tiling in the bathroom cubicle of the room was extremely uneven. The toilet floor in the spa changing rooms was in need of a wash. The staff in the spa took a while to acknowledge we had arrived. It was not clear exactly what they were doing, however a ' good evening I will be just a couple of minutes' would have sufficed . The staff at reception and the bar were all very welcoming and attentive.
"Couldn't have asked for a better night away!"
Having stayed with Sheraton in Fiji and were very impressed, I booked this particular hotel for a surprise night away with my boyfriend. We were absolutely blown away with how amazing this hotel was! Every single staff member were courteous and friendly. We were offered a free room upgrade to city view and it was stunning! Will definitely pay for the upgrade next time as it would be well worth it! Check-in and concierge staff couldn't be more helpful. Room was amazing and exactly what we needed with a very comfy bed!! The spa was amazing- we paid for access to the hydro pool and steam rooms and was also well worth it! So relaxing and such a fantastic idea for a hotel. We dined in the restaurant and they service was great- we had a lovely girl from Malta(sorry I didn't get her name). She gave us one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. And we eat out a lot!! Finished the night off with a drink in the bar which was pleasant. We felt sorry for the girl as she did all the work while her colleague stood talking to who looked to be another staff member not in uniform. A little off putting as a fellow female... The only piece of constructive feedback I would give is to have a different system for taking coats when dining as I watch the hostess try to put my coat on someone else while I was still eating. A mini heart attack I did not need! Other than this is was a perfect stay! We will be back again Sheraton and thank you for a well needed night away :)
