"Very nice with a welcoming staff"
Currently, I am staying at the Sheraton Santo Domingo. I am super impressed with how safe, clean, and well maintained this hotel is. The breakfast included with the room is amazing with local foods and traditional American staples like scrambled eggs. The pool is huge and deep, 9.5 feet at its deepest. The poolside bar not only offers drinks, but bar food as well. I cannot compliment the staff enough. Polite, helpful, and they take the time to help guests. I am more than satisfied with this hotel.
Working away from my children and the comfort of my home is not easy. But when one gets top quality of services and the highest attention and care, like I have these past few days from a very professional and enthusiastic person, who takes her job seriously and does it with love like Maria Esther, it is less difficult. Thanks Maria Esther! Thank you all at the Sheraton. I am very impressed with the professionalism of the staff that I see every day, from the halls to the reception area.
"Stay was 👍🏽👍🏽"
This trip was for business and for the two weeks I stayed it was a most enjoyable one. Every day I came back to the hotel I would be pleasantly surprised with little treats, rose petals and notes in my room, those were from Maria Esther, Yeni Jaquez and Jennifer oh and I could not forget my 7.30pm knock on the door greeting me with chocolates from Ceciela making sure the room was ok and anything I needed. The Gym I found excellent from having been at many hotels this was spacious and the sauna and steam rooms were 👌🏽👍🏽👍🏽. The breakfast was always my favorite with the omelet station and dinner also was great with some excellent staff who taught me a little Spanish, Arnando (I think it's his name) would always teach me a word every time I saw him, Henry and Argenisl (I would shout out Hola Francisco y Henry) would always greet me and make me feel at home being home sick, Noel gave me some tips on where to go on my days off and I ended up on a beach with my friends called Boca Chica and had a blast! Also the kind service from Jose, Pablo...the pool is heated and absolutely Lovely....the security guys would always ensure that I was ok when I came from a walk and would always advise me where to walk and to be careful. Everyone were excellent and went above and beyond my definition of customer service and my trip for 2 weeks will never be forgotten and I will definitely return to Sheraton and hope to see all the kind workers with genuine hospitality. The kindness they portrayed were not of a job but genuine and that edged me memory. Keep up the great work guys!!! I know I forgot a few names but to the staff of Sheraton between my stay September 4th-17th Thank You!
So many nice people all around you. Everybody greets you every time they see you. Hotel room was always clean because of Luisa Vasqas the lady that cleaned our rooms every mornig with a smile on her face. Just amazing Loved everything around and people around.
"Worthwhile choice in Santo Domingo"
Having stayed at four hotels in the Malecon area, they each have different qualities. One reason the Sheraton is often my hotel of choice in Santo Domingo is that it has tall windows that open almost floor to ceiling. If one upgrades, is lucky, or is a Starwood loyalist one might even have a balcony, overlooking the sea. The hotel mostly has a hospitable staff. Front desk personnel are efficient, eager to be helpful, friendly. The bellman Elias, Lisandro and others have that welcome that is unscripted. At some hotels it feels employees have to follow a tight, insincere script of friendliness. The housekeepers invariably are nice, thorough, and sometimes provide little unexpected touches. For example on this visit a friend had a bouquet of flowers for me and the housekeeper took the fallen flower petals and adorned the sink and bathmat with rose petals. Beds and linens very good - nice, “crispy” sheets changed daily. While the dining room has a wide variety in the buffet; I wish there were more of that Dominican warm hospitality shown upon entering the area - a “good morning,” or “welcome,” instead of a “what’s your room number'” mentality. The club lounge on the tenth floor has nice panoramic views and the hotel seems to be trying to improve the offerings. Security is increasingly important in travel these days and it seems the staff is vigilant to protect the guests. The pool is nice, in large area of mezzanine. Few people are at the pool, so there’s plenty of choices in where to lounge in both umbrella shade or sun. The food is acceptable, though there are many really good restaurants close by the hotel. Gisselle Garcia, front desk manager, is such a warm, hospitable employee and maintains a good staff. I made a mistake and didn’t book sufficient nights and the hotels in this area were full. Gisselle and staff were cheerful about helping me, letting me know it’s a pleasure to help and not a bother. The Sheraton’s location on the Malecon is excellent, some of the other hotels involve travel through streets choked with traffic. Travel to the DR is usually good value and the people and music festivals are like no other. I’ve been to about 70 countries and think Dominicans are about the nicest. They seem have more happiness in their DNA than most anyone. Even though the bubble of all inclusive resorts are popular, I prefer to experience some of the reality and grit of being in Santo Domingo, but in the comforts of the Sheraton. Let go of expectations of major luxury and modernity and enjoy the Sheraton's service and efforts to please.
