"Defo not 5 star!"
We just got back this last week from a nine night stay. The room was nice but the rest of the hotel bar the reception was more like 3star plus. This hotel is in total need of an upgrade - pool area - concrete surrounding the pool needs redoing is unsafe on your feet. The buffet for breakfast good variety apart from if you want fresh eggs or omlettes be prepared wait 20 mins as only one person on that station. Plus birds actually eating the bread at the buffet! the buffet in the evening is very poor - the first night we arrived everything that should have been hot was stone cold! You can eat at the other restaurants if you on half board you get 32euros per adult to use. Japanese wasnt bad but teppanyaki is supposed to be show cooking - none of that here! Drinks and lunch menu overpiced for the service you got. All in all a very disapointed customer and will not be returning!
"Great hotel but don't eat dinner there"
Just come back from a wonderful week. The Sheraton has a top location and the staff and amenities are really good. One bit of advice.... don't make our mistake and go Half Board. We found out when there that half board is dinner only. Breakfast was superb, lunch by the pool very nice and then the Hotel buffet dinner let everything down. It was three star rather than five star. Highly recommended are one of the many restaurants in La Caleta old fishing port.
"Sheraton you need to up your game!"
I'm a huge fan of writing reviews whilst in resort! They tend to be more accurate! I've stayed here once before and used the hotel as a base, somewhere to put our heads down at the end of the day! To be fair the last time we stayed we missed the half term holidays and the bedlam that this ensues! The Sheraton La Caleta is a 5 star, but is so far behind some of the other 5 stars in the area, in so many ways! It is tired in places, it's over priced when in resort, for both food and drink- nearly 40 Euros for two G&T's and a milkshake... Dubai eat your heart out!!!! The breakfast room is very tired! It has a certain smell, that is very off putting! It's crazily busy during school holidays and not a nice place to want to eat breakfast! Our advice, do what we did and pay the €22 per day extra, if possible, to watch the birds eat the pastries that were for human consumption, in the Club breakfast facility by the pool!!! The freezing pool is massively in need of renovation and so is the concrete surround around the pool that is breaking away and making surfaces un even, dirty and unnsafe to walk on! The large freeform hot tub... has never been one... and if you can get the jets to stay on for more than 30 seconds... you are a genius! Please don't order food from the pool bar during busy lunch times, they leave it in direct sunlight for sometime, whilst the over worked staff serve others! Even more disconcerting, joe public walk past the food, to go to the loos ( which really need more frequent cleaning during busy times) the closeness to the food which is left out in the open is just a complete no no! We didn't spend much time around the hotel last time and we accepted for the price, the quality of the accommodation, but you cannot pretend to be a luxury hotel and only deliver on surface value!!! WETHER BUSY OR NOT STANDARDS MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES!! On a positive note the staff deal we dealt with, in general, were polite and accommodating.... mostly! This hotel needs a lot of attention to bring it back up to a standard we might expect of a 5 star! This hotel isn't a 5 star, as it stands, by comparison... it charges 5 star prices but that's about it!
"A very special holiday "
This hotel was absolutely superb - our room was beautiful; light, airy, spacious, good air con, shaded balcony overlooking gardens and one of the pools, huge bathroom - everything you would expect and more. Breakfast buffet was probably the best we have had anywhere - extensive choice and lovely restaurant with choice of indoor or terrace seating. The hotel's location was great - a quiet setting but only a short stroll from beaches, restaurants, shops and bars. In the other direction, about a 20 min walk was La Caleta, a picturesque fishing village with some really nice restaurants and small cafés - great place for a coffee or watching the sunset over a glass of Cava. Staff at the hotel were helpful, efficient and friendly -special mention for the young chef cooking fresh eggs on the griddle at breakfast - cheerful, friendly and made great omelettes! This was our first visit to Tenerife and this excellent hotel made it an unforgettable experience.
"Relaxing and Enjoyable Sheraton"
Overall, very happy with a 5 day stay at the Sheraton La Caleta - fairly pleasant and luxurious feel to grounds (especially the pools), generally friendly customer service, central location, and full suite of amenities. However, had some minor negative experiences that impacted opinion of the resort (namely, treatment of SPG members and benefits received, poor wifi, and mediocre spa), but would still recommend to anyone visiting the area. This hotel is located in a busy tourist area close to various restaurants and short walk to some popular local beaches. It is fairly easy to find (we rented a car with navigation) and under 30 minute drive from the Southern airport. There is convenient onsite parking. First impression of the lobby and entryway was fairly positive, despite some construction going on in check in area. We booked a regular deluxe room and were given the 1st room off hallway on the 1st floor, which was somewhat loud and had no view and limited natural light. Being an SPG Gold member, was surprised there was nothing better (location, higher floor, etc) nor any upgrades available. I honestly don't believe this to be the case as the hotel did not seem that crowed throughout our stay (and rooms were still available online for booking). In addition, the staff at check in ensured they would keep looking for availability for upgrades to move us in the coming days; this did not happen. They also did not understand my access to the Sheraton Club lounge and it took 20 minutes to sort out; even then, the they told me that the hotel bifurcates access to breakfast (served at the poolside restaurant) with other club benefits, a surprising policy. It took two days and a call to the U.S. to sort out the issue - after which the manager provided an in person apology for the misunderstanding and invitation to the club breakfast for the rest of our trip. The club room itself is a semi private area off the lobby; in the evenings, there is a nice cocktail and tapas/appetizer offering with an open bar. Despite the location of our room, it was was spacious, clean, comfortable and modern enough. You don't come to Tenerife to stay in your room anyway. The pools are the highlight of the property - surprisingly pleasant, large, and surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs (both sunny and shady areas). The salt water pool was impressive and well designed, although chilly (there is a warm jacuzzi near the center). During our stay, weather was mixed with some windy/chilly days so the heated pool would get a bit crowded. The public beach is a short walk away along a nice boardwalk which also takes you into town. Some people have recently noted that nearby construction was apparent and impacted the atmosphere by the pool, but we did not hear any work being done over our stay. There are several restaurants onsite including Spanish, Japanese, beach bar, and lobby bar. We had breakfast at the poolside restaurant, which was extremely enjoyable and great way to start a day in Tenerife. There was generally attentive and friendly service offered throughout the hotel; specific shout out to Fabio at the pool and Maria at the bar and Club lounge. Other: - wifi at first worked well throughout hotel. Then in middle of stay it stopped working completely for half the day and was slow for rest of our trip - there is a surprisingly small gym for such a large property, which would get somewhat tight with only handful of people. However, equipment (7 cardio machines, rack of free weights, and a few weight machines) all modern - spa is accessible with EUR15 fee, although we got 1 day complimentary. The day we went the sauna was not working and everything else (steam and pools) were not hot enough. Would not spend the money for access. - they have a basic mini golf course on premises (which is more fun and challenging than expected) - there is children's play area and separate pool
