Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel is one mile to Arlington National Cemetery. Many attractions including the White House, Lincoln Memorial and the National Museum of Natural History are within a 10-minute drive of the hotel.
We enjoyed staying at the Sheraton. The staff was very friendly particularly the shuttle drivers. The only complaint is the breakfast was not very good. The waitress was good but the quality of the food was poor.Comment of V. Charlotte , United States the 2016-07-21
"Great distance city view"
Very professional front desk staff. Quick check-in. Nice lobby, but old building that is in need of decor update. Great bed and pillows. OK number of TV channels. No fridge or microwave in room, but did have coffee maker. Parking was 30.00 and 15.00 for IHG member located below the hotel which was access from a different elevator. 3 sets of slow running elevators. Convenience store in lobby. Fitness room open 24 hours but several machines needed repair. Pool located next to gym, average size with depth of 3 feet, open till 10pm. May stay again.
"Stay away from the east tower."
Was looking for a good deal for a short family trip to Washington DC. We have to book 2 rooms as there are 7 of us. Looked like a nice hotel online. When we arrived we were excited. It looked like a very nice hotel from the lobby. We were especially excited about the roof pool. When we checked in and were told we were in the east tower I was a little disappointed because that was further from the parking garage and not the main building where the pool and lobby are, which is inconvenient. We walked over to the building where are rooms were and went down steps (with our luggage and small kids) I opened the first room and thought I had the wrong room at first since the lights were on and the bed was unmade. I started to walk in and saw piles of dirty towels on the floor. We left that room and went to the second room and that one was not dirty, however there was a horrible sewage smell coming from the bathroom when you walked in. We deposited our luggage and everyone waited there while I went to get the other room straightened out. They told me that sometimes the rooms are marked in the system as being clean and they aren't (maybe they need to talk with housekeeping about this') They gave me a different room, down another floor and gave me passes for breakfast for my entire party. I thought that was nice. When I checked the new room it was clean and had a joint room so we asked if the rest of our party could be moved there. They did move them. I appreciated this but over all I was very disappointed with the hotel. The building we were in felt like you were in a basement, low ceilings, concrete walls. I looked at 2 different hotels for this trip and I wish I had chosen the other one and saved my money.
"Decent Hotel, But have patience"
Check-in time is 3pm, arrived at 4pm and room was ready at 5:30pm. They gave me a ticket for a free appetizer in the bar/restaurant, however there was no wait staff in the restaurant. They said they would call me when the room was ready, but they never did and I eventually stood in line again to get my room. Finally got to a room, and it's decent enough. At least one plug on the bedside table and water pressure is okay. The TV is the frustrating kind that takes you to a central menu, where you must press a button to go to a guide that doesn't always work, where you can then see what channels and shows are available. One morning I couldn't get the TV to work at all. Why can't these hotels just have a simple TV with a guide and channels' There is nothing within walking distance to the hotel, however the shuttle to the Pentagon City Mall/Station is nice and crisply on time (every 30 minutes). The bar serves okay food and the bartenders make pretty good cocktails. The exercise room is fully equipped with treadmills, bikes, elliptical trainers, and weights; however the TVs that should be available on the aerobic equipment does not work. I was here to attend a conference, so one day for lunch I ate the buffet in the restaurant. The food was decent and eating was quick, however it was a very long wait to get a bill, even after several requests. Both the wait times in the restaurant and for rooms have one solution: hire more people.
I arrived on 3/18 for a 3 night stay to attend a conference and it was definitely the most uncomfortable stay I have ever had. Shower water would not get warm and it was like pulling teeth to get the issue fixed. The staff could care less. Also, housekeeping never came to clean my room, even after I complained about it. This hotel also has NO FREE WIFI, this really boggled my mind. Staff has a "no" attitude. If possible, avoid this place..its not worth it.
"Wish I could check out"
Had to wait hours in the lobby for a room in need of deep cleaning and an overhaul. A view into the covered portico adds to the dreariness. The staff has a "no" attitude. Was told we couldn't use the fitness center while we waited for our rooms -- because we didn't have room keys. At least the bar staff was friendly while we waited. I would check out in the morning but I need to be here for a conference.
