"Nice pool area, decent conference center"
Stayed at this Sheraton for a few nights for work. We used the conference center which was nice enough. Wifi throughout the hotel wasn't great though. Had to ask for a special promo code when out by the pool. I'd recommend this hotel for both families and business folks. The pool area is great for kids. There's a slide, multiple pools, and outdoor movies in the evening. While the hallways could use some refreshing, the rooms were modern and beds comfortable. Bathtubs could use some new caulk but that's not a huge deal in my book. And if you're headed to the parks, we took uber/Lyft. Only cost $12 to Universal and $8 to Disney Springs. But a cab from the airport is quite pricey (>$50). Lastly, there are also a number of restaurants within walking distance including mini-golf, billiards, and an arcade bar. The lobby is welcoming. Staff is friendly. Fitness center had a lot of equipment. and the buffet breakfast ($16) was perfect for our morning before the park.
"Resort stay with parking fee'''"
The lobby is awesome. The pool was fantastic. The room was clean, but there were some things that needed to be fixed. The ceiling had water damage and the holes in the ceiling. The door handle came off trying to just turn it. Our room had 2 full size beds, bunk beds and a pull out sofa couch. So, literally 8 people could sleep comfortably. The resort fee, no problem $10 bucks. The parking fee $15 is a little much, IMO. We will probably stay here again, since we have a large family.
I stayed at the Property for 2 nights but I didn't have the time to enjoy really the property, but that doesn't mean I had a bad stay. As an SPG member it was easy for me to book it with points, at Check in I was hit by the "resort fee" but that's my fault for not trying to find out all the amenities of the hotel. You do have to pay for parking (self and valet) but that's normal also in FL, so don't act surprise when they let you know about it. My first impression was it's an old building, but it didn't feel like old inside at all. The room was spotless, the carpet does not look worn out, beds at Sheraton are always comfortable and everybody is very cordial. Maybe the only old building feel I get is when I see the Bathroom sink is not inside the bathroom, but it didn't bother me. Stay, enjoy (more then I did) and have fun!!
"A little kid playing dress up, but in a nice way"
So, my review has four stars. Five stars for some things and three stars for others. We had a short stay in Orlando (four nights) so we didn't want to book the usual condo or anything. No rental car either. We had a pleasant stay here. The staff was wonderful, especially the outdoor staff. The location is really convenient. We took Uber everywhere and in total did not spend as much as we would have for ONE day of a rental car. All drivers knew where the hotel was and it was easy peasy. Lots of dining within walking distance. Now, externally it was plain Jane. Needs some sprucing up, but not bad. I am not there for how it looks on the front. The pool area could have been top notch, but it was just a little below what you would expect. The hours are excellent (I hate pools that open late and close early) so that doesn't leave them a lot of time to clean up at night, but I would expect them to sweep the cypress mulch back into the flower beds and off the concrete, hose off the decks and clean chairs/tables. They did not, so although the pool was 'nice', it had the tendency to look shabby and the side tables were sticky all weekend. Small things like that make a difference. The pool staff was excellent, particularly the 'entertainment' staff who was supposed to create fun and games around the pool. I wished they would have had music at night though, not just 6-8 pm before the movie. Nothing for me to do when I returned back from the area attractions except watch a kid movie. But their attempts to entertain us were very good and my kids loved the two hot tubs and the basketball hoops. (The nets on the hoops need replacing though). It just seemed one more step to keep the pool area more tidy would bring this up a notch. Now, for the room. There were three of us; my two teenage sons and myself. The two queen beds were enough but son #2 decided he wanted to sleep on the floor, so he did. The beds were hotel beds. not comfy but not terrible. The cleanliness of the room was fine. I was disappointed to be on the second floor with no balcony and no way to see much because we were 'behind' the slide. I would have preferred a different location. The room was OK, we were not there to hang out in the room. The décor was a little dated but was okay. The weirdest thing was the layout of the bathroom door--opened the wrong way for the light switch. As in most hotel rooms, the light switch is on the outside of the bathroom door but it is not on the 'open' side, but rather the 'hinge' side, so you have to walk past the bathroom, turn on the light, then turn around and go back and go in the door. If you forget to turn on the light and have already opened the door, then you have to close it, walk around it, turn on the light, and go back. Very odd placement of the light switch. Not being picky, but it was just odd. The biggest problem I had (probably just in this room, not the whole place) was the a/c unit sounded like a freight train and had a cycle of about 2 minutes no matter how warm or cool it was in there. It was so LOUD that it kept me up at night and I couldn't watch TV without blaring it because I couldn't hear. That was really the only negative besides the placement of the light switch and the room having no balcony even though we had a pool view room. Otherwise it was a great location, friendly staff, and they really tried to make it fun for families with activities over the Easter weekend.
Booked this hotel after reading reviews and the resort's "millions of dollars renovations". Believe most of the money went into the pool area, which was nice. However, the rooms are subpar. We booked a larger room with separate bedroom/sitting area. Dark and dreary. The bathroom was awful. Black mold and mildew on the ceiling wall and tub. Rust on the bathroom door molding. No place to hang a towel or wet bathing suit' Asked for toilet paper three times!!! Once in the early evening and then the following morning -- had to walk to lobby to get it myself. No apology by staff. TV remote was broken. Took it to lobby, was told a replacement would be brought up immediately -- still waiting. Water bottles were never replaced. We were there six nights, towels were taken but not replaced. On two days our room wasn't done by 8:00pm! Was told there was room service -- no menus. If I pay a resort fee, I expect a resort. Not a glorified motel with poor service and poor housekeeping. I usually don't give bad reviews but this Sheraton needs some serious attention if it expects to compete with the zillion other Orlando hotels and resorts.
