"Beware of scammers!!"
I booked a room via Booking.com for my daughter at the Sheraton Miami Airport as she was travelling alone to meet my husband and I after we returned from a cruise. On arrival my daughter was asked for her credit card which she gave to the Receptionist. On arrival in her room she received a call on her room phone by someone claiming to be from Reception to say that the card reader wasn't working and requested that my daughter give her card details over the phone, including the security number. My daughter said that she would be happy to go back down to reception with her card but the caller said that would not be necessary. She gave the caller the requested information but after she hung up decided to ring reception to ask for a receipt. She was informed by the Receptionist that they had not called her and when she explained what had happened they suggested she cancel her card. My daughter did cancel her card and was contacted early the following morning by her bank to say that someone had tried to use her card three times since it was cancelled. When my daughter checked out the following morning the Receptionist informed my daughter that they would not have put anyone through to her room unless they asked for her by name and gave the correct room number. Nobody was aware of where my daughter was staying apart from myself and my husband, and we were on a cruise ship on the way back to Miami! We can only conclude that the call was made either by a member of the Sheraton staff or someone who had been given my daughter's name and room number by a member of staff. We had booked my daughter a room at the Sheraton hotel as she had travelled to Miami alone and we wanted to be reassured that she was in a respectable safe hotel while waiting for us to arrive in Miami the following day. How wrong could we be!! I want to warn anyone thinking if staying here to ensure they do not give any credit card details to anyone without checking who they are!
"MBark bar and Especially Bartender Victor"
Victor made the bar.. He is Pleasant , knows how to make drinks. He made a mean Old Fashion. He was always friendly and there. That kind of bartender makes you want to go back to the bar. If you go there, make sure to ask for Victor.
"Rest and Relaxation before trip home"
great shuttle service from airport- allowed a late checkout- great pool- our group of five were the only ones using it- golf course across the canal- rooms very comfortable- the beds were especially welcomed with great pillows - they were doing some work in the lobby and restaurant following the hurricane- the bar area was enhanced with Victor appreciating that we had been to Cuba and spoke some Spanish- many kisses and pictures with our group- Many of the staff are Cuban- helpful and welcoming-
"Fun introduction to Cuba"
An evening in the hotel bar getting to know my travel mates for our next morning Cuba adventure, made even more fun by VICTOR - he makes the most amazing mojitos, fabulous personality, and talked to us all about Cuba! Love him!
"Average but very convenient "
We appreciate the shuttle service running all night because our plane landed late. The hotel held our luggage while we walked to the rental car place the next morning after we checked out. Everyone was friendly. The room was dated and average but we were fine with that because we gat an awesome deal for the night on Priceline.
