"A Noisy Rip Off"
Our travel agent had booked us into the Sheraton Airport, Miami for an overnight stay after returning from a cruise. The most positive thing I can say is that upon arrival in mid morning, a room was available. First, the front desk reception was cold and unhelpful. I had politely asked just for a quiet room. I am also a SPG member and hoped that might help on room selection. When we got to the room it faced directly to the airport. As I looked out the window, saw that the center window was missing the inner pane of glass so we got to hear every takeoff loud and clear. To use the coffee maker you had to carry it into the bathroom to reach a plug. After showering in the morning, noted long dark hairs on the floor, not a clean bathroom. Talking with our travel agent about the Sheraton yesterday and find out that the front desk failed to give us our vouchers for the buffet breakfast which had been paid for when she booked the room (I did not remember that little fact) hence the use of rip-off in the heading. The food at the restaurant was quite good as we had lunch, dinner and breakfast. At dinner they were so understaffed, that after waiting 20 minutes with empty plates sitting in front of us, we gave up on desert and asked for the check. Another troubling issue were crumbs on the seats and on the floor, leaving a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness. Upon talking to the agent at checkout, the dinner was taken off our bill. There is little to recommend this hotel. We paid for services we did not get, we were treated much better at Residence Inn during our pre cruise stay. Overall a big disappointment with no reason to be a SPG member. No way to build customer loyalty.
"If proximity to the airport isn't critical, stay elsewhere"
We've travelled a great deal, and stayed at MANY hotels around the world. This one makes the list at "barely acceptable." We stayed here for one night before our cruise, and one night after our cruise. Rather than ramble and ramble, I'll do this as a "good" and "bad" list. Good: - VERY close to the airport. - very pleasant front desk staff. - comfortable bed. - quiet -- plane noise was never an issue. - ongoing renovations weren't intrusive. Bad: - HORRIBLE service at the lobby bar. We sat at the bar and ordered 2 sodas and a spinach/cheese dip. This was 10:15 pm. At about 10:30, a foursome sat beside us and ordered a bunch -- booze, burgers, flatbread pizzas, etc etc. At about 11:00 their food arrived. Not ours. We left. Asked the front desk to bill our room for the 2 sodas. The gentleman at the front desk really wanted to "make it right" but we were too pissed at that point, and it was now after 11:00 pm. - I thought about trying breakfast in the restaurant but after standing and waiting, while I overheard an ENDLESS stream of complaints from people already there, I decided to go hungry instead. - in our first room, the bathroom faucet was so poorly installed that you had to hold the faucet while you turned either tap -- the entire thing hadn't actually been fastened to the counter, except via the water lines. The shower curtain had that charming orange soap scum all along the bottom. - the "new" decor looks fresh out of the 60s or 70s. Perhaps some like it, but not us. - all it took were about 6-8 new guests with luggage and the front lobby became impassable. Who designed this layout' - there is NOTHING to do within walking distance, except for the adjacent golf course. You have to take a shuttle ($10 per person).
"Victor at the lobby Bar"
Victor was excellent! He was very accommodating and made sure that I was taken care of. Not only did he remember my name but he remembered my drink and practically had one waiting for me by the time I sat down. Victor made my stay 10 times better!! One of the best times I have ever had.
"Great Service! "
Just stayed at the Sheraton and wanted to recognize Victor for his exceptional service in the bar! He is such an asset to this Sheraton hotel and definitely plan on returning! He is truly an asset to the Sheraton name!
"Best bar. Victor made us have a great experience"
My girl and I recently had a stay here while waiting for our flight back home. We were delighted after the pool to a happy hour served by victor who made us fantastic drinks and brought us apps. I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a nice hotel near Miami airport.
