"Great Place for a Conference"
We held our annual conference here in August and we were very pleased. Stephanie, the Convention Services Manager, was fantastic to work with before and during the conference. She was very helpful and flexible with our changing needs. The hotel is a great location; right across the street from Disney and surrounded by every restaurant known to man. The activity staff out at the pool were a lot of fun. My room was quite nice.
I hesitated when I reserved a room at this location due to the mixed reviews, but we left beyond happy. My family and I reserved one night here after spending several days at a Disney resort (which was double the price that we paid per night here). I wanted to be well rested on the drive back home and the Disney resort we were at was booked solid so I looked online and I found a great deal here. I wasn't broken hearted that we had to move locations when I walked into our room. The outside of this hotel does look dated, but do not judge a book by its cover because this hotel is beautiful and updated. Our hotel room was just as spacious as the Disney resort, the beds and pillows were 100x more comfortable and I slept so much better here than I did at the other hotel. The view of the pool from our room sent my 10 year old into excitement overload when he looked out the window and saw the gorgeous pools and slide. When we laid down on the beds and pillows we melted. We checked in fairly late after spending all day at one of the parks and my son was thrilled to discover the pool was still open for another hour! The bar and pool area is huge and beautiful. They have a kiddie pool, a beautiful fire place area, several seats and spaces for privacy, cute little cabanas that you can rent and close for privacy, an awesome slide that opens from 10am-10 pm that my son went down over and over again with a huge smile on his face. They have corn hole by the bar and a ping pong table! We were thrilled to discover the room service menu (yum) and the late hours so we ordered room service for a very late dinner because we were too exhausted to leave the hotel. We ordered the lemon shrimp pasta, a cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich and the food was deliscious, they cooked my shrimp to perfection-when so many sit down restaurants mess this up I was thrilled to find my shrimp cooked so perfectly! We all slept like babies and truly appreciated the 12:00 check out (which was just as easy as check-in). The clientele we encountered was nice and we didn't have a single complaint during our stay. We will definitely be back!
"A Resort Of Last Resort"
The fact that the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort exists is proof positive of two things: First, anyone can call anything a "resort." Second: Sheraton will fly its flag in front of any property. I travel a lot. I am a lifetime Marriott Platinum member who, thanks to the pending merger with Starwood, can now stay in Starwood properties -- like Sheraton -- without feeling like a defector. But to be clear: if this Sheraton is any indication of what Marriott is purchasing, Marriott is facing some very dark days ahead. This property is, in a word, gross. It has spent far too many decades in the Florida humidity without any apparent attempt at serious renovation or upgrading. Our room -- a "family" room -- looked great in the promotional photo. But check out the photos I've uploaded. There is actual daylight between the 1980-era air conditioning unit and the wall, which arguably defeats the very purpose of the air conditioning unit. The bathroom was so disgusting that we had to shower our young children to prevent them from sitting in the tub. The room overlooked the swimming pool which, in theory, beats a view of Apopka-Vineland Road. But... when the hotel is still blasting a movie from the pool at 10:30pm, and you're trying to get your theme-park exhausted kids to bed, it seems as if there's a disconnect between the hotel trying to be "cool" and the hotel defeating the very reason people would stay there. To sleep. (The hotel is just a few miles from Disney Springs. If someone really needs noise and entertainment at 10:30p, take the shuttle). Unless a 1960s or 1970s-era TV drama needs a set, there really is no reason that this property exists. It needs to be knocked down and rebuilt. To be fair, the staff couldn't have been nicer... kind of like the way your Uncle Lenny is nice when talking about your Aunt Bertie, even even though she lost her mind years ago. The staff tries. But there's little they can do. This property lost its funcationality years ago. There's a Thomas Rhett song topping the Country charts right now called "Vacation." Among the lyrics: "Got a couple bucks but I'm spending them like pesos. Might be Motel 6 but it feels like Turks and Caicos." The Motel 6 in the song is unquestionably nicer than the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort. Do yourself a favor. Stay in a Motel 6.
Rooming in Orlando while working storm restoration in Daytona. Our room was very clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly and accomadating. Will recommend this hotel to others and will definitely stay there again when in town.
"Fantastic stay for the family"
My family of 6 stayed here for a week long vacation and had a great time. The entire staff was amazing, from the front desk, those who worked in the restaurant and those who ran the activities in the pool area. As a platinum member, I don't think I have been recognized more than I was at the SLBV. The rooms were clean but a bit run down in a few spots. The organized pool activities were loved by the entire family (adults and kids aged 14, 11, 8, and 5). It is located close to Disney with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We took their shuttle several times to the Disney parks which was convenient and free but since it made trips to all parks, sometimes it was a 30 minute ride from pick up to drop. We will definitely stay here again.
